  1. How well would that group do against hoop dreams, Louisville Magic, and the other Adidas teams. Looks like good team height, but only one true big. I know in the EYBL you must have true bigs, but have not had the pleasure to watch many squads in the Adidas circuit. Big fan of Peyton Broughton however, he is probably 6'3. Either way this is a great squad with just about everyone on the team a Division 1 player or has the potential to go D1.
  2. I would like to see the shoe sponsored teams at the state AAU tournament as well
  3. What about the non shoe AAU teams rosters such as Charlotte Court, MATTS Mustangs, KY Hoopsters, Next Level, Shining Stars, Attucks Wolfpack, WKY Elite, KY Select, and Louisville Lightning? All teams have been strong in the past, I would like to see all of the best KY teams compete in the KY AAU State tournament this year to have a true KY champion. I'm sure some of the independent teams may surprize the shoe teams
  4. Wow so the Travelers are losing some young men? I've heard adidas will be in Dallas, Atlanta, Spartanburg, Chicago, and Las Vegas. Not sure where Nike will be as of yet.
  5. To be honest any high school coach that also coaches AAU has to be very passionate about the game and kids. After a grueling 30 + games with high school, then to pick back up and coach AAU shows the commitment that person has. I am ok with the rule that High school coaches can coach AAU, especially if it is separate from the school.
  6. Several high school coaches also have AAU programs. They only rules that I can think of is that the team cannot use the school's name and must be a completely seperate organization from the school. Also the coach cannot coach during the dead period. There have been alot of AAU coaches land head coaching high school jobs and assitant positions.
  7. you have Mccallie school from Chattanooga who will be tough, also other out of state teams will be tough. Madison Southern has a solid squad along with Corbin's Andrew Taylor.
  8. Berea holiday Classic committed teams- Ryle, Berea, Henry Clay, Madison Southern, Corbin, Pike Co Central, Grace Baptist (MS), Holy Spirit (GA), Harriman High School (TN), Frankfort, Seneca, Eminence, East Jessamine, Mccallie School (TN), Rockcastle, Bath County. Not sure how good the out of state teams are but looks to be a solid team list.
  9. I am not a fan of transfers, and AAU basketball in my opinion has had a huge influence over where kids are going. For example, I believe the oliver kid for Taylor county and Gaines both played for WKY Elite. Now on the other hand if I am a kid and I can jump and play with two players like Goodin and Sloan both Division 1 kids, that would attract me. Needless to say there are a lot of reasons for the Gaines kid to transfer, and if he physically moves for that reason I would be ok with that.
  10. I have not seen Jalen Sebree, however Jaiveon Eaves is a Division 1 player. He is strong, athletic, can shoot it, has great size and handles the basketball well at 6'2 or 6'3.
  11. Kentucky has some of the best NAIA teams in the country, and all have a good brand of basketball. Division 2- Kentucky Wesleyan and Bellarmine are top notch program and Kentucky state always has a competitive program. Division 3- Berea College is on the rise while Transylvania and Thomas Moore are strong programs. Lastly, lets not forget about NAIA Division 2 programs such as Asbury who has been strong. Great non Division 1 basketball.
  12. I agree with you don't have to have talent to spot talent, however you have to now the game. With that being said how can you effectively know the game if you have never played or coached. Again, anyone can say "he can shoot", "hes athletic", or "he works hard". Just my opinion, because every parent in the stand thinks he can coach or think he has knowledge. But I do agree you don't have to have talent to spot it.
  13. Rankings will always be disputed, these sites need the publicity to stay in business. Again, I challenge their qualifications on how to rate kids, unless they played or coached at a high school level at the least.
  14. If they are able to compete great for the program, if not it will be just another loss.
  15. Again, I think you need multiple contributors that have proven basketball knowledge that have seen these kids play more than once. Most of the scouting services may watch these kids 1 or more times then rank them accordingly. Not exactly sure who runs some of these scouting services, I would like to see some of their credentials when it comes to evaluating talent.
  16. The best way to rank players is to go region by region and let the high school coaches vote. That's about the best way you could do it, although that is flawed as well and subjective.
  17. I hear there is a Peach 24 Select going on the same time as Peach Jam, anyone hear anything on this event?
  18. Team vision went 3-2 in their first tournament together. Had some key wins, however eventually lost to a sharp shooting Grassroot Blue team
  19. I hear the front runner is ast and former Bryan Station coach Mike Allen
  20. Both programs are great, anytime you can play in a circuit is great for the kids, some AAU coaches lose sight of that or are in it for themselves, or they are each others number 1 competitor and are fighting for one anthers kids.
  21. any word on Tates Creek, Caverna, and Adair. All three solid jobs
