  1. On the way home from Russell Co and the scrimmage went ok. The 1st offensive series was outstanding out of 10 plays the raiders picked up 4 or 5 1st downs and moved the ball well. After that they went game situation and the offense was a little up and down but over all they did very well. I was impressed with how far the O line has come and think they will play well this season and if you remember that was one of my pre-season question marks. My other pre-season question mark was the defense and to be honest the defese struggled tonight and is still a question mark but I am confident that Coach Smith and his staff will iron out the kinks next week and will be ready for Taylor Co and they will keep improving as the year goes on. Russell Co is a very solid team and I would say they will have a good season. Good job tonight Raiders keep working hard and you guys will be ok!

  2. One win and you go to playoffs, then you had a succussful season. JMO

I dont think i quite agree with this statement. I do think it would be a big boost for the program to get back to the playoffs but in my opinion Wayne Co and Casey Co are the in the top 5 teams on the Raiders schedule so just beating one of them and then losing to 5 teams that (in my opinion) are not as good would be far from a successful season. I too think there are 8 winnable games on the Raiders schedule but that in no way means the same as the Raiders will win 8 games. I am very close to the program and I can tell you that they have worked very hard this offseason and had a very good spring as well as a successful month of passing scrimmages. I also know they are a very talented group of young men and with all of this I can say without a shadow of a doubt that they have 8 winnable games on the schedule. Now that may not be everyones opinion and that's ok you are allowed your opinion so I hope you respect my right to my opinion. OK Raiders it's time to pack your lunch and go to work, get the job done and show everyone in the state what your made of. As always I am 100% behind you!

  3. Getting the confidence up during 7-7 tournaments is a great start to the season for MC. I am very excited for the season and I am anticipating a very successfull season and the kids that play for MC are very deserving. I aggree with cellking that the 1st 3 games are very important to MC and the 1st one being Taylor then Pineville then Knott Co. These three are must wins if MC is going to make a run at the 3rd spot of the district (or higher). I personally think they have worked hard and has what it takes to win 8 games this year but I will say it definalely should be a 6 win season and a trip back to the playoffs!

  4. I am excited for the season to start. I truely believe that McCreary has an excellent opportunity to atleast match their best season ever. They are loaded with athletes and experience and as was said earlier they have a favorable schedule. I think the key for the Raiders will be offensive line play and how well the defense performs. The Raiders O-line will be relatively young as experience goes so it will be up to the coaching staff to coach them up and have them ready to perform. Defense has always been the weak-link in McCreary football and I am not sure why. Even the years I coached it seemed we had to just out score our opponents because we had a hard time stopping them. We have good athletes and they are aggressive but defense doesn't come natural to them and it seems everyone always just wanted to play offense. So, getting the Raiders to have a defensive frame of mind and pitch a few shut-outs will be another key to their success. So in review: O-line and defense is the two big keys and if the Raiders get both of those things lined out every one should watch out because the Raiders will be capable of winning many games. My prediction is 5-5 at worse and 8-2 at best with a good shot to return to the playoffs! Good Luck Raiders its time to pack your lunch and go to work!

  5. What does Taylor Co. have coming back? I think they open at McCreary Central, should be a good Game.

Taylor and McCreary do open with each other and I am ready for HS football to start. This should be a very good game and with no surprise I give McCreary the edge because they have a very good group of athletes coming back this year. It would help if someone from Taylor Co would give us some info on their program so we can get a better idea of how the two teams will match up!

Not Surprising yet you picked West by 11.

region12hoops that is too funny, I am glad you called him out on that, LoL, he is always trying to rile people! Most of the stuff he posts is to get a reaction from other people, he has gotten me more than once!

  7. Someone once told me that the past is done and gone, the present is what you have to deal with and the future is what you make it! Oh yeah and there is the other one, Champions are not born, they are created through hard work, sweat, determination and dediction. These are the things that has to be instilled in all areas of an athletic program if you are going to have winning teams year in and year out! IMHO!

  8. Records and stats don't lie......Football with Watts and Football without Watts=Day and Night.

At some point you have to realize just how much he meant to your programs, not in just on field stuff the other stuff to including but not limited to leadership and grit.

You aparently don't know much about MC athletics but I agree he was one of the most grittiest athlets I have known.

  9. This game seems to illustrate the "will" both clubs have.

Boyle jumps early. Bell not only "rights the ship" but takes the lead.

Rebels respond with a short field and immediatley regain the lead.

Both teams slug it out on defense like the middle rounds of Ali-Frazier, then in the 4th Boyle stretches the lead to 10.

Bobcats won't quit and claw back to cut it to 4 with 4 minutes and timeouts in the pocket.

Rebels respond by moving the ball until the clock runs out.

Sure there were mistakes by both teams but what more can you ask from a bunch of kids except to respond to adversity. :thumb:

I am 100% positive you are right on the money Hatz. I was just taking an opportunity to have some fun (that I knew would cause an uproar) that stems from the Bell/Knox thread! I really wasn't serious or meaning any disrespect, I was just having some good ole' BGP fun! I have a lot of respect for both programs, coaches and fans. Congrats to Bell on a great season and good luck to Boyle next week!

  10. They held Bell to under 85 yards rushing thats a statement and truly a achievement good luck in BG.

I wouldn't have guessed anyone could hold Bell to 85 yards rushing. Also, can't believe Bell had all of those turnovers they always seem to take care of the ball. Must have been a domminating performance by Boyle County. Congats to both teams on a great season!

  11. Well, this has been fun but I think it has run its course as I feel the thread is just starting to revolve like a door. I have to say this has been one of the more interesting threads I have posted on but not sure why. Maybe it is because I am not associated with either team or because a few other people that has posted isn't either but just found it intriging as I did. Anyway, I have people at both schools whom I have met and became friends with over the years. Coaches and fans at both schools have always been very hospitable to me over the past 20 odd years and I have a lot of respect for both programs. I wish both programs the best for years to come and Wish bell good luck for the remainder of this year! Maybe we will do this again next year since I will not be able to attend any more football games this year due to other commitments. Or, maybe I will just get on here after Friday's game and give my opinion on a game that I don't attend. LoL! Yes i had to get one more in before I signed off! LoL!

  12. I don't think HoP was or is trying to pick a fight. He is a passionate person and I think he felt the need to convey his thought on the game. He felt it was closer than the score indicated. I can appreciate his ability to stand up for what he believes.

Thanks TRENCHMASTER, I don't ever start fights, matter of fact I am as meek as the Easter Bunny. I am just on here argueing my point like all of the other fine BGPers. LoL!

  13. You can't help yourself :) IMO you don't have to be at a game to determine if one team was outplayed more than the other. You can look at the score, stats and speak with those who were and get a good feel for what happened. I have not seen one Oregon Duck game this year, but looking at the scores, stats and listining to people who have gives me a good indication they are a dominate football team this year. I have not seen a Boyle County game this year but they seem pretty dominate based on the above. I hope you do not feel I am telling anyone like it is (if your post was directed to someone like me - if not disregard). I don't think anyone has the right to do that when it comes to opinions. That's all BGP is are opinions. Not everyone is going to agree with yours nor will they agree with mine. I don't have to be right, could care less if anyone agrees with my worthless opionions. Who am I that anyone has to agree with me. I am just a HS football fan who played and who has many boys in his family who play. Nothing more nothing less.

Yeah I know the score almost always tells you which team outplayed the other but it doesn't always tell you how closely the game was played for that you must attend or watch on tv!

  14. So, if a fan goes to a game, watches said game, and shares the TRUTH about what he witnesses at the game. Is that the truth, or is it that fans perceived truth? Just curious as to who to believe in these forums.

You definately got a point. Human nature tells us that a fan who is supporting one of the teams playing is most likely going to see things leaning more towards the team they support. However, a fan of the game who just went to watch for the love of the game with absolutly no ties to either team is more likely to give an accurate discription of what took place. I was just stating the obvious, how many points scored do to turnovers? How many points scored in the 2 minutes when the game was out of reach? IMO the ball game was played competitive by both teams and that in itself means that neither team dominated the other. You are right, everyone has an opinion and I am not saying mine is right nor wrong I am only saying mine in an un-biased one since I am neither a fan of Bell or Knox!

  15. I am just a fan of the game. And yes Bell is my team but if a team plays Bell and totally dominates them, then i will say just that. Take Alcoa in 09, yes i'm sure people are tired of hearing that one, they dominated the 2nd half of that game like none other. And they were very impressive. imo, not many teams could hang with Alcoa of '09 or this years team.....just to many athletes that know there positions well. I will not down a team that goes out and gives it an effort to win, just tell it like i see it.

I know bellbobcats but you see most things thru Bell County tinted classes. LoL!

  16. Wow what some people will do to pick a fight. HOP what game where you at? All I am going to say is look at the stats. Bell held Knox to 72 yards rushing, Bell had twice as many first downs, dominated time of possesion and yes the score. Bell got a easy one on the last TD but so did Knox when Bell had their JV in, with out those 2 scores the score still would have been 35-7. DOMINATION!!! The reason the Bell faithful stress this point is, we have been told all year had they were kick or tails and they had the much better athletes. Soooooooooooo all I can say is Good Luck to ya!!!![/QUOTE]

Thanks, I need all the luck I can get!

  17. Just for adding to the conversation:

    Stats from the game:

Bell ran the ball for 210 yards and went 4-6 passing for 118 yards and 2 TD's. That's 328 yards of total offense.

Knox Central rushed for 78 yards and passed for 114 yards. That's a total of 192 yards of total offense.

Just the stats to mix with the "at game observations."

136 yards difference between the 2 teams. Sound win......yes. Domination.............No!

  18. Again, I can't believe I even care enough to post anything. I guess I just have a need for things to be told in a truthfull manner and not in a tunnel vision view of "that's my team". I have always tried to tell it how it is but that is hard for some people I guess but it is even worse when people don't even go to the game and try to tell us the way it is. This just makes me wonder how truthfull most of the posts on here are. I am not saying people don't post what they perceive to be true I just think their version of the truth is blurred by favorite teamism! But atleast they are at the game!

  19. I agree on paper it should be close, I just have a feeling Bell is a team of destiny and will win this more comfortably than everyone thinks.

Now I am going to split hairs. You can't feel the score of the game because the score of the game before it happens is abstract and in order to feel it it has to be concrete. You may think it or believe it but you can't feel it!....................................................I'm just saying!
