Elizabethtown comes in at 8-2. Even more impressive when you see that their 2 losses were to 6A ranked teams. The will be hosting Thomas Nelson this week. Thomas Nelson is one of a handful of teams that are in the playoffs with either 0 or 1 win for the season as they are 1-9. These two teams played Sept 27 at Thomas Nelson with Elizabethtown winning 54-0

This year, round 1 of the playoffs gives us something we have not seen for a while. We have a first round game that could just as easy be a semi-final game. Two of the top teams in 3A are battling early. These teams battled in an instant classic on Sept 27 at CAL with Mercer getting the win 45-42. There is little doubt that this game will be every bit of that intense. If you don't know where to go to watch a game, this is the one to pick.

The season started with many talking about the very difficult schedule the tomcats had. Fast forward to today and the tomcats are sitting at 8-2. This week they open the play-offs with Greenup County. These teams played 2 weeks ago with a 38-7 win for the tomcats. The health of the Musketeers could also be an issue as they had several sitting last week with injuries.

Belfry will look to get the machine that is Belfry Football fired up as the real season gets going. Belfry will be hosting 3-7 Floyd Central. These teams last played on Ovt 4 at Floyd Central with Belfry winning 41-6

Desales 7-3 kicks off their 3A playoff run by hosting Western Hills 3-7. These teams played on Oct 18, also at Desales, with Desales winning 48-13

Bell County looks to continue their perfect season. They come in at 10-0 against 4-6 Garrard County. These teams played Oct 11 at Bell County. The final of that game was 39-0.

Bardstown comes into this week after a tough overtime loss to E-town. Anderson comes in at 4-5. Anderson's last two weeks have been tough to say the least with Lex Cath and Boyle County. Both teams look to right the ship heading into playoffs

In a battle of 5-4 teams, Christian Academy of Louisville hosts Bullitt Central. A common opponent is South Oldham. CAL beat South Oldham 6-0. South Oldham got the best of Bullitt Central 52-0.

Mercer County coming off of a hard fought loss to #1 Desales this week travels to 5A West Jessamine County. West Jessamine comes in at 0-9. Mercer will most likely be looking to heal a little bit before the playoffs start in this highly competitive district.

Harlan County at 7-2 will be traveling to 9-0 Bell County this week. The two teams have one common opponent in Know County. Both reams beat Know, Harlan 28-21 and Bell 22-8. COuld be a good game, giving Bell a test going into playoffs.

Ashland comes into this game on a role and looks to get it going. Spring Valley is ranked #4 in the WV large division and is coming fresh off of a bye week. This will certainly be a challenging game for the tomcats. Also a question worth asking is does Ashland allow the bumps to heal on anyone this week heading into the playoffs?

Meade County got back in the win column last week breaking a losing streak. This week, the challenge is to a whole different level. Desales at 7-2 got through district play unscathed.

6-2 Paducah Tilghman travels to 3-5 Webster County this week. Two common opponents Trigg County, and Union County were both losses for Webster County and wins for Paducah Tilghman.

Christian Academy of Louisville comes into this weeks game following a bye week after a double overtime loss to #1 Desales. CAL has lost 4 of their last 5 against some strong opponents. Western Hills comes in at 3-5 are coming off of a loss to Desales as well. However their loss was a 35 point loss.

Bell County's route to a perfect regular season stops at Estill County this week. Estill County comes in at 5-3. They would love to be the spoiler and break the streak.

#2 Belfry looks to continue their district dominance this week over Pike County Central. Pike Central would love to shock the world, but is the mountain to steep?

Ashland comes into their final district game hot off of their win at Russell. Greenup is on the other side of the emotional spectrum following their one point loss to East Carter. Greenup looks to rebound and get their passing attack going.

This district showdown will certainly be filled with fireworks. #6 Elizabethtown at 6-2 hosts #9 Bardstown at 7-1. Both teams are very good and will look to get the advantage on the other come playoff time. Who wins?

The 3A game of the week for week 9 is in Mercer County. 7-1 Mercer will do battle with 6-2 Desales. This has the makings of a classic. The winner will get to enjoy a few extra weeks of their own locker room come playoffs. Who wins?

Every time I consider blasting a coach, I ask myself one question first. How many career wins does he have and how many do I have? That tells ME right there that I shouldn't be telling him how to coach. Just sharing MY approach. Not saying to ANYONE it should be yours.

5-3 Paducah Tilghman, fresh off of their bye week will host 4-3 Union County. Tilghman looks to get their traction back in time to make a deep run into the playoffs.

6-1 Bardstown hosts 0-7 Thomas Nelson. Over the past couple of weeks, Thomas Nelson has had troubles scoring and also stopping scores. This has the makings of something ugly. Can Thomas Nelson pull off the upset?

Larue County at 4-3 travels to 502 Elizabethtown this week. Etown looks to keep playing well while Larue looks to give notice that they belong in conversation of the top 3A teams. Who wins?

Mercer County travels to Henry County this week. Mercer County is a blemish to 4A #1 away from a perfect record this season. Henry County is on the other end of the spectrum and only have one game in the win column. Who wins?

This week the Fighting Dudleys head to Jackson County. Bell County has been steam rolling all comers and look to keep that going. Jackson County looks to make their season by pulling of the upset. Who wins?
