  1. If I may-

Let me start by saying I come here to try to understand other perspectives and I enjoy defending my beliefs. I have no real problem with the some of the threads that RTS creates about Obama. I think he should be criticized and analyzed. That said, I don't really mind all the threads on Obama (I counted, RTS had started nearly 40 about him since late-January), I just find some of them silly and ridiculously partisan. Discussing economic, environmental and immigration policies? Great! Starting threads about "Is Obama Bipolar?" and threads taking one Obama quote out of context (Obama Opens up About Relationship With Rudd) seems a bit excessive.

I just like to think that everyone can see both sides of an issue. I'd like to see RTS (or anyone else) jump on Glenn Beck when he says something stupid or offensive. And I think there's an attitude there, as evidenced by the title of this thread, that really turns me off. It's kind of my business because I pay to be here. I don't mind defending my ideas, but I hate sometimes having to wade through the muck to get there.

  2. It's interesting that you so confidently point out the certainty of increased violence by Arabs against Jews as if it is to be expected as soon as numbers permit. But the Israelis are wrong for taking every necessary step to defend themselves in an incredibly hostile region... as if it is the actions of the Israelis to defend themselves that are precipitating the violence. It seems your viewpoint is, "They had it coming."

I asked you before... I'm asking again... "What in your opinion should the Israelis be doing differently."

You are gifted at pointing out everything they're doing wrong... what in you opinion could they do right?

Not saying it's right or wrong (it's probably wrong), but if you think about it, it's a lot like those IDF commandos fast roping down to the boat- they were clearly outnumbered and it inspired nothing more than a mob mentality.

And I have already answered this question when you asked it the first time. Israel needs to stop the settlements. That's what this new round of issues clearly hinge on.

  3. The reason I mentioned land mass in earlier posts is the fact that the so-called poor down and out Palestinians could have been easily assimilated 60 years ago by their charitable Muslim brothers... but no one wanted them. They have been more valuable as pawns on the world stage... a political football kicked around by evil manipulators.

And that's a terrible argument. So when millions of Palestinians were kicked off their land to make room for Israelis, they should have just gone quietly? Moreoever, their Arab neighbors just should have accepted millions of refugees without complaint? If this war in Mexico caused millions of Mexicans en masse to cross into the United States we should just accept them? I don't think you really see it that way.

On top of that, you do realize that about more than half of Jordan's population is Palestinian, right? So her neighbors have done their part.

  4. Now that I have stated that I do not believe Israel is without flaw... maybe you can tell someone without a great depth of understanding in the nuances of Muslim divides and geopolitical affairs, what you believe Israel's best course of action is. :thumb:

You still really didn't say what flaws you think Israel has.

And I think you're kind of missing the point, this really isn't about religious divides anoymore. Does that make it worse? Sure. But now it's about the rights to a homeland. Palestinians are being rounded up and placed on what can be equated with reservations while Israelis continue to build new settlements (which they claimed the would stop doing) on Palestinian land. Stop the settlements and it's a start. It's an unecessary provocation that would go a long way in ending this.

If we really want to place blame in this matter, we should probably blame the UN who decided the plunk the Jews down in the middle of Palestinian land.

Moreover, Israel needs to stop giving the middle finger to world public opinion. They are causing more problems for us in the middle east than they are helping and they need to realize that they have obligations to the United States and not just a free pass to erage the world, knowing we'll have their back.

  5. There's an old saying I believe is true... "If the Arabs lay down their weapons, war will end. If Israel lays down her wepons, Israel will end."

I'm sure there are several of you who will disagree...

That just continues to go along with your narrative. Can you admit Israeli doesn't always act morally and may be part of the problem as well? You do realize that during the Gaza War last year, for every one Israeli killed by Hamas, there were more than 100 Palestinians killed? And those weren't all enemy combatants- almost 1000 civilians were killed. And what about the settlement issue? The wall? Sure, it's all supposed to be done in the interest of "security", but Palestinians are now treated like second class citizens in the own country. Their treatment is borderline inhumane. I know, I've seen it firsthand.

I'll tell you all the same thing I tell everyone I meet- spend time in Israel and is becomes unbelievably difficult to continue to support Israeli actions. But I'm telling you that Palestinian groups are in the wrong, too. Nothing gets solved by terrorism. The sooner they realize this, the sooner they can maybe solve this. I just wish you could admit Israel is in the wrong here, too.

  6. Color me shocked. I don't recall ever hearing of an official talking to reporters after a game and discussing a call that should/shouldn't have been made. For one, it sets a bad precedent.

OK, wait, on the stuff with the quotes: Where did this come from? Did Joyce actually say this to a reporter? Or is this Leyland or Gallaraga repeating what Joyce told them in private? Important distinction here.

Makes it sound like he was speaking to a group of reporters.
