  1. Hitting Celestials tonight. Have a Cincy Saver and heard they are closing the doors on July 15th!!

Said farewell to Celestials last night with my son and another couple. Did the mussels for an app and the filet for dinner. Went to have a nightcap and the bar did not have 4 seats together. Young jazz band playing.

  2. Highland Heights has just been too conservative. The only bar/sports bar in the city is Skyline, which is practically on NKU's campus. They would rather have people drive down the road to Wilder or Cold Spring. However, the new development in front of NKU off of 27 is said to have a micro brewery, I think.

So they cut the big tree down. What's the estimated time of completion for expansion of that area? 2040?

  3. From @jluckhaupt: Votto in his career in the 9th inning or later with a chance to tie or take the lead is hitting: .298/.460/.536

Since 1970, only Bonds (1.022), Chipper (1.004), Sheffield (1.002), and Helton (.998) have a higher OPS in those situations (min 300 such PA)

That's lower than his normal average isn't it?

  4. Dunkers was very poorly ran. Two guys went in together. The main owner that was around all the time had zero experience in the industry, and it showed. No one has bought/leased the space since.

Neither had experience and one passed away. Hard to believe a bar can't make it there. Reniero's was in that strip too.

  5. El Rio Bravo last night in Alexandria. Our go to spot. Shrimp Taco Salad and a couple of tall Bud Lights.

Haven't been in a while. I do like the place. I think they are mind readers. You order your food and it is there in about a minute!

  6. I have one or two of something (beer, wine, whiskey) pretty much every day.

Outside of going to the doctor for blood work or a physical, can't really think of a day that I haven't had one.

So you stop drinking the day before your physical? Wouldn’t it be better to have that drink so you get gauged by your normal status? I’ve heard of people doing crazy things prior to a doctors visit just to get a good report card. Other than fasting if I am doing blood work, I try to go in as worse case scenario.

  7. Those are most likely cicada killers. They will not bother you unless you provoke them. Typically Twin Oaks in Latonia on the par 5 on the front nine has a bunch of them around the green making burrows and flying around. Twin Oaks posts signs about them around the green so you don't totally freak out.

They didn’t seem to bother us other than the huge ant hills they left behind.

  8. "Handler" is an insulting term and in some situations, those people deserve the label.

I'm in no way talking about this particular situation. I don't know anything about Pearson or his recruitment. I wish him nothing but the best.

Definitely not a good term at all. Pretty insulting IMO.

I’m with you. I hope everything works out for the best. Great kid from a great family.

I don't think you know who his "handler" is. Kind of not a good term by the way. Hope everything works out for the best. Super talent and a good kid too!

Call the person what ever you want, it sounds like someone is having a lot of influence on him. Don't know him, the situation, the family but it just doesn't pass the sniff test to me.

Obviously I want the kid to do what is best for him. Looking forward to seeing him play at the next level.

  9. Played fox run last night. The green on hole 3was over run with some kind of pre historic hornets. Things were huge. They left monsterous mounds of dirt where they burrowed. It was like a putt putt course. Talked of calling it a 2 putt like a green under repair

  10. That’s how they scripted it. Take the strongest out first to build confidence amongst the others. The last batch will be the toughest but they have so much momentum now.

Not sure on the confidence thing. I'm pretty sure they would not advise the ones remaining if someone didn't make it. It would only create more panic which is one of the greatest concerns. I'm sure they won't hear about the Seal that passed until they are all safe.

  11. If this young man does go prep, I look for a lot of schools to watch him. Getting stronger and a tighter handle this young man will play higher than St. Louis. I wonder if he’s gonna play AAU for July.

He gets a full ride to a D1 school with other options but would decide to stay back another year? I guess he didn't think he was better than a mid major when he committed, but now he is? Sounds like his handler has been in his ear. Hope he doesn't screw this up.
