  1. That seems a bit disappointing. Especially for the Kentucky Gators. No one wants a forfeit win. Kind wrong of them to enter just to play a few games and then bounce. I guess they paid their money though.
  2. Wow, I was not aware of the forfeit. Why was the game forfeit? Sounds like DSAS had a nice weekend.
  3. Actually, I believe the NKY Bulldogs beat DSAS by 9. I saw the game. They were really good as well.
  4. I agree with some of what you have. Shining Stars-McFarland is the best in the 17's in KY i think (Sewell, Gabbard, Jackson, Flannery, etc). Derek Smith and the KY Players also belong in the top 5 IMO. I also like the 5 teams that you have for the 16's, but I also dont think that you can leave out the NKY Bulldogs. I think I would take out the Hoyas Elite, which is a really good team and put them at 6th and give the 5th spot to the Bulldogs. I think you could also interchange 3,4,5 between the Charlotte Court, Lex Ice, and NKY Bulldogs. This of course if we are talking about this current summer. I understand some of these teams have been around for a longer period of time. I will give DSAS the top seed and SS the 2nd seed because of the tournaments they have won and placed in. But I dont think you can discount the other 3 in anyway. All are very good team and are loaded with talent. The 15's I would put the shining stars over The Truth personally. I think SS 15's is loaded with good young talent. My take.
  5. DSAS 17's looked pretty good this weekend. They made it to the final four and lost to the Kentucky Gators (as previously posted). The NKY Bulldogs had a 3 or 4 total wins I believe and 2 of them were big wins (in the mid 20's) in the first 2 rounds of bracket play. They made it to the final four and lost a close, hard fought game to a very good team called the Louisville Legends. Bobby Stauffer and Todd Vollet (both Ryle Highschool) had good tournaments. The Louisville Legends, were made up a few of the former Louisville Lakers players, and some other very solid players. I am short with names, but I know that they had Toney Kimbro playing with them. Kimbro had a double-double in one game I saw, but was held pretty well in check against the NKY Bulldogs. Overall he had a really good weekend though. Doesnt he live in NC now or somewhere? The legends went undefeated in pool play, and the closest game was a 12 point win. I would have to guess this Legends team won the 16's bracket. Just a really good, solid team. The Kentucky Gators, as previously posted, won the 17's bracket. That is great!
  6. That is fantastic. I saw that they made it to the final four against the DSAS 17's. I talked to a player from the Gators who said they were playing really well. According to their score cards, they were performing nicely. Glad to hear it!
  7. Which Team KY? It seems as if there is more than one Team KY???
  8. What happened to Tyler Fangman on this team? He seemed to be a good addition to them in another tournament earlier in the summer. He knocked down some nice 3-point shots.
  9. Good to hear that DSAS is doing so well. Are the DSAS 16's playing anywhere this weekend? I noticed that the NKY Bulldogs are playing at the Bluechip Early Exposure tournament at MidAmerica and they went 2-1 in pool play. I got to watch them a little bit in a win against a very good looking MBC Stars team from Illinois (I believe this is where they are from, I heard people talking). I also had the opportunity to watch a team called "Louisville Legends". Does anyone know who this team is? I know they have some very familiar looking players on this team, but I dont know them by name. I have also never of a team out of Louisville called the Legends. They were very good. Beating up on other teams. On another bright note.... Terrence Williams, Payton Siva, Andre Magee (i believe his name is) were all playing a pick up game at the Hoops facility. It was good to see a local NBA player up close. He looked real good. How are the Kentucky Gators doing in this tournament at MidAmerica?
  10. Where is everyone playing at this weekend? Has anyone heard about a tournament going on in Louisville... The Blue Chip or something. That's fairly local so I may stop by there. Anyone know of any other tournaments locally?
  11. The Charlotte Court definitely deserve some respect. I dont know the 16's coach personally, but he seems to conduct himself in a respectful manner on the court and with those kids on his team. Barkesdale is an absolute stud and he seems to be a good kid as well. They also have beat some really good and respectable teams, namely the Shining Stars 16's which are loaded with talent. I believe they also beat the NKY Bulldogs in the beginning of the summer by 1 or 2 points. I would have to definitely agree that this program deserves some credit and respect. I hope to get to see them play a few more times this summer.
  12. It's good to see some support for him. He is good.
  13. Has Kyle King been starting for that team all year? I just don't recall that in the games I have seen of the SS 16's. King sounds like another kid from Northern Kentucky in Jake Flesch of Conner. This kid can score when he feels the need (he does hesitate at times though), very good free throw shooter, good penetrator and has the ability to adjust his shot around the rim, and also defends very well. I agree that these SS 16's have very good guards in Gilbert, Schuette, Smith and what I have seen of King. They also seem to represent pretty well. Good for them.
  14. I saw that game as well. I have also seen Stauffer and Thelen a few other times this summer. Jake Thelen may have a better jumpshot than Bobby Stauffer, but I cant say that he is better than him on the offensive end. Stauffer finishes around the rim very well and has the ability to physically dominate his opponent and he did just that against Thelen. Stauffer is also getting very good at putting the ball on the floor from out around the elbow. I also agree with previous statements about Stauffers ability to rebound the basketball. He does that quite well. As far as Thelen, he is a really nice ball player and I am sure he will do very well for CovCath this season. I hope he does and he is a really good kid from what I understand. But for now, I think Thelen and Stauffer are in different leagues. Thelen just needs to get tougher down there. He can do it.
  15. I did see that a King had a nice game against a team called Camp Daryll. If that was Kyle, I cant be sure. He and his brother are tough to tell apart for a spectator. I didnt see him get a whole lot of PT in other games that I watched. But, that might just be because I was watching at the wrong times. There were so many games to watch and walk around too. King is a nice player. Will he be playing with anyone else the rest of the summer?
  16. If you are being surprised by Boone County this year... something is wrong with your schools preparation. Boone County is without a doubt going to be one of the best teams in the 9th. This should be no surprise. They are returning a few seniors (Earls, Cotton, gabbard, popp, etc.) not to mention a few good juniors (Montgomery, Brown, etc.). As long as Gabbard is on the floor, this team will have a shot, and Travis Montgomery (6'4" junior) will really surprise people this year (only because he didnt get much playing time on varsity as a sophomore). It is my opinion that Boone County will be rivaling Highlands for the 2nd best team in NKY, both slightly behind Holmes.
  17. Glad to hear that SS performed well. I am all about any team from KY making some noise in these national tournaments. I had the opportunity to watch some of their games and Gilbert, Smith, and Schuette were performing pretty well from what I could see. One of the Shining Stars programs I watched got beat pretty good, but Im not sure who was on this team. They took like a 20 something point loss. I have heard of this Team Takeover and from what I understand they have a couple of players that have recieved D1 offers. They also won that tournaments Gold bracket if I understand that correctly. So, a loss to them isnt the worst thing that could happen.
  18. Tell what you think of the Ryle Raiders in 2009/2010.
  19. Where do we see the Boone County Rebels going in 2009/2010? What do you think they can do, or need to do to improve from last season?
  20. Lets get some top 5 discussion for 9th region basketball. State who you think will be the top 5 in the 9th region this coming season and why.
  21. I apologize, this thread was under the football blog portion. This was about the SI best sports program. I retract my previous statement. Go on with the talk of field hockey.
  22. This is a football blog. Where did field hockey come from? lol
  23. So a Steelers fan is going to drop the hammer, huh? Go figure. I hope they are ready for the Cincinnati Bengals to drop the hammer on them!
  24. I know that Cooper Downs plays on this team. How is he doing? I also know a Simon Kenton player is on this team, but I forget his name. How is he doing? Who else plays on this team?
  25. I have heard the Eric Gordon All Stars are really good. Hopefully if the Shining Stars-Jackson are local kids, they will be able to get that win. Who all plays for Shining Stars-Jackson?
