  1. Don't get this one. Why would a high school kid roll over even if you are getting beat? They are playing the game they love. They don't practice all week long to "roll over"!:irked:

They have some really nice players. Qb played a great game considering who they were playing. Defensive guys made some really nice plays. They were just out maned. These things happen sometimes.

I've been to many Scott games this year and have seen two different teams. One that shows up and plays and one that just puts on a uniform.

  2. I'm saying let the kids play the game. If there is a play that has a significant effect on the outcome of the game, then call it, but if not, don't just throw the flag to throw it. Take the sideline infraction penalities, I'm sure it is some sidejudge that really wants to be a part of the action.

Horse collars are dangerous, I've seen them called in quite a few games this year. This is a rule in place to protect the kids. Sideline infractions are ridiculous I agree with you here if they aren't disturbing the play then don't call it. Maybe they need to put in the wide sidelines like the NFL or something but this call is so minor

  3. I agree with futurecoach here on BW field they win by 3 scores. BW's defense did a great job. Bellvue did what they could hats off to them but what did everyone expect. A one dimensional offense is not going to beat BW. They made good half time adjustments and Bellvue had nothing for them.

  4. For those of you saying Highlands will not run up the score, your seriously mistaken. I've been apart of some ugly scores 81-0 and I think 88-12. I remember it was like 64-0 in the 3rd quarter with the starters still in. I've also seen lopsided scores from HHS and Scott 80+ on the board. This one shouldn't be any different, regardless of 1st team or seconds playing.

  5. Why did some school use sophomores in some games and not in others. I can see if you don't have enough freshmen to field a team. But it sounds like some school played sophomores when they had enough freshmen.

As far as I know it had to deal with numbers. I don't know Newports case I thought they were real low on numbers, Holmes was low, and Scott had eligiblity issues with the team from what I hear.

  6. I see what you are saying, this was discussed in a previous thread also. The decision was made in February based on last year's freshman team with a lack of knowledge as to how good this freshman team would be. After, with no offense to other teams, somewhat coasting through the freshman schedule so far I would almost count on Cooper playing against the bigger freshman schools next year. If you saw a freshman game last year, you'd understand why Cooper played in the lower level, some of those games were very tough for the kids. :thumb:

I understand completely why Cooper did this. New program, numbers, talent...I'm sure they knew some of what they had but the call had probably already been made. Like I said earlier they should move up, and compete with the big names in football because if there program continues to grow at the current rate they may make a lot of other BC schools upset. I think they will make noise in the big division in freshman as well as varsity in the future.

  7. Scott, Holmes, and Highlands all have larger enrollments than Cooper.

Cooper plays 6A because their principal wanted to play in the same division as the other county schools.

Cooper is a small 4A school according to their enrollment.

You missed the point completely. My post was about where schools need to be not what their enrollment status is. I stated the districts to make the point that if you have the interest in the program it doesn't matter what classification your under. I didn't know Cooper had smaller enrollment but they still need to be and deserve to be playing in the large division based off talent and results. Again based off results Scott is in the bottom of the small school division, so what makes you think they should be competing against the CCH's, Highlands, Ryle's or BC. They need to be where they are to be competitive with other schools.

  8. I agree with you about Scott....As far as BW last year, they dressed 30 freshman last year and felt they could play with the bigger schools. This year is a diffrent story (more 7th & 8th graders) with only about 8 freshman coming out to play football. I don't believe that the general public have a problem with smaller schools trying to better theirselves by playing up....At least not as much as the large schools playing down.

The difference from Cooper and Scott in the small division is Scott 5A is competing against Newport 2A and Holy Cross 2A that would be seed 5, 6, 7 which is the bottom of the league. Cooper will likely be #1. I understand why Cooper did what they did, but they need and deserve to be in the big division next season where they compete with like talent. Scott however needs to be and deserves to be where they can compete which is in the small division.

  9. It looks like they are making up the game this coming Monday. I think Holmes will get the #4 seed regardless. Assuming both Scott and Holmes beat Holy Cross and Newport and lost to Beechwood, NCC and Cooper. Holmes wins the tiebreaker due to their head to head win over Scott. So Scott should be the #5 seed. They would get a bye in round one of the playoffs, since Lloyd does not have a freshman team, and then play the winner of Holy Cross / Newport.

I knew Holmes would get #4 but someone mentioned they were fighting for it. Now what is confusing is #5 (Scott) would get a bye then play the only teams they beat?

  10. One more thing since we are talking about top players, #42 Cameron Vocke for Beechwood is an incredible back. He makes cuts and squeezes out of tackles that just make you shake your head and ask how did he do that. Then when he gets in the open field he is extremely fast.

I watched him score against Ludlow friday night. Wasn't an overly impressive play but his balance after getting hit is. I think if he stays healthy throughout his career and gets stronger he may get some good looks. Thanks for the info voice.
