  1. Aaron Hills scored a TD receiving in the scrimmage. Coach Berner has Hills playing in several different positions in the offense. He is still the best athelete on the field with Marcus Tucker a close second. Having Marcus Pratt as a dominate RB really helps open the passing game for our freshman QB. Hills also anchors the defensive backfield at free safety.

  2. Trinity should be fine in this game.

I watched FC play Brentwood Academy in the 7 on 7 Music City Classic at Vanderbilt last month. Little FC with a freshman QB stood flat-footed and tore-up the Brentwood Academy defense. I don't know if it was becasuse it was the first game of the morning or if Brentwood Academy didn't take FC seriously, but FC had no problem with Brentwood Academy in the 7 on 7 format, FC won by at least two scores.

I know 7 on 7 is not real football, but if Trinity can go vertical with the passing game - Brentwood Academy will have no answer.

  3. We are very pleased to have Marcus Pratt on our team this season. Our freshman QB Jaylen Williams did a pretty good job against live competition. He perfomed well in 7 on 7 formats this summer to include the Vanderbilt 7 on 7 Classic. We were happy to seem him stand up to actual presssure and make some pretty good plays. One fumbled exchange between him and a RB was the only obvious mistake.

Coach McKillip had the defense clicking, would have been a shut-out for the night had it not been for the prementioned fumble that set up Kenwood's only scoring drive.

  4. I feel that 3a just got a lot tougher with Corbin, Ft Campbell, Monroe moving up from 2a and a couple teams moving down from 4a. Is this the new 2a level of competition...:jump:

I think you are exactly right! 3A just became legit - for the last several years the 2A Champ could easily have been the 3A champ. Corbin, Monroe, Bell and FC really bring the level of competition up in 3A.

  5. Madisonville-North Hopkins dominated their two scrimmages:

    Madisonville 35

    Apollo 0

    Madisonville 21

    Clarksville, TN (West Creek) 0

Coach Weaver has a very good team this year! He has some long and lean skill players that will cause future opponents fits.

Fort Campbell looked a little more like the FC we expect:

    FC 19

    Clarksville, TN (Kenwood) 6

    FC 21

    Apollo 0

FC introduced transfer player, Marcus Pratt, last night. A big back that runs like he is angry. Good play from our freshman QB & the D was pretty solid. FC must work on the kicking game, I think we missed 5 of 6 extra points which is unacceptable.

Christian County travels to Austin Peay University tonight for their two scrimmages in the Border Wars. They should be able to continue the theme of representing KY well against TN schools.

  6. Kenwood and West Creek from the TN side of the border....that much I know, I wish I could remember the KY team that's comin' over, but I can't. :idunno:

    Later.

Fellas, FC will start the night with Kenwood & end the evening in a scrimmage with Apollo from Owensboro.

Start time has been moved back to 7:00 to accomodate any heat issues.

  7. Spring practice just wrapped up this week & my humble observations found that this team is already having fun and showing a lot of promise. Some of the upcoming seniors are showing leadership and the team appears to be buying into Coach Berner's way of doing business.

The seniors on the 2010 additon of Falcon football provided zero leadership for a variety of reasons/excuses, graduation will take care of that.

Some players that had significant roles on the team last season have decided that they no longer desire to be Falcon players, that is probably a positive also. (lack of committment & dedication to the team)

After the chaf is separated from the quality grain, FC will be back and ready to return to its winning ways.

  8. Congratulations to the Christian County Colonels!!!!

What a fantastic group of athletes; many playing in the 5A football title game and now winning the state basketball championship in just a three month time span!!

This Fort Campbell fan is very proud of our neighbors in Christian County and their accomplishments.

A special congrats to Anthony Hickey & Bubba Tandy, two of the top football/basketball players in the state - we are very proud of you here in Western Kentucky.

  9. "The only thing I will say about O-Cath is they had the largest contingent of fans that I have personally witnessed at a 2A game. "

What surprises me was the fact you had no following from the NCC crowd , you guys had less people there than Danville had last week....

Hey brother, the NCC crowd ain't mine!! I am a Fort Campbell FalconBacker & was just at this game as a fan of 2A football. I was complimenting the fan support that the Aces brought with them.

  10. Just returned home from the game and admit that I under estimated NCC and way over estimated O-Cath!!

Congrats to the 'Breds - the 2A Champs and undisputed best team in 2A for the year 2010.

I really thought this would be a shoot-out with neither team able to stop the other, that was not the case.

The only thing I will say about O-Cath is they had the largest contingent of fans that I have personally witnessed at a 2A game.

  11. Nah, Ft. Campbell won in 2007 b/c they took advantage of NewCath meltdowns on the goalline. That is earning it, b/c championship teams make plays. In 2008, they won the game 2xs. The first time was called back for illegal procedure and the second was when Andrews remembered that he was Mike Vick-lite and made an unbelievable individual play on the throw back. Both times they earned it and took it from NewCath. Both games NewCath hurt themselves w/ penalties. You can't do that and expect to win. Ft. Campbell, to their credit, made the plays to win.

I may have to print this post and show it to Antonio! What an honest reaccounting of the 2007 & 2008 title games. You have my respect Sir.

  12. This is not relevant to anything. Ft. Campbell lost one of the most dynamic classes to go through KY in a long time.

As for the recent history, the last time NewCath was there, it took a trick play in the last minute of the game for a very, very good Ft. Campbell team to beat them. This years team is better than that team. Another thing overlooked is that this is the 2nd state championship for 7 of the seniors. They either played significantly against Ft. Campbell or were on every special team. This team has been there before. In a game like this, that makes a big difference in the crucial first quarter.

OCath obviously has a good offense and speed. However, you treat it like NewCath hasn't played teams faster than themselves this year. Hell, the first QB they faced this year has scholarship offers to the bulk of the SEC schools, w/ a burner that ran jet sweeps and bubble screens. CovCath, for all of its deficiencies on D, had 2 very fast players that they put out into space. They also had one of the best receivers in the state. I know that OC has a lot of weapons, and are going to be the best offense that NewCath has faced up to this point. The numbers bare that out, but they are not going to be so far above and beyond what NewCath has faced this year. Also, keep thinking that NewCath is a slow plodding team. Hitchew will surprise you.

I said, "O-Cath by a TD". That is giving NCC a pretty decent amount of respect.

  13. At Fort Campbell they are taught to read defenses, but teach all you want - a lot depends on the QB's aptitude. We have had a couple of QBs that, in additon to being All-State QBs, were also National Honor Society students, (CJ Croft & Antonio Andrews). We have had others that rely strictly on their athletic abilities - they are not or were not All-State QBs and did not win a championship.

  14. I've watched some film on NCC, they are big but Murray was bigger overall. AS far as speed I didn't see that much. Apparently you haven't seen Owensboro play, if you think NCC will win by 2 td's, Aces have more offensive weapons than" Carter has pills" . Owensboro did give up a lot of points to Danville however they did turn the ball over three times in their own territory and still hung 61 pts on them.

NCC might win but the Aces will score and score often , so my thinking it will be a high scoring affair but NCC won't keep up and Aces take home the hardware....

There will be some surprises when O-Cath shows up at WKU, make no mistake about it! I was personally shocked at how good O-Cath was in hammering FC 34-0 this season. That is after getting spanked by FC 53-0 last season - an 87 point difference. O-Cath will score at will, no doubt about it. Can they stop NCC, may be the question.

NCC has a little bit of recent history of rolling into the 2A title game with a lot of NKY hype, only to return home with the thanks for coming trophy.

    O-Cath by a TD
