OK, I think I am ready to return to the small school public playoffs now, also known as 1A football. Mayfield is going to have problems matching up with CAL for a couple of years considering all of their underclassmen.
-
It was a one score game as the 4th quarter started.
-
Read that in the CJ this morning. A couple of series in and home field advantage should help to quell the nerves.

7:30 eastern, 6:30 central

I think the OC head cOach had a lot to do with the call, he's on the field crying all night.
I did see him come on to the field after the second touchdown as Landon raised his hands to signal touchdown. He kept them up as he turned around facing the OC side and they all went ballistic over there looking for a penalty as if he were trying to show them up by raising his hands. Smh

What I noticed with Wright, with his height, he has those HUGE strides. Kid should have played for DeSales because he runs like a Colt... a race horse. I am telling my kicker... DO NOT kick to this guy, if he gets into open space there's going to be trouble. On the other hand, I have to agree, some of the tackling was just bad. You won't see that from Mayfield. One of Wright's long receptions came when he got way behind the defense, hopefully you won't see that Mayfield, but it's been known to happen.

In some regards, Arnett is being punished for being one of the most hard-nosed, toughest, fundamentally sound football players that takes the field every week. Because he plays the same way every single snap, and someone from OC who was an offensive player flipped to defense after the interception, found himself simply not ready to play the other side of the ball.

Great write up, as always. Nicely done.

This is just a small sample of the poor judgement officials used all night.

You are correct. LA Tech will host WKU if both win, as expected, this weekend.

With Butler Co. and Owensboro Catholic being two of the highest scoring teams in 2A, Mayfield only gave up 6 pts to each. In fact, Butler Co. 6 came on the JV. DeSales gave more points to Mayfield last year than any other team they played, and Corbin allowed 35 to Mayfield, 28 in one half this year. These are 2 teams that pride themselves on the D. With Mayfield being more efficient on offense this season, I can't see how my Cards don't win this game. Catholic just wore down in the 4th quarter last week trying to chase Bright around in the rain all night. If he got tired, he never showed it. Look for him to put his teammates on his back and seal the deal in the 4th. Cards by 13.

CAL's D-Line this year is head and shoulders above DeSales' line from last year. They're a dominant force up front.
Just curious, with the above statement, did you feel that DeSales would win the rematch this year?
-
Like Corbin, CAL will see what a fine tuned, balanced offense will do to an above average defense.
-
Catholici is wearing down. Mayfield is starting to take over up front

I will watch the sunrise in Owensboro to bring back another win.

Can never go wrong at Drury. Food in the morning and the evening with comp adult beverages and unlimited soda.
-
Fox back on defense this week?
-
I think you meant to say "of the 4th quarter". Running clock on Catholic after the first play of the 4th quarter.

I agree with Rambo! Try out Old Hickory:
I've been known to have lunch there and then on my way out of town pick up some in the Drive-Thru Line! Ribs are my favorite!!!
PLUS it's only a few blocks from Kentucky Wesleyan College. That's where the game's at right???
I will throw Ole South out there too, there over the summer. Good stuff. Very busy, but they got me fed quickly and on my way. Basically, Owensboro is a BBQ heaven. Playing there every other year will sure beat traveling to another rural county in that district with limited food options.

Just watched about 2 quarters of OC and Mayfield will have to implode... turnovers, major penalties and fall for a few OC trick plays not to win this game. I was impressed by Vonn Williams coming out of the backfield. He will be a great one before he graduates from there. I just don't see him finding lanes to run through against Mayfield. Just hope the rain stays away until this one is over. 42-22 Mayfield

Heck, just look a the Murray scores from last season between the two teams and the end result for OC. It matters not. BTW... I went back and looked at all 17 pages of last year's thread of this game, and while I saw plenty of confident Cardinal fans, I failed to come across predictions of a blowout as stated early.
FYI... it's a long ride to Columbia or Ft. Mitchell. Owensboro is a piece of cake with a sundrop from Beaver Dam to wash it down.
-
I would like to watch some video of OC first before jumping into a prediction, but I always like the faster team playing on turf. No doubt who has the most team speed here.
-
Gridiron Glory highlights on WPSD were terrible, don't bother checking them out. One touchdown highlight for Mayfield, one for Butler and two other random plays. There for the entire game and that was the best offering.
-
Butler County radio folks said they hadn't seen a team this good all year and it didn't matter if it was Butler Co. or Owensboro Catholic, Mayfield's D is/will be in the backfield all night. Close to perfection tonight for Mayfield.

Did these hotels just become harder to come by now that WKU will host a conference championship game, barring a collapse at Marshall tonight?
