  1. Great FSU Coach, Bobby Bowden, was asked a while back on how he would respond to another coach who thinks he is running up the score and he said he would tell the opposing coach-- "It's your job to keep the score down, not mine. If you don't like the score, either recruit harder or coach better. I've got to coach my team and you've got to coach yours. You can only coach one team."

College is a lot different from high school. Like stated in the quote recruit harder. Recruiting isn't a privelage in High School sports, and some schools can't get the athletes that others are fortunate to have. Whether it be inner city or what not. 170-35 is as unsportsmanlike as it gets. You make the same statement from a 95-35 or even 100-35 score. Everyone knows you are the much better team by that margin of victory rather than imbarrasing a team by 135 points. What exactly does that prove? What statement does that make? To me it shows no class from the administration down and no positive example. When you put your starters back in when you up by 30 with 3 minutes left to try and break 100 that's asking for what many have already said, for someone to get hurt. The statement is made in the 30 points while your seconds or thirds are in the game. this coach may not be blessed with this talent in a few years and if I were a rival coach who has a good athletic class you can bet your life savings I will return the favor. Does that make me any better probably not, but what goes around comes around.

  2. Did anyone see the Celtics game last night? They had an interesting scenerio that resulted in a 5 point play and a 7 point point possesion.

Hawks had a fast break and big baby Davis fouled the guy. They called it a flagorant foul, and the boston coach argued it should have simply been an intentional foul and got a 2 technical called on him, during this time his assistant also got T'd up resulting in 5 free throws. The player hit all the free throws and the Hawks got the ball back and made the basket.

  3. Uh, I think it means that there are athletic scholarships available at Division I and Division II colleges and if students are interested in those scholarships, there are certain steps they need to take to make themselves eligible to do so.

Seems pretty straight-forward to me. Am I missing something? :idunno:

 What is the deal with Colerain bball? I don't know to much about the school other than football. I think we all know that they have talent on the football field, do any of those athletes even attempt bball?

  4. Newport played a great first half. Newport IMO was in control of the first half. It wasn't Holmes slowing the tempo in the first half. That isn't their style of play. Newport was all over Holmes on defense in the first half. Holmes shot from the outiside most of the first half. Now, the second half was all Holmes' style of play. IMO Newport got tired in the second half. IMO the difference in this game was Newport not hitting their free throws and not using their bench. Holmes has a lot of weapons on their bench.

While I agree Newport played good D in the 1st half the definitely did not control it. I really can't explain why they took so many outside jumpers. At no point did they make a strong attempt to go inside. As far as the FT you are correct they can keep you in a game or push you over the top and Newport had no legs in the 2nd to shoot them. I don't know much about Newport but #33 better his head on straight. He spent more time trash talking Pittman and complaining to the refs that he completely took himself out of the game. He got lucky he didn't get T up either for taunting after a foul call. I was impressed Holmes' D. I knew they were tough but I didn't realize how much they intimidated other teams. I felt that Newport really altered a lot of easy shots because of the presence of Holmes defenders.

  5. Did either of the three, Johnson brothers, or Pittman, have any dunks in the game:dancingpa

Like Walter said just the one, but he had the opportunity for another earlier in the game that had it gone through probably would have shattered the glass. He had what seemed to be some built up anger on that. It caught the back end of the rim and shot up pretty high in the air. It was an impressive miss had it gone through that place would have gone nuts. Newports #33 was trying to talk trash to Pittman after that and from the upper bleachers you could read Pittman's lips saying you almost became a poster.

IMO, J.J should bring the ball up court more. Marc you been to more games than I maybe you can help me out here but I feel he is more comfortable handling the ball, so it seemed. Does he always play like that handling the ball or was it the opponent?

  6. Bellevue needs to keep it on the ground all night and out of the hands of the very very fast Beechwood QB and backs.

I agree they need ball control but they need to do something other than just giving the ball to Buckler. The kid is a stud but as I've said before it is not easy to beat BW if you're one dimensional.

  7. NKYFL is something that can't be judged from. I grew up in that league with the Bengal Tigers and had so many friends do the same but we didn't all go to the same high school. I had this discussion with my dad the other day. The reason HHS is so good is the have the Ft. Thomas league, runs the same offense as HHS. These kids by the time there at Highlands know that offense like the back of their hand. NKYFL you have a number of different teams such as Bengal Tigers, players go to Holmes, cov cath, beechwood. Raiders go to Scott, SK, Dixie. NFF, NCC, Newport. They just don't always stay together. While I think the NKYFL is important in the growth of football and does a great job of what its supposed to do, which is teach the game. It's just not a league where high school coaches can rely on getting the best players to come to their school. A good example J-Load played for the Raiders but went to Highlands. Could you imagine what kind of program Scott could of had with him

  8. Holmes will Find out that the upper part of 4a is no more nicer than the teams that made them find a way to get out of 5a.

We know what we have to face. You seem to get on most Holmes threads to remind us of that. Instead of hating on them why don't you congratulate them on a successful season. From my understanding they found themselves out of 5a because enrollment numbers not becuase of who they had to play.

  9. All starters were out of the game very early in the 4th, I believe the 9 minute mark. I forgot to mention the game included one of the most violent collisions you could imagine. On fourth and long Sowder took off running down the sideline near the SK bench, I can't remember if it was Bailey or Pinkleton from SK but when they collided, it made a very loud noise and both players went flying.

Thanks for the info on that.

Most of us know that Marksberry may play his starters a little to much in some blowout wins, but as far as the way they have played since HC you can't blame him for leaving them in for 3 quarters. Like someone else said you need to prepare these boys for a run to the Championship.
