Keep in mind that while Owen is bringing back good players, other schools in their district and region are returning good players as well. The 8th has several teams that have a lot of Seniors.

Hinkle was good last year and has a shot of being the best player for HC this year. But, he was the best player for a bad team. a team that lost to Grant Twice and Williamstown. Losses to Carrol, Spencer, and Trimble. The best player for a weak team does not create success.

No shot. They will probably go to the regional tournament, but they will be the worst team there. They are good for an 'A' team. They are well coached and are disciplined. They have no chance to go to Rupp Arena.

Simon Kenton has a great facility and strong community support. The coach would probably only have one prep all day. A true lack of a football program puts basketball in the limelight. A weak district compared to other 8th region districts almost guarantees a regional appearance. SK has only lost one district game in their time in the 8th Region.

The X factor for Grant's district is confidence. Grant has a talented senior class but those seniors have never had an outstanding season. SK on the other hand has less talent this year then the previour years, but they expect to win. Walton has a confidence about them as well. Grant needs to start the season on a positive note in order to be succesful. It will be difficult for Grant to be successful if they are not successful early in the season.

On the flip side, Williamstown has a shot to win a few regional games this year. They won't have a great record but they could win ten or eleven games and possibly beat the Henry's, Walton's, or other smaller schools in the area.

Grant pulled their starters when the game was within a bucket or two. Owen pulled away from Grant's JV team to win by maybe 12 points. Grant was preparing for the district tournament 48 hours down the road.

I think it was an acceptable move by the coach. The coach is judged by the quality of his program. How can keeping these two players contribute to the program? The coach has been planning his season strategy for years, two random seniors can destroy team chemistry. To older players who think that they deserve normal senior playing time can be cancerous.

I think that this is true for all sports. Everyone feels as if they have a right to weigh in on the coach's decision making. I wonder how many bankers, doctors, or laborers would stay in the same place if they had to deal with an entire community giving their two cents when it is not needed for welcomed.

I'd say that Pendleton Co. needs to win some games this year. Since their good run a few years ago, they've kind of been a pushover.

Schools are required to hire teachers for boys bball, girls bball, and football. If a school decides to hire a paraprofessional for any of these varsity positions, then they have to prove to the KHSAA that there were no teaching candidates that were qualified for the position or that there were no teaching positions available. I am almost positive that this is correct.

Well if you look objectively at the situation, a couple of questions come to mind. Why is there less attendance at boys games than girls games? Why is the Boy's State tournament played at a more elborate location than the girl's state tournament? With these two facts at hand, is there any wonder why a male coach sees boy's basketball as more of a goal than girl's basketball?

I think it builds strength and maturity, especially for those players who do not play fall sports. The question is; is it legal to require players to come to conditioning prior to Oct. 16th?

Grant has a shot to win the district this year. Walton and Simon are a little weaker than usual and GC has only gotten stronger. The team that could potentially win a few district games this year is Williamstown.

Did these two teams play last night? They were running about two hours behind schedule during the first game of a double header.
