  1. Man you guys crack me up. 5 days ago everyone was upset that UK wasn't seeded higher because of the way they dominated Florida. Now they struggle with Princeton, who was excellent yesterday, and the sky is falling. Listen up, yesterday's game will have no bearing on tomorrows game. Last years game will have no bearing on tomorrows game.

    UK by 7.

Ok I am going to agree with what you said (which bothers me tremendously). Matchups and style of play determine outcomes. Not how they played yesterday. I think UK matches up great with what West Virginia has to offer and I think this is a bad matchup for the Mountaineers. And the only real feelings towards knocking UK out of the tourney last year is going to come from the fans as obviously only a couple UK players on this year's roster were even at that game.

  2. Semantics. Thin roster with little margin of error. I am not trying to turn this in to a recruiting debate or Cal's ineptitude in completing this year's team, just stating the obvious that UK has 6 guys which contribute. 10 guys on a team (1 of which is a walk-on), is not a full roster, btw, but that was not the intent of my post.

Well the roster is "filled" as to who Cal wants..................In fact one thing this team has done which would absolutely decimate them is stay away from injuries. Kudos to your strength and conditioning guy(s). Anyway still see them winning over WVU.

  3. If UK plays remotely like they did on Thursday, they will lose by 20+. As I have said all along, any win in the NCAA tournament with this depleted roster is just more icing on the cake from my perspective.

The roster is not depleted. You have every player you started the season with. Now some teams have injuries and they have depleted rosters. Fact is Cal has the players he recruited and that is on him if the players cannot play. Now that is not saying he is a bad recruiter; he is an unreal recruiter. But you have a full roster...they just are not good enough to play.

  4. This is huge. One of my biggest pet peeves was the development of players on the Bellevue teams (NKYFL) that would NEVER wear a Bellevue football uniform. While kids who would be playing at Bellevue sat behind them or got moved to other positions knowing that down the road that particular player would have to be a QB.

  5. Wel...........I do not think Jalen Rose exactly helped himself in the follow up interview. Comments such as I don't see Coach K in Detroit...............And he does not recruit those types of players because he does not want to see rings and jersies being sold.....................etc..................That to me shows he still feels some of the same feelings towards Duke.

He also mentioned that Coach K would never recruit him but he would recruit his kids (the connotation being that they are more affluent African Americans and more well spoken than he was).

CINCINNATI - Memories of Jermaine Hopkins' death in a gang dispute in 1996 still haunt Jim Tressel. The Youngstown State star defensive end was shot in the head as he tried to quell a disturbance near campus. He was and always will be 21.

A long time friend of the Ohio State coach told me tonight that the incident and hope of heading off future tragedies led him to quickly comply with federal authorities' requests to keep quiet about their investigation of a tattoo shop owner.

I'm told that Tressel was inclined to feel that playing along, even though Ohio State and the NCAA were technically entitled to know, would help take dangerous criminals off the street.

He naively thought a greater good was being served by his discretion. Naturally the Buckeyes' coach is deeply troubled by this mar on his reputation.

I'm told that while he didn't mention it Tuesday night to possibly mitigate the headlines, much more will eventually be revealed about the situation. At which time I'm assured, Jim Tressel will be proved to have done the right thing, if not in the correct manner.

  7. Ok I read an article from Dennis Janson (if somebody can link it correctly it is on wcpo.com) that stated he did not reveal the information because he is haunted by the shooting death of a Youngstown State player back in 1996 during a street disturbance. And since the tattoo parlor was under investigation for drug dealing he thought he was helping the federal investigators get a street thug off the streets and in jail by being quiet.........so he risked his own well being and did not report this because he wants to clean up the streets of Columbus. Very strange report................................................

  8. Great story about the "Burns" kid, Devon, I believe....yesterday at practice. Birds were running after practice, Dale right along with them..The whole team had gotten to the finish line, except for one. A frosh, not to be named, was struggling to finish as the team waits for him. Nobody leaves until everyone has finished...What does "Burns" do? He sprints out of the waiting pack of Birds, gets to the kid and finishes with him, all the while encouraging him....End of practice!! Great scene. What this program is all about....That and championships of course!!

I have seen this happen at 5/6 grade boys basketball practices......................Not uncommon at all................Still a nice gesture.

  9. Funniest line I have heard so far came from Colin C. "Ok Ohio State fan quit acting like University of Kentucky basketball fans ." This was in reference to a caller trying to make excuses such as everybody cheats Ohio State just got caught. For a nationally syndicated radio show he tends to rip this area pretty good.

He seems to not like anything Ohio, Cincinnati, Kentucky related.

  10. How does Bellevue look this season? I think they lost some very good Srs last year.

Very young but I think Coach Sanders has some good talent in those younger classes. Transition year yes but will be fine against all the Div III schools in the conference except maybe Beechwood. And will be well coached!
