I have watched almost every game since 1995. Your question got me to thinking. I think it would have been in 2007 or so when Ft Campbell had a good program. No one wanted to play them in the bowl game at Marshall County and Coach Joe spoke and said we would. We were tied or real close to tied at halftime. In the second half they came out at put at running clock on us. That was when it took at least a 42 point lead to get a running clock.

Who can forget the 55 LCA dropped on Mayfield in the 2009 state championship

I will simply echo what has already been said.  Hendo is the only common opponent. OC wins by 20 at home, Mayfield wins by 14 on the road, to me that's a wash.  I do give the edge to Mayfield on SOS.  I think that is clear to anyone paying attention.  However, OC has also beaten all their opponents decisively.  There were no close calls.  So that has to be taken into consideration.

I have been very impressed with Mayfield's elevated play the last three weeks.  I felt like they were sleep walking thru the back half of their schedule, and to see them crank it up the way they have gives me confidence that they can handle anything coming their way if they stay the course and keep playing with the same level of intensity.  They certainly have more offensive balance than OC.  And from what few highlights I've seen of the Aces, I feel like Mayfield will have an edge on the LOS.

I don't know what to think of OC.  Schedule is lacking, but again there were no close calls.  And if I had to pick the most dangerous offensive weapon in high school football it would be a dual threat quarterback.  Atwell looks the part.  He has complementary pieces.  They obviously play good team ball.  And at this point, all it takes is one good game to seal the deal.  Can they keep doing what they have done all season while playing the toughest opponent they have played yet?

Going to be fun to see how this one plays out!

Maybe go back and give the Owensboro score a second look.  That was a game the Red Devils could have certainly won.

The 2 teams that scored 40+ on Beechwood were both ranked in the top 10 in their class during the season

Which just proves they were overrated. Rankings are fun and all, but they are just someone's opinion and they've never won any team a playoff game. In a state where everyone makes the playoff, one of those Beechwood opponents made a first round playoff appearance, the other second round. 🤷‍♂️

62 to 44 Mayfield right now in the poll

And maybe the scoreboard on Friday.

The old saying, of course, is defense wins championships. I just can't overlook the fact that the Beechies gave up over 40 to one middle of the pack team and over 50 to another average team, fortunate to win them both. Great teams don't do this. Yes defense has been lights out since then, but they haven't played anyone either.

We said before the game that Mayfield is much older and stronger team. They have a man child 5th year RB who was the difference vs Murray defense that is littered with freshman and sophomores. That defense will only get stronger and better. I’m just not sure what happened to all those running clock, jv second half, Murray hasn’t improved comments
I hope Mayfield wakes up gets it back the next few weeks because they didn’t play championship football last night. Good luck to the Cards!

They haven't. 40 point loss to Madisonville and 4th quarter scores to beat Ft. Campbell just to even have another crack at Mayfield. Maybe tell us how good Ft. Campbell is since they only lost to the much improved Tigers by two TDs. Murray still lost to Mayfield and never had a chance once they fell behind. Can't play "chew the clock" when you're losing the game. Right strategy, but only 2 quarters of execution.

I picked Murray in the regular season matchup, this time I’ll go with Mayfield in a close one. Murray has improved since h at matchup and could catch the Cards looking forward a week.

This is wrong in so many ways. It won't be close, Murray hasn't improved , 1-1 since their last meeting vs Mayfield just 3 weeks ago, (blown out by MNHopkins and outlasting an average Ft. Campbell ballclub) and Mayfield plays one game at a time - the coaches make sure of it. Besides Murray is beat up at the end of the season and won't even be full strength for this game.

Christian County scored first to go up 8-0, and then Mayfield ran off 72 straight. That’s alot of points, but the Colonels never punted and many times gave the ball back to Mayfield deep in their own territory. Gordon Lyles is the QB for the Colonels and is a weapon that has to be accounted for. He took a beating tonite.

😆Jordan Miles is his alternate ego because that's the Christian QB

Verizon doesn’t have 5G capabilities either, while T-mobile and AT&T do. My guess is still that the tower was way too congested so they throttled speeds.

Verizon in Paducah has 5 G in selected areas of town. And my reasoning above has already been confirmed to me by someone within the Paducah school district.

  9. Internet connectivity came back, full strength, in the stadium at halftime. I suspect PT puts a damper on their campus for students trying to use their phones at schools. I know other districts do this. I think someone at PT recognized this and flipped a switch. It was the difference between night and day once that occured.

  10. Mayfield lived on the Tilghman side of the field in the second half and wiped out a two TD deficit, but couldn't get the stop on defense or a conversion on offense when they needed it most.  And how many 15 yard penalties did PT have again this week, 6 or 7 , that's gotta stop.

Instead of breaking a 17 game Mayfield winning streak, I prefer to say that Mayfield is 17-1 against PT in the last 18 meetings.

Nearly as bad as the cameras cutting from one shot to another and viewers missing most of the action.

Note for PT camera crew, just stick to the wide angle from above.
