  1. You all had better get there really early. My wife and I usually get to Rockcastle for our games at about 5-5:30 to hold our same spot on a hill we like(We can park there behind where we sit if it rains or is really cold for spells). You may want to do this as there really is limited seating for a big game like this and the large crowd attnding. My sons and I attended the Clay vs. Garrard game which was Garrard's first this year and it was packed except for a few seats near the band. We watched most of the four overtime game from behind the south endzone. There was what I would call "comfortable" seating for the Clay County people with open areas to stretch out in, but, not a whole lot more. They could open the soccer field up for fans above the field, and shoot the fireworks from the baseball field or the far end of the soccer field....just a thought. I may attend this game myself as I live very close to it.

  2. I don't know one thing about the entire political/football situation down there. All I know is what I viewed as an outsider looking in and getting to know a few guys down there. Coach Gay no longer coaches football down there and now it's some other guy that has brought in a completely different group of coaches. Gay did pretty well, with Watts and Roark's aid in his last years before retirement. The current staff is not having a lot of success so far and blames Gay for leaving the program a mess from what I gather on here. Gay thinks the current coaching staff and the school administration is a bunch of idiots who wouldn't support him when he coached. One guy, ex-coach Payne, is stuck in the middle of all the backbiting and is super supportive of the kids and the program. Do all of you guys realize who is getting hurt more than any of your feeling during this squabbling? It's the kids who play football and they need all of your support including the staff, the administration and the coaches. All of you guys need to get your youth program going, support from the community and work on getting the school board on board to get the program going in the right direction and quit pointing fingers. That is the only way you will get that program back off the ground. That is just an opinion of an outsider looking in. Like I said earlier in this post, I don't have any idea of what is really going on inside, but you fellas need to put some time in with the youth and build the program up. Get your high schoolers to visit the elementary and middle school guys and mentor a little. Those little kids are really influenced by a big ole football player visiting in his game jersey and showing interest in them. I've seen it several times this year alone. Try....at least try to be positive about the program. Losing is no fun and everyone becomes a coach down to the parents when a team loses. But a positive attitude goes a long way.

  3. Clark did hurt his shoulder against Pulaski on his last touchdown on what seemed like a minor hit. He has been week to week since then. Rockcastle won against undefeated Perry County Central and undefeated Russell County without him in the backfield. I wish he could be available...especially for tonight against Knox Central. I wish him the best...he's a great kid and back.

  4. I learned to never predict scores or pick on polls online. I'm superstitous and every time I pick a team they seem to get thier butt handed to them. The two teams are dead even matched with the possible edge going to KC in my opinion with the big linemen and the Canady kid and the game being down there. It will be a definite dogfight on Friday night.....I hope Rockcastle is ready and holds on to the ball better than in the last game they played.

  5. When I played in 1983, one guy from another team had cheapshotted one of our players after the whistle blew if I remember right. Now this ol' boy wasn't much of one for that kind of stuff and he tended to follow the Old Testament part of the Bible that says "eye for an eye" and not the "turn the other cheek" saying in the New Testament. He was rougher than a night in jail and when it came time to shake hands after the game (we lost to boot), he shook hands and looked at each players number until he found the right one...reached out to shake with his left and gave a right hook with the other. All heck broke loose and we had a scrum between both entire teams on the fifty yard line with even the coaches having a shoving match because the opposing coach pulled one of our guys hair to get him out of the pile. Now you all can say what you want about sportsmanship, but, when you are fully padded, with helmets on (only one dimwit from our team tried to leave his off and use it for a weapon which got him thirteen stitches on top of the head...the big dummy) a fight really can be sorta fun....at least back then I thought it was. My point is, I think maybe it might be a good idea to get the kids off the field as soon as possible like one person said on this thread. You never know what might break out from ill feelings.

  6. I have and also had all the respect in the world for Russell County. Heck of a team and YES....they did force those fumbles to get into those situations to score. That is what I meant by the post about the turnovers. The Rock boys have to learn to protect that ball when getting gang tackled. A hard lesson learned and lucky thing that they won. The seniors especially on defense dug in hard at the end. I'm proud of them and I hope that Russell goes deep into the playoffs as well.

  7. I'm whipped after this game. I had heard there was seven turnovers myself. Any way about it, Russell was about +5 in the turnover department, but, Rockcastle's defense held for most of the night. One score by Russell was a scoop and score on a fumble, one was a very short field on a fumble and one was like a 75 yard swing pass with some blocking out front. The final score was in overtime on a reverse.

  8. A great win for Coach Mark Scenter and his boys. Better get Hayes all psyched up for Bourbon because Johnny Poynter's running back is a whole different dimension of a player than what they have seen so far. Good Luck to the Lions next week as well.

As far as the lights going out, I was at the Rockcastle/Russell game and the lights flickered in Mt. Vernon at halftime there as well but held on.

  9. Disagree.

Johnson Central gets beaten by Perry Central pretty handily and Rockcastle County shuts out that same Perry Central team. Without a doubt in my mind Rockcastle should be and deserves to be ranked higher than Johnson Central.

Poor Russell County probably deserves to be ranked but will have to beat Rockcastle County this Friday to earn a spot in the poll.

Russell County is a bear in sheeps clothing. Rockcastle will have their hands full with yet another undefeated, unfamiliar foe this Friday. Russell Co. gave Allen County Scottsville all they wanted last fall during the playoffs and I knew they were going to be a tough group to deal with. The Britt kid has more moves than Ex-Lax and they have a few capable receivers to make a rush-stopping defense honest.

  10. I agree with GCHS. Rockcastle has been getting a lot of love across the board from the other polls. (#5 AP 4A) The teams they have beaten have not necessarily been bad teams, but, the Perry game will tell a lot. They are 5-0 and at least their fans are very high on them with the great LB in Robinson. The Lakers of Russell County the following week will also be a good measuring stick with Britt carrying the ball. Both of these teams are undefeated after facing pretty good competition. Let Rock slide under the radar, I have no problem with that at all.

  11. This game depends on how much Rock wants it and how well they defend against the pass. If the defense pressures the PC QB and the secondary steps up and plays ball then Rock should be OK. If Rock comes out dead and plays lethargic defense then it will be up to PC to take it. I don't see Rock coming out dead though after getting beat at home two years ago in the last six minutes and getting thumped last year. I hope the Rock players remember getting their butts handed to them last year in Somerset and use that as motivation.
