  1. I can see the other side of the fence on that issue of making it easier for foreign players to become eligible. It means a whole nother group of employess who are over worked and underpaid by the NCAA to deal with foreign rules, regulations, government entitities, etc, etc ,etc..............................

  2. Those are all good points and I think common sense has completely "left the building." I also wonder about the foreign player issue. Does the NCAA really want to open the floodgates for foreign players (taking scholarships away) or are they looking for a way to keep the lid on that pipeline.....................

  3. Well lets keep in mind that Kentucky chose this route instead of sticking with the appeal process. While I agree this whole scenario has turned silly................this would have been over by now had they gone with what the appeals committee decided instead of asking for this to be reopened. Now not saying UK did not do the right thing or take the right strategy but again they do have a hand in this taking the time it has by the choices they made in how to attack the original ruling.

As far as the NCAA is concerned I can see where they are viewing Kentucky as being a pain and therefore dragging their feet. Or this comes down to when they were asked to re open this to review again that it was put back in line as if it were a new case instead of one they had already had dragging around for months. Any way you look at it.......it is not good for any of the parties involved.

  4. Dayton tournament is going on currently. Saw three six grade games yesterday afternoon.

I know Highlands six grade got destroyed by Summit View.

I know Dayton six grade lost to Blessed Sacrament.

Silver Grove and Walton played a great game at the sixth grade level with Walton pulling out a victory. Silver Grove had played Bellevue at noon and then had to play Walton at 2:50 and looked tired (6 man rotation) in the second half.

  5. Not knowing Coach Reinhart and never having seen him coach, I am looking at two things. One is the program itself. It has made good strides quickly as a fledgling program. The other is the discussion on here about the profanity he uses. It seems that some are saying he uses a lot and I do not really see that being refuted by those defending him. That is obviously something that if the adminisiration does not like it can be dealt with. I know the AD has coached (very succesfully I might add) and profanity has never been a part of his dealings with his athletes. The use of profanity is not really necessary to be successful........but for some coaches it is part of their language. Having said that some of the statements on here make him seem overboard.

  6. No offense to Beechwood either, but the teams they have beaten have a combined record of 0-6. And one of those teams (Heritage) lost to Latin in a scrimmage. The only team Beechwood has played with a winning record blew them out. I think it will be a battle. I could be wrong.

Scrimmages mean nothing.................However good point on the record of who Beechwood beat.

  7. Don't know the answers to all of those questions BUT, in modern history, starting with the Schlarman era in 1997-98 the Mustangs are 12-10 over Campbell County in all encounters (Crosstown, MCIT, District).

We (Brossart) are 8-5 in Crosstowns with Brossart winning 5 in a row starting in 2002, then losing two straight in 2007 and 2008, and Brossart winning the 2009 rendition. I know for sure that at least one of these (97-09) was played at the high school.

We are presently 8-3 in our last eleven games played between the two teams.

Ironically, in 1997/98, 1998/99, and 2008/09 the team that lost the Crosstown went on to win the district by beating the other.

Man modern history started in the 1997-98 season :D In the 1996-97 version of the game was one of the most lopsided ever with Brossart defeating Campbell County at the Middle school (which was the high school) by a very large margin!!!!!

  8. There is no "posting of job" rule for classified positions from a state standpoint. However for teaching positions there is a 30 day rule. Since many times the coaching and teaching jobs go hand in hand you get a 30 day window before hiring a coach due to the fact that they hired that person as a teacher as their primary job. Everytime this happens some body posts that they violated the "30 day rule." Now there are times that the 30 day rule does not apply even for a teaching position. After a certain date in the summer it does not apply due to the fact that school would be starting soon. You can get emergency waivers from KDE during the school year to not wait 30 days for an unexpected opening, etc.

  9. Because Newton never got the money Kanter did................................That is the difference..........Seriously take the Blue colored glasses off for a second. Now obviously UK felt they could not win the appeal or other wise they would have stuck with that instead of causing more of a delay.

Now do i feel the kid should be ineligible? No..................but some of you are stretching this into poor UK they are the martyr here against the big bad NCAA. Well..................if Kanter went to Washington you would not care one bit so lets not go over board in our UK is fighting the good fight for some moral reason...................They are fighting to get a recruit eligible and they should but lets not cannonize the university for sainthood.

  10. I think Louisville will become that "tough" non conference game for Ky. in the next few years provided the Cards do not have as coaching change. From a fan perspective I think it would be more enjoyable to see Ky. vs even a Minnesota, Duke or a military academy rather than the steady stream of bad MAC schools and non Div I schools. With playing in the SEC there is no reason to schedule Oregon or a USC, or an Ohio State..............but wouldn't a Duke football series be more interesting?????

  11. Seems with many of your posts you had an axe to grind with the coach before he even started, what gives? 4-2 seems pretty good to start the season.

First of all if you see the laughing face this post was directed towards the new now former assistant.............Second "axe to grind" is a joke. I gave an opinion about a school system who is hiring less than qualified coaches................and has had two very qualified quit right before the season started. And the assistant they allowed for only a little bit of time IS an excellent coach who would make an impact on how the game is being taught. But as was stated in another post he was not allowed to continue which is a shame especially if you read about the amount of players and (the real joke) managers who for some reason have to be allowed to practice even though they were cut because mommy and daddy complain.
