  1. Since it was a team win, lets add all contributors who were not only major contributors to this game but all games throughout the season. Add McGhee, Rosenhagen,Trapp, Houston, Napier, Hollingsworth, Rouse, Sheehan, Gall and Schultz to the "team win". And least we forget that this jv team stepped it up when Towles was called to varsity duty, but with whom they will join forces again next year.

...and I'm sure there are MORE names you could add to THIS list. Let's just say "Great game Birds"!!!

  2. From what I've heard Coach Campbell is a first class guy!

And a good tactician! One of the few teams that didn't wait until they're blown out to try "trickeration" to keep their team in the game. They came out and punched the HHS defense right in the mouth on a very nice scoring drive. They then tried an onside kick. It didn't work, but the strategy was sound...pull the unexpected when you are decidedly the underdog. Besides, field position is better than having Bardo, Streeter, AC, True, et al run the ball back to the other side of the 50...and you just may retain possession!

  3. I personally LOVE to see the linemen get some props. But getting to the second level and blocking is EXPECTED from them. If they don't, and the WR's don't sustain engagement downfield, the "glory boys" don't have much for the highlight reels. Fortunately, there have been many, many highlight moments these past few years!!

  4. I was impressed by QB #45 for Covcath (Lankheit?). Very nice command of the field and threw some very nice balls. Also, #9 (WR) did a nice job running routes and made several fine catches w/YAC. He also stepped up bigtime as a fill-in QB to lead the Colonels to a big late score which set up the kick-off/time out stand-off.

Sheehan-New connections were HUGE! True ran well. HHS D was erratic...sometimes stellar, some plays/series...less than stellar. O-line needs alot of tinkering. Punters for BOTH squads were varsity quality!! Comment: I HATE seeing punts not fielded! I totally agree with previous comment on the punt snaps! Good, solid and clean game by both teams...the rivalry continues!!

As for the music, pre-game was hard rockin' tunes...the during game was for the cheerleader routines, I believe. Or it may have been "special request" for LN!! lol As for the scoreboard...it is NOT a case of shenanigans toward Covcath. The board has been having "issues" the past few games (national TV included!).

  5. I can't believe that there were seats available on the Highlands side. There must have been a big band competition Saturday! :) Was that the one tackle that Roller DIDN'T make?? (j/k "AA battery" has been fully charged lately!!) Anyone notice the Cincy St X v. St. Iggy score? 3-2 X wins (X scored all 5 points...preventative safety late in the game!) Go Birds!

  6. Clearly people have different ways of defining "worst loss in HHS history." When I think "worst loss," I equate that with "most embarrassing loss. Highlands losing to Male at home 30-0 in 2001 (a game that was ended at halftime on account of weather, so there's no telling what the final score may have been if the full game had been played), Highlands losing to Rockcastle County 45-6 in 2002 (RC then got beat pretty handily by Boyle County in the finals, making this loss look even worse), Highlands losing to Boyle County 44-10 in the 2003 state finals (especially given how high-profile the game was, with it being a state finals game), and Highlands losing to Louisville Saint Xavier 45-0 in 2005... these are games in recent memory that stick out to me as being among the worst (i.e. most embarrassing) losses for Highlands.

Losing to...Campbell Cty in 1975
