I would have to agree about this young man's ability to play in the PAC-10! I seriously would question that!

I definitely agree with that! Jason has a bright future. He is willing to learn and wants to succeed badly! Wanting to be successful doesn't seperate Coach Hinson from other coaches, but this young man has a desire, a real deep desire to prove himself and be successful, from what I have seen. That has to bold well for the Augusta basketball program. To have the leadership and experience of Coach Kelsch and the drive and energy of Coach Hinson and the enthusiasm they both have and one would have to think you have a great mix that is bound to equal success. As someone who grew up in that area and has a real fondness for the area, I particularly love the move and wish them both nothing but the very best! :thumb:

I can see where it could be read and mis-understood, I do apologize for that guys! I guess it would have been better to have just said they were no longer 1A! HaHa!

You may be right there Scribe, you may be right. Regardless, they will not compete in the Class "A" next season. Again, I truly understand that there are not classes or anything more than 1A in KY high school basketball. Seems a lot to do over nothing really. A point that easily could have been understood had someone really taken the time to read the post. Seems like attacks (perhaps not the best word to use) are what comes more then anything! This stuff is the exact reason I usually choose not to post!!!!!!! However, thanks Scribe.

I am not saying there are classes in basketball, in football there certainly is. All I am saying is that Henry County will not participate in the All "A" if that is what you want to call it next season because of their increased enrollment. No where in my post do I say they will compete as a 2A school or that there are classes in basketball. I say they will not compete in the All A Classic, which you are referring to as the All A, because of their increased enrollment. This is not the first time this has happened at Henry County. At one time it was known as the Class A State Tournament. There may not be a finite number for enrollment, but this is still the smaller schools enrollment wise in the state. I actually said that you can be one class in one sport and another class in another sport. Basketball does not class and I completely understand that, trust me. The point was missed somehow so I am moving on fellas!

Those comments are coming from people on this forum talking about Henry County and them being 3A in football, which they certainly are. Actually Ram I think you posted that if I am correct. However, in basketball last season they competed in the Class "A" regional and state tournaments and this upcoming season they will not because in basketball they will have grown to a 2A school. I really did not realize it was this difficult!

Totally agree that Robin will never leave Augusta Schools. Robin is the past, the current face, and the future of Augusta Schools. I admire his passion and dedication to the school, the athletic department, the boys basketball program, all the students, and the community. He is a giving person and has been so since he was a young man. He comes from a tremendous family and I know his dad is looking down on him and smiling with extreme pride! Keep up the great work Coach Kelsch! :thumb:

We are not talking about their football class size fellas, this is a basketball forum and the two are not the same. A school is able to compete in different classes in different sports, it is simply the way it is!

St. Pat must have been paying Coach Hinson really well if he was wearing Armani suits! LOL! He does where nice suits, but I seriously doubt they are Armani!

I seriously doubt Coach Kelsch wants to give up a head coaching position just a couple of years after he takes over a program to be an assistant, even under his brother at his alma mater. However, they are brothers, very close brothers!

Well it would seem that Coach Hinson would be doing more than just coaching. Does he have a teaching degree? I thought I read on here that was one of the reasons he was not interviewed at Bracken County. I know I read that somewhere or was told that! I would assume he has some type of position at the school or will be working toward his degree! Also, I really feel for the St. Patrick kids and not having any formal physical education. In this day and age and with the way our country is fighting childhood obesity and so forth, it is really sad!

I like what seems to be a well thought out plan by Coach Robin Kelsch! Coach Hinson is a passionate, young, fiery coach where Coach Kelsch is a bit more laid back and reserve. I think this could be a possible match made in heaven of two talented coaches. They can feed off of each other very well, what one lacks the other has and vice-versa. I also look forward to TubbyCAT's take on this and the Bracken County news. His posts are always entertaining and informing.

So what happened to Coach Persinger?

I agree totally about the facilities at BC, extremely nice and taken care of! I also think Bracken County might need to branch out with their schedule, but they also might want to try and beat Augusta, St. Patrick, and Deming on a consistent basis before trying to move onto a bigger and better schedule! Augusta has dominated this series the last 7 to 8 seasons consistently! Bracken County vs. Augusta and Bracken County vs. Deming is tradition, from the old 38th District. With Bracken, Augusta, and St. Pat they are district foes, they need to play each other. Good for you BC fans to dream, but take little steps and accomplish something first before throwing yourself into the BIG fish bowl!

That is a small sample though and it is still very tough to do. Had a good friend who did it all for about 10-12 years, he got burnt out and now will not even watch a HS game!

Persinger has the job, CONFIRMED!!! You can make a program worse when it is broken, that for sure is certain! So will Coach Persinger improve the program or will they regress? There is NO way in this world the guy can do JH and HS basketball and give either the commitment they deserve. Surely the administration can see that!

I believe Coach Persinger will be given the time, because of his roots, to either make or break the program. I would think there are more people that are happy and more that are not as happy about this hire then some of you would like to admit. Seems from the beginning of this search, Coach Persinger, was the guy who was gonna get the job! I believe a couple of posters on another thread about the job even said so. Now, I do not think for one second that one's success as a fast-pitch softball coach translates to success on the hardwood! Perhaps, this work ethic someone spoke of will lend itself to that success. If he can coach the player's up and teach the game this will certainly help. This is what I look forward to finding out the most, can Coach Persinger coach his players up at the HS level, in basketball? The interesting thing about this will be who is right: those who are thrilled with this hire as the local boy does well and leads his alma mater or those who do not like the hire and wanted the outsider. Will BC be back in this predicament in a few years or does Persinger get the job done. Can't wait for that debate to start! I have been told this team next season, assuming all players will be back, could challenge for the Class "A" title? Now I only saw them play a couple of times last season and both were bad losses so I cannot say, just going on what a few coaches told me.

There were at least 3 people interviewed! Seems the interviews were nothing more then a dog and pony show, smokes and mirrors!
