Christian County will surprise those that haven't watched them play this year.
-
Congrats Christian County!!!
Now, I will be making two trips to BG this weekend. 1A & 2A Friday and 5A Saturday
-
Congrats Mayfield!
I will be there Friday morning; cheering the Cardinals on to a state title!!
-
Owensboro Catholic quarterback Isaac Hardesty threw for 234 yards and four touchdowns. Masden Riney and Brelin Dixon each had two touchdown receptions, and Russell Hayden ran for 187 yards.
Mr. Hayden is the x-factor that goes unmentioned in most O-Cath discussions. I remember reading some posts that O-Cath would have zero success running the ball in this game. I attempted to tell everybody that O-Cath was the real deal this season.

Congrats to Coach Edge and O-Cath! I think the Aces scoring 61 at Danville says it all, not much more to talk about. Too many offensive weapons and too many offensive alignments for most 2A teams to account for. After this score, I further tip my hat to the effort by the Murray Tigers last week at Owensboro and taking the Aces to the final 4 seconds.
Going with the Aces to beat the 'Breds to make it 4 state titles in a row for the Owensboro Catholic / Fort Campbell District!!!

I think a big part of the equation is the candidate/winner commits to a KY school and not an out of state school. I would be interested to know the last 10 Mr Football and what college they picked.
Because imo THE BEST did not win Mr Football last yr. JMO. Go Birds 20n10
Glad that is just your opinion and you really didn't have a vote.

I think he originally committed to the Air Force Academy but has since changed his mind and is enrolled at WKU.
Antonio is playing RB at WKU behind senior Bobby Rainey.

Big turnaround season for both these teams compared to last year. Both teams had an uncharacteristic losing season in 2009 and now one of these teams will be playing in the 2A title game.
I know little about Danville, but am very familiar with O-Cath. O-Cath is playing superior football this season, almost in a league of their own out here in the west. They are well coached and have a mind-numbing amount of offensive alignments. O-Cath will not beat themselves with turnovers or penalties. Danville will have to flat out win this game and not wait for O-Cath to make a mistake. Wish I could make it to this game, but will settle for watching the winner in Bowling Green the following week.
O-Cath 30
Danville 21

And Maybe Not.
Maybe not would be fine!

Very close FalconBacker. Very close.
Congratulations to the OC Aces!
Later.
Bill, that is a hard thing to say.... but, Congratulations Coach Edge and the Aces of O-Cath. We may very well have an all-Catholic state championship in 2A.
-
Congratulations Colonels!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
It would be alright to win the next game with a little less drama following this win and the win against Bowling Green.
-
This should be an excellent game. OC's Coach Edge will be ready for this game and his offense will be more than challenging for Murray to stop. Having watched both teams play against FC, I give the advantage to OC. They played us with virtually flawless football with the exception of I believe one 5 yd penalty on offense.
Murray is a very good running team and solid on defense and special teams. At some point, they will be challenged to throw the ball to match points with OC. In these current times, it will be hard to win a state title with a one dimension offense.
I give the advantage to Coach Edge and his Aces in this matchup. Should Murray pull this one off, it will be fine with me as I have no affection for Owensboro Catholic.
OC 28
Murray 21
I was close in my prediction.

Thanks, going to take a big run back by Deese

OBoro Cath hasn't seen a defense as good as Murrays and that includes Owensboro and the Tigers backs are big and run hard behind a big, talented and experienced offensive line... Murray may have been the 2nd best 2a team in the state last year with nearly everyone back along with some very tallented and skilled younger kids... I don't think there's any question that Murray is improved, by sheer experience and maturity, if for no other reason...I don't think Ocath would have come within 4 scores of the Tigers last year and as improved as they are, I just don't see them being that much improved to knock off an even tougher Tiger team... Murray by a couple of scores, imo, and could be worse, but, it is at the Boro, so, we'll leave it at that...
Murray was without a doubt the 2nd best team in 2A last season. The Regional Championship between Murray and FC was also the State Championship!
-
No idea how this game will go, but I am cheering for the MC Falcons!!
-
Know that Murray had a real strong team last year with all they have coming back could be the year they get Fort Campbell.
Congrats to Murray!
-
FC Fan. It was one FC Fan. I think I'm the only one that said it.....don't generalize and say it's the whole fanbase.
Murray does play a weak schedule, but that didn't change anything that happened on that football field last night.
The secondary last night, wasn't very good. Fort Campbell couldn't capitalize on it though due to the pressure your big D Line put on us. I think that OC can, and I think they will. If I'm wrong, I'll be the first to admit it.
Later.
I agree with you Bill. Hats off to Murray on getting through FC this season, guess the third try was the charm.
Highlands/Christian County 5A State Final (Who wins and why?)
in KY Football (High School)

Really, I don't think Highlands is going to surprise anybody. Most people that know high school football from coast to coast know all about the Highlands football program.
