  1. The Wildcats swept a double header from Silver Grove in two close games (scores not withstanding).

In the first game Pendleton led 4-1 going into the sixth and put up three runs to push the score out. Zach Louden (sophomore) pitched well enough to earn a win for the Trains giving up only 2 earn runs over seven innings.

In the second game 8th grade pitcher Briley Seiter continued to give the Trains quality innings and when he left the game he had only given up 2 unearn runs in five innings and left with the Wildcats clinging to a 2-1 lead. After scoring both runs in the first inning the Wildcats struggled to muster any more threats until he came out. Pendelton then added 13 runs off the next two Silver Grove pitchers to put the game away.

Freshman catcher Christian Pollitt continued his year long hot hitting for Silver Grove collecting three hits in the double header, while Seiter had 2 hits and a walk and freshmen center fielder Billy Miller added 2 hits in the 2 games.

Kudos to the Pendleton players for picking up two road wins today! If some one from Pendleton with some official stats could post the winning pitchers and some hitting leaders they definitely deserve some credit. (#28 pitched a real nice game in the second game).

  2. Yes he picked up his first varsity win, coming in the first inning with the bases loaded and all the runs having scored. Did a good job of working out of that and then giving up two hits and striking out 8 over a total of 5 innings.

Briley Seiter record stands at 1-1 having given up a couple earned runs in five innings in a loss to Beechwood about 10 days ago.

Christian Pollitt (9th grade) got the save giving up 1 run in two innings.

  3. Well........fascinating responses to get all defensive and all....but my point is the thread is about players WHO ARE PLAYING! Considering I do not know who all is on the freshmen roster with the exception of a handful of players, no I would not know who the "five" that you speak of......Further my point is they should be playing baseball now in high school and not waiting...............Because waiting tends to make players not play.........And with the coaching staff you have in baseball I do not know why you would not want to play.......But to bust out an "Omega Rockets" reference well first and foremost they have some excellent players and have added some excellent players for this season; not to mention they are fine young men. And I do not believe I have ever made any reference to that team or its coaches in any derogatory fashion in this forum whatsoever. Please spend less time reading between the lines and more just the direct message. I really do not have the intelligence level of several of you on here who can send cryptic messages.............

Now as far as the talent level; yes the talent level is excellent, but again I do not think you can judge it by those that choose not to play, but rather judge it by those that are playing.

  4. Agree with what you are saying here BB and what Ft. Bronc said in his post. The last few games that I have seen the frosh and JV, I firmly believe that this program is really on the verge of taking off. Just hope that the young talent continues to play the game so that JB and the coaches can reap what they have sewn over the last few years. I personally know of 5 current 8th graders that would be assets to this program in addition to what they already have, but chose not to play for various reasons. All 5 however will be playing this summer and the hope is that next year they have a change of heart and give the high school baseball program a shot.

JOAT do not take this as a personal shot at you but you know the kids that are out there busting their tails day in and day out really do not need to here about the "five" that are coming to play next year. They are getting a great leg up on those five (whoever they are and I have no clue in that regard). Personally as a player I would be upset with those "five" for not putting the time and effort into playing this year. And depending on the level of baseball they play (KNothole and SWOL American Bronze being examples of not really good baseball) they could be much further behind then they could anticipate. Good luck to the Birds who are playing!!!!! Thye deserve accolades not well they might get some added help next year.

  5. Shawnee is getting a real good one. I know playing three sports has really taken a toll on his body this season. With him focusing purely on baseball I think he is going to really take off. Currently he is really banged up but still gutting it out every game. Just too many injuries from football and basketball this season for him to get off to a fast start in baseball.

I also believe both their starting short stop and center fielder are seniors.........................

  6. Classification would not end 40 to 0 beatings. Augusta is pretty much lousy at all sports but they are in the same district. Change the rules of district play, when you have a team that is that bad allow them to concede and take the 4th place spot in that district so the score of that game isn't taken into account for tie breaking purposes. No body wins in a 40-0 game.

Yeah lets worry about the 40 runs messing up your tie breaker and not address the real issue................Sure take the 4 seed and then get beat by the number one seed in the district 40- 0.....yeah that is a great solution.

  7. Yes they do..............nice sarcasm on something that really needs to be addressed in baseball. MY point to that is classify and then you still will have the have's and have nots but you at least have a much more level playing field as the reason for classfiying. Every other state classify's, the NCAA classify's but for some reason Ky. has cornered the market on doing this right?????? Yeah ok..........

  8. Look at the math on this. A school with 135 high school students half being girls playing a school of 1,200 high school students half being girls (this would be a Class A school vs a 6A school which happens all over the state in district play). Now if you have 600 boys chances are you can come up with 14-15 quality baseball players to play varsity. Ok that means 2.3% of your male population can play varsity baseball at a good level. Now take 70 boys in the high school and get 2.3% of your population able to play competitive baseball...............Uh that means around 1.6 quality baseball players in your school system to play varsity baseball...................

Now yes there are exceptions to every rule but that is the problem with the arguments about certain schools beign competitive........They are EXCEPTIONS!!!!! Further baseball is a sport that requires some financial investment by a parent in gloves, spikes, and other equipment.

And as far as private schools those students attending those schools have (on average) more financial means to play summer baseball, to purchase the equipment, and therefore are much more developed baseball players than the players at public schools in traditionally poverty areas. Lets face it if you are paying tuition you can probably pay the baseball fees and the equipment; if you are struggling to make ends meet baseball equipment and playing summer ball is a luxury when you can play basketball with no equipment and football with all equipment provided.

  9. Yes I know I will get the same dribble from the big school prponents of "get better" etc.........But guess what in a sport like baseball kids in certain areas do not play competitive before they play in high school and then....................if you are a very small school you might have 2 or 3 legit players and the rest just....well filling spots. We classify football and that makes sense....it takes 11 players at a time and small schools cannot compete from a roster standpoint. Baseball same way.....it takes 9 players plus all your extra pitchers. I am not beating on your sacred basketball cow (5 players at a time so much easier to compete in plus schools have control of developing younger players in thir elementary programs.).....but lets face it baseball is not a school sport for most schools until you hit freshmen level in Kentucky and by that point kids can get way behind if not playing select or at least in semi competitive leagues. I am very familiar with one small school and they have kids starting who have not played summer baseball for 3 years!!!!!!!! As short a season as it is no coach is going to make that big an impact on a player and now that the player is 14 he has no chance of making a select team as he is too far behind those players..................

  10. Walton and Beechwood go extra innings in the tournament finals. Well pitched game by both starters as Suchanek went for Beechwood. Not sure who the Walton starter was. Cottrel (sp) came in and closed the game out in the 8th for Walton after they plated two in the top of the inning. And I am always sceptical when people talk about a kid throwing high 80's and/or low 90's. I am not sure if and or when he has been clocked but he throws in that range. WOW! Toughest thng though is he throws a breaking pitch that is very hard and sharp breaking.

  11. A little more practice and instruction by the area high school coach would make baseball worth watching, tired of seeing coaches stand on the field dressed like a coach with stop watches hanging out of their pocket and not saying a word, let these kids know what to look for and what to do with a pitch. Continue to teach the fundamentals and baseball in NKY will get better.

What coach? This is a confusing comment based on the fact that this game for this thread was played awhile ago???????

  12. Jump, thanks for your comments and understanding. I hope I didn't come off like a psycho dad. My son fills in with teams when he is able and eligable so people may have seen him and thought he jumps around. Perhaps I over reacted in my previous post, but frankly I was taken aback. I will pass the kudos along to Cam!

No overreaction..................Quite frankly I am glad you set some things straight as it is amazing when people speculate what they come up with!!!!!!:thumb:

  13. Well.......I have had teams/children play against Cameron and first and foremost he is a very hard worker who is not a pleasant opponent to face. Kudos for him for getting varsity playing time as a freshmen at a 6A school.

I think the "bouncing around" is a easy term to throw around but as I can attest kids can end up playing for a variety of teams for good reasons. Teams disband, combine, and/or doing what is best for your child is what a parent is focused on; not the perception of a group of "outsiders looking in."

  14. Geez.......easy chief. Was just asking a legitimate question. If he is so worthy and overdue, then why isn't he already in? Gotta be bias or rubbed the wrong person/s the wrong way, correct?

Roman Empire I am asking this as a serious question..........When Rick Pitino was bringing your beloved CATS back from the brinks of probation and thoroughly did exactly what you are wanting CAL to do........What was your opinion of Coach Pitino then?

  15. Hilltopper the game was scheduled at Pendleton and the game was cancelled by Pendleton for what I assume were poor field conditions. There is no "missing pitcher's mound" at Silver Grove. They are putting in a new pitcher's mound and that is why the Silver Grove team is not playing any home games early in the season. You can also couple that with the girls softball team playing at home yesterday against NCC and therefore the field was NOT available for the boys to play. Seriously..........the game is being made up at some point but again the Silver Grove field was in use yesterday by fast pitch softball.
