  1. They have a few kids to keep your eyes on like Tyler Morris which is a very quick and alusive QB and RB . A.J. Collins which is good power back and very good defensive player(LB) (SS). Taylor Centers RB,LB,good power runner and does not like to go down . But they are all good all around players, glad to see Cooper get that group of kids.

Thanks for the info, hope they all do well. Cooper's program seems to be on its way up.

  2. OHSAA used to a have a rule that limited out of state travel for football to 300 miles from the state line. Not sure if that rule still exists or not, becasue now other sports are traveling to Las Vegas, Florida and other places. That is why Gerry Faust and Moeller used to invite teams from all over to come here to play, they weren't permitted to go there.

I didn't know that OHSAA had that rule in place in the past but it makes sense, with the expenses and all, good info. It would seem that they would allow them to travel football wise sense basketball and baseball teams are allowed too. It would only be fair. I think it would be great for football not just ohio by NKY teams such as the Highlands, Beechwoods to travel to compete with these teams that the sports analysts claim to be the best to see where we compare.

An apology to CF, I saw the scores and it looks as though Elder ran with STA last year didn't see that before.

  3. I wonder why Florida HS's won't schedule Ohio HS's more often??

It's a two way street there bubba. We have played and beaten FL schools in the past 10 years. Probably have more W's than L's vs the Sunshiners to be honest with you.

You don't have to convince me how good Ohio HS football is. I know first hand. I know how scheduling works, and i doubt either state would back down from the challenge. Its tough to get either of the schools to travel that far out of state unless its at a Herbstreet Classic type event, (which i think is great for hs football) , but until there able to play the top teams from FL, CA, TX I doubt you'll see to many teams from the area ranked #1. Analysts will almost always go for the team full of speed and D1 athletes. i don't know how many D1 athletes Elder or Colerain have but it is nothing compared to STA or other FL power teams.

  4. When you are pulling kids from all over God's green earth it's not that hard now is it? I wonder how many of those "prep" stars have actually lived in the sunshine state for more than 6 months?

There have been a half-dozen Ohio schools over the past decade that could run, and beat, this year's STA squad. They are good but are not the second coming. I really struggle even calling them a high school team given the way that program is run and how their talent was "assembled". :irked:

I'm don't how they get kids to that school, I'm sure there are legit kids there and some that have question marks.

I can't compare teams of the past to this years #1, because we will never know, but until Ohio schools play the teams from Florida on a consistent basis and prove to the country they can hang i don't see them being ranked #1. JMO.

  5. I understand that Brossart coaches wanted to try and schedule some opponents for potential wins, but come on! This schedule couldn't get any easier. I don't want to take anything away from the players at Brossart, because they do play hard every game, but this does nothing to prepare them for district play, where they will get stomped on again

    Brossart 26

    Jenkins 12

I understand where your coming from. I don't know the numbers over at Brossart but I know they're a fairly new program. Sometimes you have to schedule cupcakes to get interest. I'm sure things will change once they get and stay established. It takes time to become anything in football and wins spark more interest than losing, its tough enough getting kids to come out for small schools considering the amount of sports they offer, so its a program builder.

  6. I believe the boys are focused for a smaller school. Btown is a team Scott thinks they can run with, so they'll have confidence in this game. Also Scott's first away game that's why I think it will be close. There out of their comfort zone but have enough to pull it out in the end. Scott by 6.

  7. QUOTE=Off_Constantly;3516082]That's why i said i didn't want to anyone to take it the wrong way. Even if they had tackled like their taught he would of had a good game just not 260+ yards. He is a very strong kid and has tons of ability. His yards after contact were unbelievable, but the way the kid is built and the way Scott tackled contributed to a lot. There were many times they had him in the backfield but had his shirt or by the waist and your not going to tackle this kid in that fashion, no way. He had great runs a lot of which Scott had the hole covered and he bounced outside and broke arm tackles. This kid had good vision and the ability but Scott had many opportunities to have him down with either no gain or minimal but didn't get low.

OK, I got ya now. I thought for about a half of football Scott did a pretty good job. The first half he only had a couple long runs and I know of one or two that were called back. But yes he is a very strong kid and runs very hard also. I know it is early, and maybe a little partial, but so far I would consider him the suprise of the year in NKY.

I agree he took over in the 2nd half. Scott played a good game but lack of depth hurt them. They have to many players going both ways with very little rest. Although it was a heart-breaking loss for the Eagles I think that they showed a world of improvement from their game against Conner. I know Coopers program is young and most don't expect much from them but I think Scott can use this as a builder type game. A good young 6A program and Scott hung with them. Hope Scott can move forward from this. Cooper will give alot of teams fits

  8. As previously stated Scott frosh lost 28-0 to Holmes not 38-0. Holmes was low on numbers and brought down sophmores, Scott played all freshman. Holmes was up 6-0 and driving in the red zone when they fumbled and Scott recovered right before half. Scott had it 4th and long with seconds left on the clock and threw an int which Holmes returned for a TD and converted the extra point. 14-0 at half. Scott moved the ball well but just couldn't punch it in. Had multiple red zone possesions and were unable to come away with a td and holmes capatilized. Scott has a lot to work on but i think these kids can come away with a few victories this season. As far as the future of Scott football, Coach Campbell is building and trying to get the confidence up in the program. I think he is taking steps in the right direction.

  9. You don't think that Bradley's skills and running ability had anything to do with making people miss or not giving them a choice but to try and dive at him or grab on? Just a question.

That's why i said i didn't want to anyone to take it the wrong way. Even if they had tackled like their taught he would of had a good game just not 260+ yards. 10. According to the paper, Bradley had 268 yards and at least more than 70 called back from one of the many penalties Cooper had on the night. I believe he had a 5 yard run called back with 40 seconds left in the first half and I know of a couple of more 10 plus yard runs called back as well. Scott dominated the line for most of the game and just ran out of gas. Bradley may be the hardest runner to bring down in NKY this year, and yes I know about Simpson. I don't think he is as fast as Simpson and Simpson is a great, hard runner, but the runs I've seen Bradley make are just as good. I really thought, after reading the reports on here about Scott before the game, that Cooper would win rather easily. I was wrong as well as Scott outplayed them for all but 25 seconds but Cooper boys kept fighting until the end. I still don't see them keeping it too close against the 6A teams at the end of their schedule but I hope I'm wrong.

Also, one of our Freshman, Taylor Centers, made his varsity debut in the first half as defensive end. This Freshman group will be making several debuts on varsity next year, IMO..

Had more than that called back. I think it was the first drive he had a 50 yard run called back on a holding penalty.

I don't want people to take this the wrong way because the kid is a heck of an athlete and could do some big things but Bradley would not of had the night he did if Scott wrapped up. The constantly tried the shop cart tackle approach as well as tackling high. Bradley's legs are huge and if you continually tackle him high he will run right through it, absolutely have to hit him low. That being said it was a great football game to watch and I wish both schools the best of luck

  11. These two are obvious power house schools locally and while Elder has a 3 next to them, no way they can run with Aquinas. i would love to see an area school go to 1 in the Nation but until they start playing the teams from Florida and the west coast we won't see that. Aquinas has to many athletes for the Panthers or Cards to match up with.
