My update is that Webster Co went home a week ago.
-
Was the OCath / Butler County game as lopsided as the score would suggest? Not to look ahead too far, but what, if anything, can we learn about the potential MF/OCath matchup from this week's contest? How does BC's passing game stack up relative to OCath's?
Don't know how the game looked before the final score, but 42 to 28 is not lopsided.

I watch Illinois go through this process each year. They hold a bracket show on TV, the night after the season ends, much like the selection show for March Madness. I've always wondered how these teams are seeded in their bracket, they never take the time to explain. Do we know if CalPreps is the preferred method of calculating playoff teams in other states? Lord help us if we have to use the in state methods such Lit or Cantrall.

Murray has gotten their best player back who went out week 1 of the season. I don't think Murray will win this game, but I would not be shocked if they hang around for a couple of quarters. They seem to be hitting their stride at the right time. Pass D MUST show up though if they want any chance to make this respectable.

This will end up like the Monroe Co. 2ND round game last year. Glasgow makes an early score or two and then the Colts step it up to win easily in the end.
-
It would also be nice to have Arnett throw his 100th touchdown pass in his final home game
-
Butler has given up a ton of points to any team with a pulse this year, 52-15 red and black.
-
35-0 Christian up midway through the 2ND.

It's been a "few" games since Mayfield has had to regroup at halftime, but this coaching staff always figures out what they need to do and the players execute. Nice to have a quality opponent sandwiched between lopsided district games and the early rounds of the playoffs.

I think the winner of the quarterfinals (Danville, LCA, etc.) advances this season. I'll go with the Ads getting it done.
Agreed, but I would give the slight edge to LCA to represent the east at state. Don't see the Breds getting back.

Well, that home loss to Caldwell happened in 2008, a year that Mayfield lost 6 games. BTW, Mayfield last lost at home to McCracken, not Caldwell.
-
Just hoping McCracken puts their best foot forward this year. Turnovers for the Mustangs in this game last year turned what could have been an entertaining contest into an easy win for the Purples. Home field might be good for an extra touchdown, but this is still BG's game to lose. 48-28.

With Mayfield's offense even more efficient than last year, I'm curious to see how either a Cal or DeSales defense would slow them, seeing that is their strength. Mayfield shredded Corbin's D, and it's one of the best in 3 A. Think teams will have to keep Mayfield under 35 PT. to have a chance.
-
Don't think there is another team that looks more similar to Mayfield than Caldwell Co. in regards to play calling. Most years, however, Mayfield does it better and will again this year too. 42-24

Run that clock. 37-0, 11 and change in the 2nd
-
14 to 0, 6 and change in the first

Traveling to Owensboro and then Louisville is a picnic compared to the Louisville and then Fort Mitchell trips of the past, STRICTLY speaking from a travel standpoint.

7 Owensboro
5 McLean Co
3 Murray
2 Marshall Co.
1 Barren Co

PTHS is such a Bi Polar team. Haven't been able to get a read on them all year. Hope Coach Barber finally has them headed in right direction but wouldn't be surprised if they turn around and lose to Ft. Campbell.
I haven't been able to get a read on them in the last decade.
-
Fall break hangover in the first half before putting it into another gear in the second half. Final score about as expected.

7 Metcalfe

3 Henderson

This was the last season of a rather "rough" patch for Mayfield. After being blown out by Ft. Campbell the previous week, the Cardinals made a 4th quarter rally to break the hearts of the Bomber fans who thought they had their first win against Mayfield. They are still waiting for that first win today.
-
I would give Ballard Memorial a slight nod over Murray to finish 2nd in the district, but don't see them making much noise in the playoffs.

A night at the woodshed for the Bears. Henderson has run for his life since this blowout started.
Catholic over Murray by 26 in the second quarter, so closing down War Memorial this season with another running clock
