Chicken and dumplings with mashed 'taters', maccaroni and tomatoes and I can't forget the cornbread.

My grandmother's fried chicken. She would make gravy after frying the chicken and fix a big ol' skillet of cornbread.

Just drove from Lexington to Morehead and the roads were slick in spots. The overpasses were terrible with numerous accidents. The I75, I64 southern split in Lexington looked like a junk yard with numerous vehicles involved in wrecks. Took me almost two hours to make the trip that normally takes about an hour.

I follow Elliott County in basketball, since it is where I went to school. But, I'm also a supporter of Rowan Co. since I have a fr. son playing football there. I also follow other teams in the 16th region plus some of the teams in the 10th.

Wing play football? That name sounds familiar...he is a good athlete I believe.

He did play football, but had to have surgery early in the football season that put him on the sidelines. He was the varsity backup QB and played WR (Coach Brown of the football team says that he has a great deal of potential as a QB). I understand that he has been practicing with the basketball team and should be ready to play.

I heard Cross from Rowan wasnt playing in this game anybody know for sure?

 

He has been hurt and then I heard he has been in some trouble.

He sprained an ankle in the Paris game which put him on the sidelines for the Montgomery Co. game. I heard that he will also be on the sidelines Fri. due to some disciplinary issues and not so much to do with injury.

I just got out two of the muzzle loaders this morning to get them ready. One, the flintlock for my young'un (thats the one he wants to hunt with) and the percussion for me. We saw a 6 point last weekend during the youth season, but it didn't give the young'un a shot at it. Maybe he'll see it again and get a shot at it this weekend.

I heard yesterday after the game that he had a concussion and some broken ribs, but I don't know how accurate that is. I do hope that it is not too bad and he has a speedy recovery.

This will be the toughest opponet that Rowan has faced so this season IMO. Sheldon Clark is ranked 6th in the 3A rankings. In order for Rowan to win this one, their defense will have to step it up to stop SC's running game.

I know that Rowan Co., Montgomery Co., Mason Co., Fleming Co., Harrison Co., and Bourbon Co. have freshmen teams.

This is also a bye week for Rowan Co.

I think Rowan will win by at least 2 TDs. This game will be the begining of district play and coach Brown will have the boys ready.

East Jessamine done what they needed to do in the fourth quarter to win the game.

The game is at East Jessamine this Friday at 7:30. I think this game has the potential to be a very good game. If Rowan Co. can keep it close in first three quarters, then I think they will get the win.

Closer than the scores shows?! Wasn't it just a touchdown difference? Good for Rowan County. Can they win their district this season?

The score was Rowan 27, Fleming 25 with less than one minute left in the game, when Rowan intercepted a pass and returned it for a TD with 0 left on the clock. Fleming took the lead in the third quarter. It was a real battle for both teams!

Great game. Much closer than than the score shows.

14 year old Mckenna Hatchett, a soccer player from George Rogers Clark High School died September 2, 2008 due to a staph infection that she contracted after she bruised her hip during soccer practice. Below is a link to a Lexington Hearld Leader newspaper article.

Rowan Co. had 44 rushes for 271 yds and 4 for 10 passing for 39 yds with a total offense of 310 yds.

Morgan Co. had 42 rushes for 10 yds and 3 out of 10 passing for 41 yds with one interception. Morgan Co. had 51 yds total offense.

Rowan Co. is comming off a big win while Fleming Co. lost last week. I think this one has the makings of a close game. Fleming Co. will be trying to overcome last weeks loss and this is Rowan Co's. home comming game.

I remember a temporary light being in place during a road construction/improvement process, but will stand by my statement of there being no traffic light in Sandy Hook.

I do agree that there is not a traffic light in Elliott Co. at this time, unless ther is some construction requiring a temporary light going on. There have been occasional temporary lights as you say for road contruction projects. The light that I mentioned in my previous thread was placed as a permanent light about 35 to 40 years ago, but was taken down after a few months for the reasons I stated.

Yep! It was the mid to late seventies. Ask someone who has lived there----say about 40 years! :eek:

I grew up in Elliott Co. and can atest to the fact that at one time (I think it early to mid seventies) a red light was at the intersection of state routes 32 and 7. I was fairly young at the time, but I remember that it only stayed up for a few months before being removed. Apparently someone kept shooting the individual lights out of it and the state got tired of repairing it, so they took it down.
