  1. How can Syracuse and Villanova be overrated? They've lost two games a piece, we're almost 3/4 of the way through the season. That's one of the most absurd things I've read in a long time.

    I would say:

Washington-started the season ranked 13th, made it as high 10, they're 17-8 now with losses to Texas Tech, UCLA, Arizona, and Arizona State-those teams are bad.

Connecticut-started the season at 14th, made a few trips in the top 10, they're 14-11 right now.

North Carolina-started the season at 4, they're 14-11 as well with a horrendous 3-7 record in an average ACC this year.

Michigan-started the season at 15, they're 12-12 now, with losses to Boston College, Utah, and Indiana. AND, they have two 17+ ppg scorers on the wing.

Oklahoma-started the season at 16, they're 13-11, with losses to Virginia Commonwealth, San Diego, Houston, and UTEP.

    That's the very reason I'm against a Pre-Season Poll!

  2. Rule 1-1-7...The game officials shall assume authority for the contest, including penalizing unsportsmanlike acts, 30 minutes prior to the scheduled game time or as soon thereafter as they are able to be present.

During those 30 minutes officials will...

    1. Meet with both head coaches to confirm all players are legally equipped, answer questions from coaches, discuss any game relavant topics, such as weather, field conditions, pre-gam and halftime ceremonies, and more.

    2. Meet with ball boys to review ball handling procedures, and confirm balls meet rules requirements.

    3. Meet with chain crew to review procedures

    4. Meet with clock operator to review timing procedures and penalty signals

    5. Inspect field conditions, markings, pylons and protective padding where required

    6. Confirm if trainers, medical staff or EMT's present if needed.

    7. Coin toss procedure

Prior to coming onto the field the crew will spend an hour in the locker room dressing, and reviewing all official duties for game situations, inlcuding rules and mechanics for covering all types of plays and situations that may occur during the game.

Hey Ref, great job. Our crew tries to arrive 90 minutes before kickoff as well. We normally drive together, and do pre-game on the drive as well.

  3. Things that stuck out to me.

    1. Not criticising him because all around he played a great game. But, the Garcon drop in the 2nd quarter hurt badly. It took the Colts offense off the field and they basically did not return for the rest of the quarter.

    2. Colts not trying to do anything at the end of the first quarter. The theme for this game showed here. Saints and Shaun Peyton were playing to win and Colts and Caldwell were playing not to lose. A first down here would have been significant.

    3. The onside kick. Saints stole potential points from the Colts and gained some for themselves. Once again keeping the Colts offense off the field. With the dropped pass and the onside, the Colts offense was basically kept off the field for 10 minutes.

    4. I thought we were looking at Superbowl overtime, but the interception sealed it. It was a terrible pass and route.

    5. I thought Caldwell was horribly out coached in the game, and the Saints much better prepared for the game.

Personally I think that was the difference in the whole game!

  4. Unfortanately BEZ, The Bluegrass Basketball Association Assigning Secretaries have always honored the coaches scratches even in the District and Regional Tournaments. I know several of the top officials that have not worked the regional finals because of a certain school making it to the final.

Last year was a prime example as 4 of the top 6 rated officials were not working the regional FINALS. This is not what the scratch system is all about. Thoses guys and gals work hard all year long to get top games and top regional games and for them to get scratch from the finals is not deserving to them. They should get what they deserve. The teams do.:sssh:

That's what you get when you don't switch with another region. Plus I'd put the top 12th region guys against anyone in the state!

  5. I've heard of a possibility of two major changes next year. First, on the table is the district winner and runner-ups advancing to the State Playoffs. Not sure that will pass. But the other that I heard that I think will pass is this. Whatever class you are in you have to play in that class, no more playing up. Which means, a school like Somerset will play 2-A instead of 3-A and Highlands that I think is a 3-A school will be in that class instead of the 5-A.

  6. The point is you guys have been brainwashed into believing a conference title game is anything more than a cash grab. The ACC has one that draws about 50 people. Big deal. If the Big 11 steals Pitt to go that route, so be it. The Big East will add a program capable of replacing them and be just fine...

You have got to be kidding me. The Big 12 title game has been great. This year Nebraska came within one second of sending UC to the NC game. Two years ago #1 Mizzou was upset by Oklahoma sending LSU to the NC game. In 2003 K-State upset #1 Oklahoma, 1998 Colorado upset #2 K-State and in the very first one an unranked Texas upset #3 Nebraska. The SEC championship games have been great. Granted the ACC game has left little to be desired, but they do have more than 50 folks that show up. The Big 10 needs a title game as does the PAC-10. And I think the BE does as well.

  7. Pitt does seem to bring out the worst in WVU fans. I had tickets to a WVU - Pitt game and was not able to go. I really wanted to witness if for myself but had to work that weekend.

Mountain, you have no clue. I have been to several backyard brawls and I can tell you they are bad in both Morgantown and in Pittsburgh!

  8. Army and Navy are NEVER going to leave independent status. You can make it out however you want, but that isn't changing. Nova can't get support for a 1AA program that wins big. Zero chance. I'll pretend you are kidding with Georgetown.

The "true conference champion" line is also hilarious. Those are nothing more than a HUGE money cash grab, and now the Big 11 wants a cut. Do you really think they are exploring "crowning a champion" as the reason for expansion?

Well since you are so smart why don't you give a solution to the matter instead of critizing everything everyone else is saying.

  9. And I think that makes less than zero sense. The Big East should be forced to "legitimize" itself by adding up to 5 MAC/CUSA programs to "earn" a BCS bid? You don't see the flaws in that logic???

I think it makes total sense. To have a chance to play for the big money you need to have a true conference champion. To have a true conference champion you need to have a championship game.

The Big East could add Navy, Army, have Nova and G-town step their programs up, and then add ECU.

The Big Ten would have to add 1. Pac 10 one as well. Then you tell ND get in a conference or no BCS bid.

I see no flaws in that logic!

  10. The NCAA requires 12 teams to have a cash grab game. 6 leagues are in the BCS. Do the math...

I think you have misunderstood what I'm saying. Currently the SEC, ACC, Big 12, C-USA, MAC have league championship games. The PAC-10, Big 10, Big East, MWC, WAC does not. In order for the PAC-10, Big 10, Big East, MWC, WAC to have a team in a BCS bowl game, (cash grab game) they need to have a league championship game, which means those leagues need to add schools or have schools up their program to be eligible for the BCS. That's IMO

  11. Pitt won the Big East this decade and was a presence on the national stage this year. When most people go down the list of Big East teams, Pitt is a positive.

Until they came to Morgantown, and Cincy came to town. Plus UCONN should have beat them earlier in the season. It was Pitt that won the BE and went to the Fiesta Bowl and got beat by Utah.

  12. Huggs just had to take the mic Sam Wyche style to yell at the WVU students for throwing things on the floor. Stay classy Morgantown...

    Was that tonight's game?

If it was, my two favorite teams is WVU and whoever beats PITT

  13. In regard to the basketball schedule being just stupid everyone not playing home/home series and there being 16 teams, 8 of which don't play football or play at a lower level?

No other BCS conference is setup that way, and if Pitt goes to the Big 10 EVERY conference will have a football championship game.

First off, the SEC does not play a Home/Home series in basketball either. They like the BE do play all the teams in their conference.

Secondly, There are 5 schools that do not play football, St. Johns, Depaul, Marquette, Providence & Seton Hall. Nova and G-town play at a lower level that is 7 teams that do not play football or play at a lower level. ND is just not in the football conference, another reason they (ND) needs to get in or get out.

As has been stated already the PAC 10 does not have a football championship game.

Again, I ask why is it horrible set up. The SEC does the same thing in basketball that the BE does.
