  1. You're right about the line. I believe the linebackers and secondary can be pretty solid. The problem with the line is they haven't been able to even slow anyone down or get any type of pressure. If they can improve on those two things a little bit, the defense should get a whole lot better.

And your line is young...they are mostly that group that would be sophomores that finished the eighth grade year with only one loss. Give 'em some time to season. Hopefully by districts they will be firing on all cylinders! Another good looking player was number 66. He has the build to be a beast, give him some experience to learn how to avoid getting washed on plays (I watched him several times) and I think he will be really good.:thumb:

  2. Good luck to your Lions GCHS...I'm not going to say who wins because every one I picked last week lost...and I don't wanna jinx em. I was at the game against East Jess. last week, I think that if you can get that defensive line to pick it up some, you have a pretty decent hitting secondary and might get things going as the season progresses. Number 1 for Garrard was a hard hitting fast moving player for your secondary and was very impressive last Friday.

  3. Wow papa, never known a Rockcastle team to play without heart or life, thats the foundation of Rockcastle football.

I dunno....the boys did put the whammy on the run and tightened up in the second quarter on Danville when they settled down. But, as heart goes, they were walking to the huddle and didn't seem to have any fire to them. Maybe we sold big to shut down the run, because the pass was there all night. You know....when I played football, we would take our lumps as well, but the worse the score...the madder I got and the nastier I got because I didn't like to get beat. I figured that if I was going to take a beating....the other team was going to know that they were in a fight the next morning. I wish that could be instilled on our boys.

  4. Congrats to the Ads....our boys have got a LONG way to go to get where they need to be. It was the passing game on defense and simple blocking on offense that killed them. No heart or life tonight...this includes my own. I sure hope the coaches can get them straightened out before district play. Our kids might not be the best athletes out there...but I think they have a lot of talent...if they decide they want to show it. Again...congrats to the Ads.

  5. I don't think you can ever count out the Rock and smaller doesn't mean weaker. One of the best teams in the country averages 185 lbs on the offensive line (or atleast at one time they did). So just because the Rocks line is smaller doesn't mean they can't be a better unit than last years line. I say the Rock edges this one out by 6 points. That one is for you papapgrit, good luck!

Thanks bud...good luck to you all over there! The boys are gonna have their hands full this week! Go ROCK!

  6. I hope the Madison Southern boys realize this is just one game. They held thier own for a quarter and a half. West Jessamine started blitzing and stunting someone on about every play and adjustments were not made. If your linemen cannot pick up the blitz, then some help needs to be established in the backfield with an extra blocker. The Roberts boy was running for his life the most of the game because of the blitz. A score in the final minute before halftime took the wind out of the boys sails making it 21-0 at half and MS never seemed to recover at all. I hope MS keeps thier heads up and don't start all the pessimistic stuff and implode. Hang in boys...it's just one game.

  7. How will this game go? I have been pleasantly suprised by the fact that more kids came out for the team than originally thought. They played competitively with Pike County Central in a scrimmage last week and my own son says that they have a fairly large line...larger than last year. With the loss of Rico Brown, can the boys in orange and blue get together as a team and raise a few eyebrows this year? :thumb: I'm rooting for Southern and plan to be there for the game.

  8. I said Abner STARTED at TE for PC in the scrimmage. Which he did. PC moved several kids around during the scrimmage. Eastham looked rusty on the first couple of drives, but got better as the scrimmage went on. Overall the Maroons didn't look the best against Marion. They had trouble moving the ball on Marion's D and looked way out of sync. Marion had a lot of kids out and had good speed. Anthony Epps has them excited over there this year.

I'd say you all will be fine and Eastham will shake the rust off soon enough...he is a cool headed QB who has a lot of potential. Give him time. As far as Marion goes, they were pretty tough over there last year and as I remember, they gave Bell County (a 4A contender last year) a run for their money early in the season. With the screaming speed Pulaski has, I don't think you have a whole lot of worries. If there is anything to Pulaski's line, you should be fine.

  9. Wins against N. Laurel, New Cath, and Collins. Possible wins against Clark and Tates Creek.

You know...I'll root for Central in many circumstances, it being the closest 6A school to where we reside. But, I wouldn't count those chickens before they hatch on some teams like N. Laurel. The younger Larkey has kind of put that team into another gear and I've seen their linemen at camp and their skilled positions play in 7 on 7. They're no stinkeroo! They look pretty good and they are just one class down at 5A, so Central won't overwhelm them with substitutions. Central had better strap their helmets on or they might get them knocked off by a blue and green blur.
