  1. No they play soccer games at Bellevue's football field, Dayton's football field, etc. Although maybe they do not meet a field dimension regualtion for a state game...............Kind of like you can play regular season baseball games on fields but a lot of fields do not meet post season requirements.................................

    Anybody?

  2. Was reading the article in the Enquirer this morning where Highlands soccer team won the regional title and will host a first round state game. The coached talked about not wanting to play at Tower Park because of the field conditions and weather......and then went on to say they really like playing on turf. Then talked about moving the game to.........................Dixie????????

Is not Highlands football field turf? Quite frankly from what I have observed they are very generous in the usage of the field with outside groups. Why would the game not be played there.........It is supposed to be Tuesday night...........

  3. Okay on a roster of 70......if 95% are homegrown that leaves only 3.5 players that could have moved in...........I do not think anybody has a roster that is 95% homegrown much less your team. Especially in Northern Ky. where moving two minutes away means moving school districts (vs lets say a large county area without all the independent districts in it). That is defining home grown as having grown up in your school system from lets say 3rd grade on up.

Seriously though you are providing nothing on this thread you started as to what you are trying to accomplish other than getting somebody to agree that Highlands is home grown talent or tto try to get somebody to say Highlands is a bunch of transfers which again a transfer cannot happen until 9th grade so your example of a Kid from indiana going to Trinity after 8th grade is NOT a transfer. It sounds to me based on other threads that Fairview may have quite a few "transfers"............

    Do you have a point??????????????

  4. Well every school gets transfers..........People do move...... Not sure what is trying to be accomplished in this thread. I have re read this and still do not see anybody saying Highlands has X amount of "transfers" Transfers to me being defined as someone who has to fill out the paperwork which is anybody who moves after 9th grade year whether they are a football player, swimmer, or cross country runner..............

  5. What happens a multitude of times is Player 1 lives in City A renting an apartment. Gets evicted rents another apartment in City B....................Tendency is to never change the address thus never switches districts. Now all the kids and most adults know he is not living in City A anymore but they also know he is half way through a season on his team and it is not his fault they have to keep moving. So he continues to play and go to school in City A.................................Chances are they will move several more times before he graduates but he will never change schools.

  6. Well first he asked how many transfers..........................Most kids who "move in" are not transfers.............Tendency is to move before 9th grade year.

Secondly...............................by naming all prviate schools I am sure somehow there is an agenda with that.

Third......does home grown mean they have lived there entire lives in that district?

Fourth..................most private schools draw from a large area so I would assume most of those kids are "home grown" since they live in the "legally defined" area that they draw from.

Fifth..................................if you define "home grown" talent as living their entire life in a district then you are going to be in for a surprise when if you really looked at it the more transient districts have kids bouncing back and forth all the time due to renting, closing of complexes, etc. Has nothing to do with recruiting but socio economics.........................

  7. Well.......Bellevue is 10 points better than Walton in the Lit .ratings. Somebody better go tell those guys from Walton who just beat Bellevue that they are really 10 points lower than the Tigers so they might want to give the win back................................In all serious I hate these ratings. I do not see Ryle as being the 2nd best 6A team in the state and certainly think Mayfield could beat a lot of teams (ranked 16 overall) ahead of them in the Lit. ratings.

  8. I feel bad for the Dayton coaches (yes I realize one of the issues was self inflicted but.................) they do not have their head coach for three weeks and now the players are no shows............................................Guys keep your chins up...things will get better....Hope the parents are supporting you in this decision.

  9. This is a benchmark game for Brossart...........A win and they are a player in the district............A loss and they are an also ran who is playing a weak early season schedule to get victories and add confidence.................

Personally I think it is going to be a touchdown or less difference in the score with Brossart coming out on top. To me this is a game that will go far in seeing who is the 3 and 4 seeds in the playoffs (with Walton thrown in the mix). Two of the three (Ludlow Brossart and Walton) will be making the playoffs and one will not......sorry Dayton you are way off the charts on this discussion......................

  10. Yes it outlines percentages. In other words if it takes 20 credits to graduate you must be on track as a freshmen to have achieved 20% (which means 4 classes if on a 6 period day) and by the time you are a junior you must have completed 70% of the credits.................................

Lloyd's policy is much tougher. Keep in mind eligibility is week to week and at Lloyd this makes it tougher on coaches because if a kid is failing lets say 3 or 4 classes you can pretty much rule them out for awhile...........But on a no pass no play doneweekly the fluctuation of those eligibile and in eligible is going to change much more dramatically than on a program following KHSAA guidelines.

  11. Well I know first hand that it is true and it is not a knock on Lloyd. Quite frankly Lloyd is to be commended for its tough policies on drugs and tough policies on grades. However when looking at reasons for lack of numbers both of these points MUST be taken into consideration. If other schools would go the same route they would have the same issues. Again this is not a knock on Lloyd but at the same time you have to recognize that it does play a role.

  12. I have heard recently that someone is spreading the word that Bluegrass has broke up and will not have any teams. This is far from the truth. Some people are just trying to get players to come their way. It is a shame what some people will do, regardless of who they hurt.I do know after talking to some player, that it not that coach Sandercan not or will not find a school for them, and almost all have said great thing about him and the reason for moving on has to do with other things. I've talked to Sexton and he's told me that he will be playing for the KBC this summer and Teegarden has left to play with the Kings along with Cottingham, Embs and Larimore and around Five other that played for Bluegrass last year. How is leaving a team hurting other when they do not want to play for that team, should they stay even if they are not happy with what is going on. I don't understand how they are hurting other. Maybe they all feel they were the ones being hurt by staying with Bluegrass, there most be more to this than I know and being told.

Yes it is true that several players left Bluegrass and no switching teams is not the problem here. First you should always do what you feel is best for your child. And if switching teams is what is best then so be it. However............there is a way to go about getting players for your team(s) and in my observation (which may be correct or not) some people associated with orchaestrating this "move" have a penchant for taking short cuts and trying to pry players from other teams including talking to kids who are committed to teams ,etc. I think that is where things are going in a wrong direction......

  13. Well.......it goes to show what one bad apple in a group can do to a team (or two teams.....)...................................In any event Bluegrass will get along just fine and be muc better off without the "problem parent" so to speak.

The sad thing is when a parent has to bounce their kid from team to team because people do not want their kids playing for him and then he turns around and takes players from other teams so that he can be happy and be involved in decision making instead of allowing his very talented players to play.......................Now I realize players moving to teams happens all the time but when you are contacting kids behind people's back and trying to get them to switch to your team at the detriment of the team they are on then I think you are going way too far................Just my opinion.

  14. Ok does Lloyd still have the no pass no play rule?????????? While that is admirable that is always a killer for small schools who do not have the numbers to take such hits.............. (As an fyi the KHSAA rule allows a student to be eligible if they are passing 4 out of 6 classess.......................) Now I am not saying it is wrong to have a no pass no play rule BUT then you must live with that choice.....that being the chance of more ineligible players.

Also Lloyd used to drug test athletes. Again a good idea?????absolutely.......but the flip side is some kids will not play due to this (very sad but true.........)
