Congrats to Dixie. St. Henry will challenge Highlands, Beechwood, or Ryle in round 1 with their ace.

Congrats to the Tigers. They seem to be in the hunt for the region title each year. I don't see anyone other than Ryle, CovCath, or Beechwood winning the 9th region tourney. The draw will be important and interesting. We could see two KY Top 25s face off in round one.

Ryle needs to find another RB so Savage can play linebacker. He played both ways most of the season.
That would be nice, but I'm sure Savage will continue to get reps on offense. He's fun to watch.

Has Cooper ever beat Ryle? I know Cooper has never beat SK.
Cooper is 3-14 vs. Ryle winning in 2012, 2014, and 2015. The only year they played twice was in 2016, with Ryle winning 49-42 and 49-20.

If Ryle beats Cooper this year then send over the crow and I will sharpen my knife and fork. It’s not gonna happen.
We heard the same thing last year about the streak will end. How did that turn out (28-10 Ryle)? I believe it will be a tight battle between two good, evenly matched rivals. The game could go either way. Cooper is due, having lost 9 in a row to Ryle including 2 losses in 2016.

I noticed the nice game recap in the NKY Tribune. Congrats to the Raiders on the walk-off win yesterday. Number 9 hitter Tate Cordrey launched a 2-run bomb with two outs in the bottom of the 7th. Two evenly matched teams with excellent regular seasons.

Kudos to Cooper on another great season and phenomenal 3-year run of dominating the 9th region. Great effort vs. SHA again. Well done, Lady Jags. NKY is proud of you!

Congrats to Dan! I believe that everyone on BGP will pull for him to enjoy success, just like we did for Bryson. It’s great that he teaches at the school, which is essential for relational bonding.

They definitely were letting both teams play. Which in my opinion was not a bad thing, and I rather the refs let them play and not call everything in games like this. The better team won.
Thanks FC. Classy post as usual.

I hated to see that Tay went down at the beginning of the game, and Newport dug deep to win without a star player. Kudos to the Wildcats. Thanks to 859 Sports radio. I enjoyed listening. From a listener’s perspective, it sounded like the refs had no control over the game.

What a great game by 2 outstanding teams. That was fun to watch (except for LexCath fans). State finals caliber game for sure. Congrats to Great Crossing on the comeback win.

SK is a great “second half” story this season. I’m pulling for the Neers to win their third straight regional game and cut down a net or two. Good luck, SK!

Great job by Cooper to dominate this game.

Over 40% of BGPers have voted for CovCath. Cooper beat them earlier this year in Park Hills, so a slight majority of people believing the Jags will win should not be a shocker. No one, especially the Jags, is underestimating CovCath.

Cooper is playing the best of any team in the 9th right now. They will always play solid defense. Only an off-shooting night keeps the Jags from Rupp. If they get beat, it will be a last-possession ending. Good luck to the Jags!

Thanks VOR. I was going by radio play-by-play commentary and not in attendance. A comment was made that the strategy worked.

Ryle executed the game plan well but just not quite enough to pull the upset. It was an interesting decision by Coach Snapp to foul Evan up by two with less than 20 seconds left since he have struggled from the line. Turned out to be a good decision rather than potentially losing by 1 on a 3-pointer. I don’t remember seeing that strategy employed before in a 2-point game. Congrats to Newport for surviving and I was proud of the Raiders’ grit and effort.

Cooper won by that score. Fun game to watch. Both teams played with good intensity. Congrats to the Jags.

Excellent job Raiders. Coach Dorning has them playing with good intensity. It’s great to see an 8-game win streak after so many difficult seasons!

Coach Warner had a positive impact on many young men at Boone. Kudos for a job well done!

Nice win by Ryle. Sully is such an excellent coach, and Cooper has dominated Ryle in basketball. Coach Dorning has the Raiders playing with good intensity.

Congrats to Cooper. I will gladly take a medium serving of crow with crème brûlée and cake. I preferred our Boone Co. friends to win but voted for the Birds thinking they would win by something like 31-14. The Jags run D fared much better in the rematch. Great win! Nice season by Highlands and good luck to the Jags as they go Krogering.

That first cold game of the year lends itself to drops and less accurate throws. I do not expect a nail biter with the Birds controlling LOS. Good luck to both teams.

Thanks for the update. Beechwood's baseball program is excellent. This is a nice upset win for the Cougars. Congrats to Conner. You never know in baseball when best pitchers are matched in a given game.
