At this point in the year, what teams have underachieved and what teams have overachived?
-
It was some tall young guy.

I agree about the goofy ref. Yes, he is a little odd, but the calls that he does indeed make are always the correct call. Hilton did show some indecision, but the blocking foul was the correct call. I'd rather a ref get the call right and late then immediate and wrong. I am a GC fan and I think we all agree that they lost because SK played about the best they've played this year. Don't listen to anyone who claims that the refs blew the game, I still think that overall it was a well called game.

This moment happened when I was reffing a few weeks ago and I honestly did not know what to do.
I throw the ball to the free throw shooter who is shooting the first of two free throws. He dribbles twice. He dribbles a third time and bounces the ball off of his foot.
Do we keep counting to ten?
If he runs after it, is it a lane violation?
IF another player runs after it, is it a lane violation?
I instinctively told one of the player to retrieve and return the ball.
Did I blow this one?

Something that I noticed was how well officiated the game was. There were some awkard moments with bookkeeping errors and Technicals at weird times that could have turned the crowd ugly. Whenever there is a close game, the crowd always finds a way to yell at refs, but I thought it was a very well officiated game.

Team A has committed 8 fouls and has possession. Team A shoots the ball. The shot rebounds towards a Team B player. Team A pushes Team B before Team B gets the rebound.
Is this considered an offensive foul?

Has anyone ever heard of a 'No possession, player control foul'

His athleticism is what I see. A pure athlete.
Are we talking about Wes Philpot? The skinny kid who doesn;t jump to well. The kids that can score 34 points off the bench? The kid with an ugly shot that always goes in?
Pure Athlete?

Phenomenal? It is the most unfundamental shot I've ever seen. It also goes in more than I usually see

Why did I not see Vories last night during the Newport/Ludlow game? Has he excused himself?
-
Yeah, I feel that it is getting way out of control.
-
I thought there was a rule about them being under the basket during play or free throws. Why are they allowed to chear during the opposing teams ft's?
-
Is there a rule about where the cheerleaders can stand?
-
what happened?

I'd say that if a program is down for a few years, then it is a good idea to schedule some definite wins in order to establish a winning attitude and build confidence. Players don't full comprehend tough schedules and weak schedules. They see the opponent and try to beat them.

Am I the only one that thinks that a coach could be even more effective if they are an effective teacher in the classroom?
-
Stacy May has done more than anyone IMO. He has taken a broken program and done some major repairs. Carroll was not as broken as W-Town.
-
I think it is also important for a coach to be an effective teacher in the classroom.
-
I got word last night from a relative of his that Maddox may be out for good. A chipped bone in his hip.
-
When this team shares the ball and has 3-4 players in double figures they are very hard to beat.
I would say that his is true for any team at any time. Their playing hard but they lack a surplus of Talent. People say that they'd rather have five player that play hard than five players with talent. These people do not last long in the coaching business.
-
Grant has by more talent up and down its roster. WTown plays harder though. This game may be close. however, if Grant does indeed play hard, they will blow out WTown by 25.
-
I'm not sure that GC has a true home court advantage. There is really a lack of atmosphere in GC's gym. There's no band, few cheerleaders, and a lack of excitement.
-
Actually they start one of each. 1 8th Grader, 1 frosh, 1 soph, 1 jr, and 1 senior. The bench is primarily 10th grade and below. A few decent jrs are on the bench however.

What is jones' ability? Can he shoot? I he a great rebounder? Can he handle defensive pressure? Someone tell me....please.
-
Why are we expecting Jones to be a major contributer? I do not believe he has played for Bellevue before. Has he shown great signs in the scrimmages? Why does the season live or die on his ability?

I'm surprised at how welll Henry county has done. Big contrast from last year.
While WTown has an improved record, I expected them to have a better record. I expected them to win some district games. I guess there is still time.
