Congratulations to the Bandits on a great week! Always tough to lose but I'm sure it'll be a motivator for the next tournament.

Congratulations to 16U Lady Sluggers! Nice week and surely lots of looks by colleges. I'm sure Hannah held her own and shined in every opportunity she was given. Best of luck for the rest of the summer!!

Thank you Porky for the kind words. By the time state rolled around she could have truly cared less about going anymore. It was a long season mentally and she was done, thus you could read it on her face at regionals. She is again having fun and winning some too!

Steinle too...and she is willing to catch! LOL

First hand experience......it's not too tough a position to be in when the girl loves to play the game. When the girl has just one goal for high school and that is getting back to state tournament, she takes lumps. She talks with her parents and says she will play wherever it takes to make it happen. The parents tell this to the coach... PROBLEM #1....the coach never once approaches the player to explain that for the best of the team, she is making a move on the players position. Little comments are made about the player needing to "work on things" and "get her stuff back" and still no discussion with the player....nice for the psyche. Parents ask the coach if she has any idea what is wrong with the player and coach says "no, what's wrong?" Parents response back to coach, "why don't you talk to her about it?" Guess what.....coach still didn't bother to talk to the player. Nice coach/player relationship. PROBLEM #2....with all the drama at the beginning of the year and this player and family no longer being "ALL IN", little punishments and comments made in front of the entire team, the player no longer had respect for the coach. No respect, no desire to win..... PROBLEM #3 (not really a problem in this mother's eyes but rather a strength on the part of the daughter)....player expresses she can never play for the coaches again. BUT because of her loyalty to her teammates sticks the season out even though she is miserable playing the game. (Take a look at the regional championship game pictures of this player if anyone questions whether she was miserable or not) Fix to all these problems.......remove the player from the situation. So to sum up my input, high school is a practice field for bigger and better things, ie summer ball which leads to college ball. You do what you have to do until you can't do it anymore!

No one is perfect, it's about what you are willing to accept as flaws and what you aren't.

McJ....anyone with common sense can realize that there are always 2 sides to every story. People will believe whatever they want, no matter what I say or what you say. It's a pattern of behavior that follows you around. Sometimes you find people to buy into your twists, sometimes you don't. I don't care if people like you or don't like you, I don't lose sleep over the fact that people bash you or don't bash you. I sleep well because I know right and wrong and I have nothing to be paranoid about, therefore I have nothing to be obsessive about other than the fact that my daughter isn't screwed up because of you. When a person takes on the responsibility of a coach, they put themselves out there for scrutiny. Thus, every word and movement you make is watched. That is your choice to be in that role. You don't like it, quit. Plain and simple. You are a teacher/coach, act like such and conduct yourselves as such. Teach kids the values we expect teachers/coaches to adhere by. But maybe the problem is, my family has higher expectations than most? Cause there are some topics of discussions that are completely off limits....and I bet you know what I mean by that, don't you kystalker?? When you are ready to sit down and hash the real truth out between us, let's do it. There are several questions I've got for you. You know how to get in touch with me. You could very well be looking in my windows now.....time to shut the blinds......

Kyshooter, I am thinking maybe you should change your screen name to kystalker. You seem to pay far too much attention to what I do or don't do. Borderline obsessive IMO. I would think that you would be at games to enjoy watching the actual game rather than getting fashion ideas from me, or who I sit with or don't sit with, or being worried about who you see me congratulate or not congratulate. Ask around, I congratulated many of the girls on the win and the awards they won! As for my statement you overheard "you will do what I tell you to do", I can bet many a parent has made this comment to their child at some point in their life. What was the context of the actual discussion I was having with my daughter? I have shared my opinions, as that is the purpose of this board. However, there are many opinions I have not posted on here. I have not bashed or criticized any of the girls on here. So what is your issue with my behavior? Because I am not "all in" and I have questioned actions and comments made by the coaches? Right is right and wrong is wrong and things that the girls have endured at times are wrong! If you are going to say I haven't given credit to Patti and Steve, get it right...a previous post within this very thread I said "the coaches lent a hand in it but ultimately the wins are the girl's, not the coaches". If a coach is truly in it for the girls then it is not about them getting the glory, it's about the girls getting it. So my bad in not showering praise over the coaches...again my opinion, majority of the credit belongs to the girls. Refresh my memory where I came on here and posted anything that indicated I was mad my daughter did not make the All-Tournament team? Along with stalking my actions and Facebook, you must have been doing some psychic tricks getting into my head for this information??? Keep the day job and stop thinking you'll be the next Miss Cleo!! I won't have to worry about drama with college coaches because I can guarantee you that my daughter won't be considering any college that employs coaches that have some of the same ethics the Oliverios do. But to the Oliverios credit since they don't feel enough love, they have good qualities. Unfortunately their bad ones outweigh the good one when it comes to what my husband and I will expose our daughter to. Some people are willing to allow bad actions/comments to their kids and that is their prerogative, our household isn't ran that way. While you are responding to my questions/comments, why don't you go ahead and make yourself known since your "set" seems pretty large behind a screen name....anything I say on here, isn't anything I wouldn't say straight to the Oliverios or to anyone else for that matter.

I'm not going to act like I know what the coaches knew or already knew regarding what they were doing and truly don't care. I do care how they spin it though. They have mastered the spin of taking things off their shoulders and placing blame elsewhere or deflecting things all together. You are 100% correct that this player Steve calls "marque" is better off never playing for these coaches again......

You are finally right with a statement there ABC....they were not all in in past years. So since you must have the fast track with the program with your wealth of knowledge, why would the letter have been worded that not everyone was "ALL IN"? If the coaches needed a break, absolutely great. Take a LOOOOOONG break....as long as they need.....but don't put it on the back of one girl. Even two girls, or three. They wanted a break, say they want a break! That's easy and understandable. I don't believe anyone in this post said anything about them winning the 9th region again. But honestly, I am tired of hearing it was the coaches that won it. Were they the ones out there playing the game? No...it was the team of girls that with their talent won the games needed. It was the chemistry the girls had together and the desire they had to win. The coaches lent a hand in it but ultimately the wins are the girls, not the coaches!!! What kids and parents thought they were too big for the program? Since you saw so much in your maybe 12 days in 2 summers........

Situation is, that coaches sent a letter home to the team in April, that because not everyone was "ALL IN" there would be no summer team. However, there was only one girl confirmed to not be playing summer ball with them. But the coaches banked totally on this one girl I guess, as Steve says it "their marque player".....so the coaches thanked the girls parents for "shutting it down" because it then gave their daughter a chance to play for the Sluggers. However, the coaches were aware in Sept/Oct that this "marque player" wouldn't be playing this summer! Unfortunately they didn't feel the need to share the news with the rest of the team so everyone else could find summer teams of they wanted their kids to play.

Maybe when you are actually in the know as to why a kid doesn't play in the spring then you can speak. However, you aren't.

Because of the change I know the team was refunded some money. Definitely would've been better to play in front of some college coaches but nice weekend none the less.

And then when those proper chain of commands are followed and nothing still done by the coaches/administration, how should it be handled? And I am not talking about little Susie not getting playing time.....

HAHAHA! I like the sounds of that game. Can think of a couple other words than high school that would work too :clap: Yeah, didn't see any college coach activity this weekend. Because of Scenic, Music City was changed from showcase to qualifier at the last minute. It still made for a good weekend and some good drinking time. Congrats on your weekend in Kansas!

Smith did well but even better yet, had a blast playing. She pitched and played second. Batted 3rd in line up. No other KY girls on the team. Team has one from West Virginia and the rest from Ohio.

So if parents don't comprehend, please explain what is so different about the different types of coaching. As you being the apparent master, I am curious what your take is.

Finished 3-2 for the weekend. Had a great time despite the tough losses against Carolina Elite and TN Worth.

Congratulations girls!!!! Love the mix of schools on the team. Makes for some lasting friendships across NKY. Part of what the experience is all about.
