  1. I agree that the call unfortunately has to hurt one team. Again I am also agreeing that if you ask twenty people you will get twenty different responses. My angle was much better in the batter at the plate on the "leaning slightly into the pitch" and i will say from my vantage point it was clear that the batter leaned into the pitch. I feel I had a great angle and probably a better angle than the home plate umpire. I will say though as a baseball fan and not a fan of either team I want the call to give the runner an extra base to be one that is pretty blatant in a extra inning game that is tied. But both teams played well and the Camels came through with a clutch hit to win.

  2. I will add the runner was trying to get up and the fielder was on top of him (not intentionally). And again he had no chance of geting to third based on the play. Not sure how the rule reads as far as a runner trying to get up and if that has anything to do with it. Any way I looked at it not a way to have an ending for a great game. By the way in the 7th Michael Kremer tripled for the Camels to lead off the inning. Calvary intentionally walks 2 batters and the next batter hits a line drive to first that is caught and the first basemen steps on the bag fora double play. So now second and third two outs. Calvary again loads the bases and the next batter hits a low line drive that the Calvary SS makes a phenominal catch on to send the game to the 8th inning.

  3. I have to say I have never seen anybody try this but Brossart the host school schedules a 4:00 and 6:00 game with no lights. Now looking at this.................A game starts at 4 and once once it finishes you need at least 20 min. between games due to field maintenance and warm ups then 10 min. per team for infield. So by my math somebody thought it was a good idea to schedule games 2 hours apart figuring the first game was going to take......oh......90 minutes? Are you kidding me? The first game ended up going 8 innings but even if it ended in 7 innings it was already 6:30 which is about a normal game time (2 1/2 hours). So now you have two teams sitting there knowing that even if they play a 5 inning game you have no chance of finishing the game that night. Of course then the rains hit so they have not even completed the first inning. Even without the ran they only had an hour of day light left.

Not fair to make two teams split a game into two days. Now the rain obviously would have caused that but anybody with any sense knows that a high school baseball game is going to take longer than 1 1/2 hours plus you must factor in your maintance and infield time. A little thought would also anticipate a close game between CC and Calvary.................Meaning potential meetings on the mound, possible extra innings, etc.

  4. Classic ball game with lots of strategy, several lead changes, ties, almost winning home runs, and of course a strange call or two to go along with it.

Really cannot post details as i do not know the names of the players for either team. All I know is that in the bottom of the 8th the Camels have a batter lean into a curve ball to get on base (Calvary argued but to no avail) and then the runner steals second and it is a high throw. The Calvary player jumps to catch the throw and the runner makes contact with him causing both players to tumble with the Calvary player landing on top of the Camels runner. The ball goes into center field where the center fielder promptly fields the ball and gets it back in to the infield. Unfortunately for Calvary the runner is awarded third for interference since the fielder landed on him and both were entangled on the play (Calvary coaches very upset on this call and rightfully so). That runner scores the winning run.

  5. BB and JOAT hopefully your kids will opt back for baseball especially the type of athletes they are. As long as JB gets the time to build he will attrract baseball players (not just kids playing multi sports) especially younger ones who have not made a decision on the high school they want to attend. Good stuff going on will attract good players.

  6. I do not think it has to be a "Bellevue guy." What the job called for was someone to give the program stability, good coaching, and show an interest in being around for awhile and/or showing that they would not have to be let go after a few years ( or one season). Coach Sorrell would fit all these qualities.

  7. Well....take out the four district games and they are playing 6 really weak small schools (Brossart being the best of that group).......................................Considering they are 4 A I would not consider this a great schedule. Obviously your district games you are stuck with. Having Highlands and Covcath come to Pendleton is kind of neat though.

  8. With respect for who they played The Trains won their first game in the past two seasons. This team has been playing better and had some tight games with Bellevue, Ludlow and Paris over the past two weeks but could not get over the hump until today. Congrats to the coaches and players who have put forth a lot of effort this season only to have games elude them in every possible fashion. This team does have some very solid players especially in the infield and behind the plate. Unfortunately with a roster of 11 piching is an issue and they never seem to be able to get everyone hitting all at one time.

  9. Not the AD.................they have been through what 5 or 6 AD's in the last ten years. And one of those was there for around 4 years. I think the lack of success in testing, hiring teachers and coaches who stay, etc. speaks volumes about higher level leadership. As an FYI the elementary school in the district is one of the top elemetary schools from a test score standpoint in the state. All I am saying is kids do not get dumb when walking from Grandview Elementary to the middle/high school.

  10. Breds fan I highly doubt the first base coach said anything out of line.............PM me if you do not want to post what is reported he said......................As far as "throwing" at a batter..................if that were true at the high school level that coach shouldbe suspended for a long time. I highly doubt that was the case as well. Having been to Harrison County several times I am sure the host school was "a little rough" with talk, etc. Seen it happen there several times....................

  11. Well..................that Sayre team is pretty darn good...............ask the NCC faithful. They really gave them a tough game. Quite frankly you have to be happy with what the Pendleton program is doing this season. They look focused, disciplined, and are playing with a purpose.

  12. State championships in football and track are pretty obvious over the past 30 yrs if you open your eyes and come out of the fog. There is a lot of pride in the Tiger Athletic program and there is no reason to rip on the school for having low test scores. They are working hard at improving them by allowing teachers from other schools to come in and do training with the current staff on how to improve in that area. You have to look at the socioeconomic picture as well. Its easy to sit on the high horse in Ft. Thomas where many educated folks flock because they know the schools are good and look down on a river city where hard working people who have pride in their city work just as hard and care just as much about their schools. Instead of calling it an embarrassment we should be looking at the positives and hoping that our fellow neighbors can improve and create better opportunities for the kids who dont have the same luxuries that kids do in other cities like Ft. Thomas.

Q I will agree with parts of this. But the fact remains the leadership of Bellevue Schools is not equipped to lead high academic chamges. Look at the scores. They were vastly improving for four years but in the last three they have tanked and will not get better under the current leadership. They are losing high avcademic as well as some athletes as soon as they hit the middle school. The bottom line is hiring your buddies does not make your academics or your athletics better. Now as far as basketball is concerned they need to get someone like Rob Sanders has done for baseball to do for basketball.................command respect.............command they play hard............and stay for more than a year or two.
