  1. Soooooooooooo. You got to see one of the Great teams back in the day play.:D

Gotta love your support for the Birds.....:thumb:

I have watched 10 family members play for the Birds during that stretch and it never gets old.

I have missed maybe 20 games since '68.

    Before '82 I think I missed 2.

Others on here like Henry has never missed since '54. Legends say she delivered both sons in the stands under the pressbox.........:jump:

I heard the legend was CONCEIVED, not delivered! :idunno:

  2. Because of NCAA restrictions on time, he can't. Ask Rich Rodriguez about that one...

C'mon GT....coaches can get their messages out/across without directly saying the words. Happens all the time. And a player with a game DVD and a laptop can study film anywhere/anytime.

  3. It really depends on what kind of size they have on the post. Witte, True, Gronotte and Feggins are gonna have to attack the glass and Turner's length and aggressiveness will help as well. Point guard will also be a concern but I think they have the athleticism to hang with teams and possibly be a spoiler.

Granted, I didn't catch many games live last year....but the ones I did, the Birds never USED the size they had in the paint. I hope they really work on their entry passing into the post (gotta fake a pass to make a pass...ever hear of a bounce pass?). Point guard should be the emphasis of need...and pleeeeease fast break when you have the numbers, don't have capable ball handlers pull back and hold it for the PG. Bird's should contend for the region on athletes alone............every year! (

    jmho)

  4. Honestly a Freshmen teams coach that doesn't bring a roster, just puzzles me and what we did have, was via the coach in the press box when we asked for some names to the better player!

I find it hard to believe the Lil' Blue Colonels hadn't scouted the Birds and attained a roster previously. Is it protocol for the visiting team to provide a roster to the home team prior to the game? Do they do this at film swap? Do Freddies have a film swap? I'm 100% sure there was no "trickeration" going on with jerseys. All they really had to do was ask an opposing parent (they are usually not hard to spot) for a quick run down of the players. Heck, usually a post on BGP gets the job done. Congrats to the Birds on the victory and I applaud the CC coach for playing his roster...that will pay off in the long run!

  5. Congrats to the Bluebirds on winning Round 1, and congrats to my HHS friends, enjoy the victory.

Let the anticipation begin for Round 2.

I would like to see a HHS/CCH game, that's one I've never been able to see.

You are missing NKY's finest football (IMHO)! The crazies were...crazy, but respectful. HHS student section was OUTSTANDING! One of the first times in memory that I've seen HHS top CovCath in this category. I loved the "delayed storming of the field." It allowed proper respect for CovCath and HHS to complete their post game handshakes. Classy move! (probably an administrator's idea). Also, touching moment before the game honoring a looong time HHS supporter. (beautifully sung anthem, too!) Put a hard fought contest in the middle of that and you have a FABULOUS night of NKY's FINEST FOOTBALL! ...and the best part NO RAIN!

  6. WOW! Nice comeback HHS Freddies! I saw about 1 1/2 quarters and the NCC freddies were taking it to the Baby Birds. The NCC TD was a real beauty. 80yd. (?) romp right up the gut that was VERY WELL BLOCKED! At that point NCC had the BBirds reeling. LOTS of mental mistakes/penalties that they will grow out of making. I will assume that the BBirds made some nice adjustments at half...good job coaches! I need an opinion from someone who stayed for the whole game: Did NCC wear out due to lower numbers? What was the scoring rundown? Who/how? Thanks!
