  1. Campbell County's strength of schedule ranks 30th in the state

According to the latest Maher rankings.

I said "what WILL rank as ONE of the toughest schedules.".

They have played 3 teams in the top 20 since the latest rankings. Topping it off with the defending state champs.

Anticipate their final strength of schedule to be 20 or higher. So, yes, one of the toughest. There are almost 300 schools.

  2. The very good teams make layups (take it out of the refs hands) and free throws. Hopefully Campbell County made their two free throws. Campbell's last five games will prove how they stack up in NKY. They need to win the next two regular season games to make a statement. Good luck.

    Campbell County is:

    8-2 vs the 9th Region

    8-1 vs the 10th Region

If they have something left to prove to NKY, then we still need to prove water freezes.

    They beat Ryle at Ryle.

    They beat Highlands at Highlands.

They beat Notre Dame at Notre Dame.

    They beat Cooper at Cooper.

    Also beat:

Conner, Boone, Dixie, Newport. They were within 3 points with under a minute AT Holmes.

    They beat Mason County.

They beat Walton in the pre-season as well as Male.

Campbell County has already made it's statement to NKY. Nothing left to prove. They are one of the top teams in the area.

Finishing up on Friday what will rank as one of the toughest schedules in the state of KY.

Not even counting the top ten teams they played from Ohio and Illinois.

Camels are looking forward to tournament time!

Good luck to everyone entering the post season!

  3. Wow, I thought CC was the team to beat in the 10th.

Mason County is ranked #1 in the 10th. Campbell County is #2 and along with a couple others will challenge.

Campbell is 5-0 vs the 10th.

They have beat Highlands, Conner, Notre Dame...and stand 4-1 vs the 9th.

They lost by 1 point at NCC.

    "Wow"?!

As for the game, Lawnboy was spot on. Although, from the other side, we felt Campbell could have easily won by 10-12 if they had not missed many open looks as well.

Davenport was absolutely the difference maker for the Breds.

  4. I want to start by saying I am someone who has played/coached Bball in the nky area over the last 20 years. I have also spent extensive time with multiple D1 teams in this time. This said college "signings" in this nky area and honestly the state of ky is laughable. If players and parents alike would stop waiting for their "star player" to be seen by colleges the better off they would be. Recruiting is purely marketing and sales. I talk to college coaches weekly who ask me about players. The first thing they ask...? Got film or highlights for him. Parents and players alike reading this make a demo tape asap. Now the fun part.... Send the tape and a resume (just like applying for a job) to any and every school you would ever consider going to or playing for. Granted this takes a lot of effort. Many people will read this and laugh. As someone who has used this practice I have seen both full ride scholarships for division 2 and 1 athletes in this area. I say all of this not to discredit the area but to encourage. Many talented ball players in nky settle for lesser schools bc the aren't recruited. Get yourself recruited! Good luck to all!

  5. I agree Barth would be a great hire. He and his staff have done a great job and I hope they stay at Walton. There is something to be said about building a program from its infancy. I don't see Barth changing jobs unless it is a real "Blue Chip" spot in Greater Cincinnati, or if a college opportunity presented itself like Eviston last year.

Ryle administration would be complete morons to not interview Jeff Barth if he expressed any interest at all. Talk about a character guy. He could handle anything the TC Mafia could throw at him. They would be in for a rude awakening if they thought they could lead Jeff Barth around. He coulda me that program relevant again quickly if they get out of his way.

  6. Very impressed with the toughness covcath showed last night. covcath came to play and made a good game of it. Congratulations on a good year despite the many injuries.

As far as the jawing, it is a high emotion game played by emotional young men that have not fully matured yet mentally. Saw a throat slash sign by one team and jawing at the other team by the other team. It's HHS vs covcath. It's the game of the year for both teams. You are going to get what you got on the field. However, after the game they shook hands and patted each other on the back like men.

I also saw several players hug one another after the game was over. Emotions run hot in this rivalry, but in the end there is a lot of respect for each other. Many of these guys will end up at the same colleges and be classmates, frat brothers, business associates, etc. When they meet in the future it is almost always as friends with a unique connection that is the HHS/ CCHS rivalry. I've seen it many times over the years. Great game fellas!

  7. I'd say maybe. It's possible.

    Where's the game played?

What point in the season for each?

Regular season game or a one and done for the championship?

    Could they win? Yes.

Would I pick them? Depends, but I'd probably pick Highlands in a one off with both teams going for it with all they got.

This is just a bunch of nonsense. HHS would beat SK all 10 times if they played them 10 times, and twice if they played a double header on Sunday. Coaching, Talent and Speed kill, and HHS has more of all of things than SK.

  8. They are a solid 6A team but are by no means a top ten team IMO. They always play John tough, but John's offense was terrible. John's defense saved them but I don't think it will save them next week.

Yeah, doesn't sound as if JH is as good as they have been in the recent past. Things could get ugly next week for them at home.

  9. I took this one last nite to see for myself and I have some observations, both good and bad.

    The Good

    1) Highlands plays hard, they don't quit

    2) They clearly out rebounded Conner last nite and won that war.

    3) Flynn might not be winning games, but he is not losing them on purpose or because of a lack of effort or passion, same can be said about the kids.

    4) Some really good looks with some but not all falling. Coach Shields used to say "if you are not hot keep shooting until you get hot"

    The Bad

    1) Highlands passes up way too many open shots. I saw several times last nite open shots passed up in order to get the ball to "the scorers"

Well guess what, when a team is not winning, there is no longer a go to guy or guys, take the open shot, I don't care who you are.

    2) No way do they use True size to their advantage, I know he may not have polished skills for a big guy but...

    3) Most disappointing thing of all was to see the amount of clowning around on the bench during the game, players talking to girls in the stands, etc

    Hang in there Birds :thumb:

The girls in the stands are managers/statisticians. There are a few of them who have been sitting behind the bench all season. I'm guessing they might be asking the players about who scored, or who got the assist etc. if they missed it. It's been going on all year.

We could start another thread called "Chicks on the Bench, Agree or disagree?" Sam Wyche wouldn't have it!

BTW, Glad they're not losing on purpose!
