  1. As an Alum of WVU, I agree with you totally. Some fans are over the top, and I have to admit I have burned a few couches in my day! Now that I'm older, I do wish we were known for something a little more kinder. I go back several times a year to watch them play football, and go to watch them play the Cards in the 'Ville and up to Cincy when they are there.

  2. Incorrect. If you are an official in the BBA, you have no say in where you go. So, guys that live in Frankfort for example have no choice to drive to Maysville and work if they are assigned the 10th Region tournament. Just ask Kirk Hudson.

So let me see if I understand this correctly. The 10 & 11 officials work their own regional tourney? Boy, now I would hate to do that as an official. I'm glad we switch with another region.

  3. True, it does happen everywhere. But let me tell you from personal experience that WVU makes most other student bodies look like rank amateurs with the profanity they use towards the opposition. Nothing and I mean nothing is off limits with them.

    What is your personal experience?

  4. Big East needs to do the following:

    1. Tell ND your in or out - this hurts them with all other sports.

    2. Try to add Navy, East Carolina, and Troy.

    3. Pay Nova to move to D-1 football.

Coach I like this but I have one question. Why add Troy and not add say Memphis or Marshall?

I agree ND needs to get in or get out.

I would be in favor of Nova moving up and helping them do so. I like adding Navy and ECU.

  5. Not my idea, just what I've heard.

I know in the 10th and 11th region coaches get 5 scratches. The problem comes in the post-season. The coaches of these two regions want to keep their officials (which they should because they are the best in the state) for region play. Coaches have figured out how different officials call different games and they base thier scratches on who they do/don't want to see in the region. So, here is a possible scenario:

Team A coach scratches the officials who are ranked #1, 3, 5, 6, and 8 in the association.

Team B coach scratches the officials who are ranked #2, 4, 7, 9 and 10 in the association.

Team A and Team B make it to the finals of the region. You have the #11, 12 and 13 ranked officials in that particular region working the final game. I don't think that's what the ranking system is set up to accomplish.

Don't think that's how it works for the "region" tourney. The top 6 from each region, regardless of a coaches scratch is who makes the region tourney. Does the 10 & 11 switch officials for the region tourney?

  6. If the Big East included Marshall, ECU, Memphis and CMU they should lose their automatic qualifying spot in the BCS to the MWC. What a joke. Beating Marshall and CMU gets you to the Orange Bowl? Who is going to take a conference seriously that has headliners of WVU, Cincy, and U of L? Nothing against those schools but football wise it just seems like the old Conference USA.

I see your point, but my point I was trying to make was for a conference to have an automatic bid to the BCS they need to have a conference championship, the BE needs to add 4 schools to do so. The Big Ten needs to add one, the PAC 10 needs to add one, the MWC would need to add 3. The WAC would need to add 3. I forgot you could add Army or Navy and that would elimnate two of the previous teams I mentioned.

  7. As an official I know when I miss a call. I can also tell you that I am very upset with myself when I know that I missed a call. I don't need someone to tell me, I know. These kids work hard to get where they are, and I don't want to mess it up for any kid. I also believe MOST officials feel the same way!

  8. You have about 6 schools in the BE that don't play football. So here's what I would suggest, tell 'Nova to move up to D-1, tell ND get in our get out either they play FB in the BE if not, basketball is out of the BE. Send invites to Marshall, ECU, Memphis, Central Michigan, or another MAC team. I think every league that is in the BCS should have to have a league championship game or lose their automatic bid. Losing Pitt to the Big 10 would not be all that big of a deal, however, I don't see them going because of basketball.

  9. You haven't been sued yet then.........

Private funds are included in the bold, read a couple of threads above..........

No we haven't been sued yet. It's (Title IX) not a perfect system, but what we had before was far from perfect! Spend it all on the boys, and give a token amount to the girls was not fair either!

  10. My biggest problem is scheduling, and donations/fund-raising.

I say we go back to the traditional schedule.

It also tick me off that someone cannot donate to a boys team without an equal donation to the girls.

I'm also tired of fund-raising, and being told we have to give $$$$$ to a girls program.......

I'm not sure where your information has come from, but the funds that are raised by boosters do not have to be shared, nor does a donor have to make a equal donation either boys or girls, or at least it has not been shared in our system. What I do know is this, that for every dollar spent on boys, has to be spent on girls. I'm not sure what the problem with that is. I think that is fair.

  11. Some of those girls can flat out play! There are some guys who could learn a thing or two about fundamentals just by watching them. I tend to forget to pay enough attention to them myself, and then if I catch a game, it's like WOW!!! These girls got game! :ylsuper:

Thank you!! As a father of two girls if it wasn't for Title IX they would not be afforded the opportunity that they have. And I agree the fundamentals are much better.

  12. In a Middle School game I took a High School Coach off the clock for this very thing. First, I'm there to do a job and I'm receiving a fee for doing it. Regardless of the level of game the rule is the rule. The table is part of the official team. Maybe I took it to far, but that's what I did.
