Big win for Boone at Campbell. Congrats to the Rebels.
-
Ryle's defense will not be able to stop the Breds. Ill take NCC by a least 17.
After having seen Ryle vs. Highlands, I cannot agree with that statement. If NCC wins by at least 17, I'll be shocked. I expect a close, hard-fought game.
-
As expected, a close game that could go either way. Congrats to Conner. Can't wait to hear about the finish.
-
Winner gets an early edge in the 6A race. I expect a close, hard-hitting contest decided by turnovers. Good luck to both teams.

I'm surprised so many people are taking SK in a big margin on Conner's home field. Look for a close game that could go either way. 6A will be a dog fight. Conner is one of the dogs in the fight. Must win for SK if they plan to win the district.

You can have your pass interference, but please return my Adam's apple.

Great Saturday night contest that should find a lot of interested onlookers making their way down by the river. SK is supposed to be the class of NKY 6A this year. If that is true, it should be a laugher for NC. We'll find out a lot in Newport on Saturday night. I expect a close game.

I see a close game with two pretty even teams. Raiders are better on D, Breds are better on O. Turnovers will probably determine the outcome. Should be a great Saturday night crowd in Newport, even if rains set in from Ike.

Sounds like a great game. I would guess that CovCath's preseason #2 in NKY was validated. NCC was being hailed as the solid #2 behind Highlands prior to the loss. NC is a very good team. Now, I would think that we are looking at 1)Highlands 2)CovCath 3)New Cath and then a lot of teams very close. The fact is that we have a lot of work in KY to catch up with the Ohio teams. CovCath was destroyed by a 4A Ohio school and they are one of KY's top five 5A teams. Pat VS is perhaps the best all-around player in NKY this year. He is college material.

The field was not ready, the construction company really dropped the ball on this project. They had PLENTY of time to finish this project and just didn't do it.
The "pipe" in question was a sprinkler head sticking up too high and was quickly fixed. The refs did not hold the game up, Ryle H.C. held the game up, refusing to take the field. Ryle however does deserve a BIG round of applause for not running the score up. This is what good sportsmanship is all about, they had the game well in hand and did not go in for the "over" KILL as Conner did the week before.
I highly doubt the accuracy of your statement that the Ryle HC held the game up. I know that the refs check out safety issues before a game. My guess is that the refs made the decision. It is possible that the Ryle coach showed the refs some safety problem(s), but I see no way a coach could hold up the start of a game. Perhaps an official could comment on this situation.

That was the most disciplined and passionate team Holmes has fielded in a while.
This speaks volumes about the coaching staff. Good job by Holmes and Coach Lickert.

Funny you should ask. It was a bit disappointing last night. The game was delayed approximately 45 minutes because the refs did not approve of the condition of the field. Apparently, they found several areas where metal pipes were sticking above the level of the playing surface. There was also quite a bit of standing water near the sidelines. Granted, it was their first game there, so some minor problems were to be expected, but I would have expected the problems to be with issues such as parking, gate, concessions, etc., not the condition of the field. I know they had to put in a huge effort within the past week just to get the stadium ready to open and perhaps it would have been easier to wait another week to ensure there were no major problems. Ryle AD offered numerous times within the past week to allow the game to be moved to Ryle but for Cooper to keep the gate proceeds.
All that being said, however, the Cooper stadium/field will eventually be a nice place. It is very similar to Ryle's complex, without the field turf.
Thanks for the update. I guess the field, like the team, will suffer some growing pains. I could see them getting competitive in their 3rd or 4th season. Just don't see it in their first two years.
-
I would not base a prediction on today's sorry performance. USC will win but it will be a close game. I'd guess a 7-point spread.
-
How is the stadium and field at Cooper? I would think they have pretty good facilities.
-
No way would Highlands or any other championship team EVER talk about a moral victory.
-
Congrats to Cooper on scoring their first points. I'm glad to see that Ryle did not run up the score. Good luck to all of the young men at Cooper.

Good job by Coach Lickert and players. Nice to see.

Boone was the best in 6A NKY last year, Ryle was in 2006. One of those two teams will win it this year. Conner will have a say in the matter but I do not see them going to Boone and winning next week.
