I've heard that FSU doesn't bring high academics to the table. I believe they are at the bottom of the ACC.
Since when does academics matter? Maybe a loooooooo-ng time ago. But now that the almighty dollar and the 'world-wide leader" dictate everything, academics in the discussion seems trite.

Way to go Hardballin' Birds! Keep Rockin' !! :ylsuper:
-
Way to go Andy Miller!! Finish out that Sr. year strong!! "Chicks dig the longball!" :ylsuper:

Congrats to all...stay healthy...cherish the opportunity...graduate!

Dont get too carried away
How can you NOT get carried away? Afterall, Dale says this is his "Fastest, strongest, most talented team EVER!"

Jason Waldenmeyer, committed to Rose-Hulman. He's projected to be an impact player on the OLine, while achieving his degree in engineering. Rose-Hulman competes in the NCAA DIII Heartland Conference.
Atta Boy, Jason!
Ya' know, sometimes hard-work & determination payoff in the end. Jase wasn't one of the "featured" players at HHS and had to work VERY hard to garner the playing time he got. If there was a vote on who the player one DOESN'T want to go against in practice was, Jason would win by a landslide. I'm really tickled that he's going to continue his FB career and will be doing it at the alma mater of my old teammate (and fellow O-line stalwart), David "Mercury" Morris.
WHERE'S WALDO?.......at Rose-Hulman with 'dem Fightin' Engineers!
PS...21 would be AWFUL proud of his lil' bro!

People seem to forget that next years junior class is probably the most talented overall to come out of Ft.Thomas..The Birds will be really really good again..
DALE! What did we tell you about posting under other peoples' log-ins!!!!!

Very cool! Thanks for posting the pics AT.
LOVE da' BLING! On a side note...I attended a trade show in SLC for college licensed merchandise and happened upon a booth for class rings/diploma frames/jewelry etc... and their brochure featured Highlands' 07 and 08 rings (similar to the T one's displayed), a Beechwood ring and Univ. of Cincy's 08 BE champ ring! small world!

You make a great point!!! All of you people saying that unseeded Districts make for a watered down regional??? This year is a watered down Regional!!! Of the teams in the 9th Region tournament, HC has beaten 5, lost to 2 and didn't play 1.
...and the rest of the state thinks the 9th region waters down the Sweet Sixteen.

Welcome Devin!

Looks like "Cool Hand" Luke Turner had the "hot hand"! Maybe all season long, since the coach knew the FB players would be late... and really late by the time they rounded into hoops shape....he has played the season to season the players. (just a theory). But NOW it's time to ...as my old coach usd to say... "dance with the one that brung ya'". Here's to hoping the Birds can make a deep run to a regional title! It's WINNIN' TIME, BOYS!

I actually asked him that question last night. He's taking a positive outlook with it. He thinks it may give him a better opportunity because the new coach didn't recruit the current WR's and will have to evaluate everyone from the same starting point.
Great young man. Very happy for him and his family that he's getting this opportunity.

How will the defection of UK WR coach Tee Martin effect Ozzy's status? Any re-considerations occurring?
-
Didn't Digger use a "stall ball" tactic against UK at Freedom Hall one year? I seem to recall he got a "beer bath" on the way to the locker room, too! (deserved). And Bob Knight HATES Kentucky. It eats at his soul that UK spoiled the Championship hopes of one his best teams. He refers to UK as "those cheatin' ...". Digger and Bob just lost too many recruiting wars to UK.

Steve Fields, Newport H.S., early-mid 70's.....there wasn't ANYTHING he wasn't good at!
-
Mike Moore was from Holmes mid-70's.

Congratulations Oz! You went with your heart, so it can't be wrong. Best of luck to one of the most prolific passing combos EVER at HHS. (Towles to Sheehan!). I know it was a VERY tough decision as you had a lot of quality opportunities. Just remember, you'll no longer be the "big cheese" and you're going to have to be MARKEDLY better than a scholly guy to see the field in ANY capacity. But you do possess the ability to make your dreams happen. If you ever get to a point where you need a fellow Bird's shoulder who travelled a similar path...you got his number! Don't be like your old man...stay out of Two Keys, don't close down Tolly Ho's, go to Keeneland only to "look", go to the Library that has books, not beer, study more than party, and above all else, represent the "H" !

Congrats on going further with your FB aspirations! TMC is getting a FINE player and Goose has the opportunity to achieve a FINE education. WIN-WIN!!

McCoy will be the QB next season. 2008......Will Bardo could of probably started for any team in NKY and done well as a Junior. Dale went with the Sr instead. Will Bardo got his turn in 2009!!! Drew will get his shot to start QB in 2013. Period!!!
Maybe Will fit into the defensive scheme better than the Sr. would have that year. Wasn't 2008 the year Dale started the "2-platoon" experiment. (outside of 1 or 2 players.)

Nice win, Birds! But as I say when they lose...It's all practice until March! But it IS NICE to get a dub-ya once in a while!
-
Quite the honor for these guys...and a great banquet, too!
-
I agree with LN's thoughts on Carter New...EXCELLENT year this year! But I disagree mon Jude better than Elliot. From seeing Elliot last year and Jude this year, the nod goes to Elliot. BUT, since Elliot essentially didn't play this year (injury) I would pick Jude for this year's BGP team.
-
Boys, boys, boys....it's all PRACTICE until March.
-
That sounds so cool!!
As for the retiring numbers idea, maybe they could give #8 to the starting QB every year, as a symbol of passing down the tradition.
You would have to start by "handing down" Roger Walz' number. (did they HAVE numbers waaaa-y back then?)

I heard that team was only any good because of superior coaching! (of course it was the coach who told me that!). But the bigger issue that I've not seen addressed is: Who got to sit behind home plate?
Congrats to the Breds...especially Andy "Thriller" Miller! Enjoy it to the MAX!
