2008 George Rogers Clark
I do agree, Robert Hatton is just a solid mentally prepared player in any sport he plays in. Robbie Stenzel, on the other hand is older than most kids he played with so I don't think it's fair to include him. His family held him back, not for academics, but for basketball. He never had any intentions of joining the football program, whether they were winning OR losing. The Cowboys... a team who always "somehow" ends up stacked each year. Just look at a couple of years ago, they added a 3rd coach at the very last minute just so his son would go on the cowboys. How sad!! Don't get upset anyone because I speak on it...the whole town is anyway. Kinda of like how the award at the GRC banquet usually goes to a past "Cowboys" player. The chances are better of finding more talent if you are the school that has the most kids, but those kids still have to be coached. Clark Middle has gone undefeated, but props to Conkwright as well because they only ususally lose 1 game a season...but wasn't the season changed a few years back making it to where they play easier teams now. I'm not certain on this "rumor" which is why I'm asking. But maybe this favortism, making a weaker schedule, and all the other political things that goes into our football here in Clark Co is catching up to us at the High School level, when we DO have to play other good teams. Win or lose...I still support all the kids and coaches who go out there and bust their butt day in and day out. I prefer the wins tho!! LOL

GRC
Columbia is a good coach. True enough I do think he had too much on his plate and should hire an offensive cor. to assist him. Humphries on the other hand....I was very upset to hear that they kept him. ONLY BECAUSE a female teacher who knows her subject inside and out and was able to teach it very well was let go and NOW Humphries will be teaching all of her classes. It's sad because as far as education goes, the students have been ripped off. But that goes to show you how a school favors sports over education. I do think it's funny though, because now Humphries will actually have to teach something and not just be someone who chases down truant kids. Well at least he will have to earn my tax dollars instead of hanging out in his office all day and later coaching basketball.

That's pretty much what I heard as well. What I heard is... On Gillespie - That he wasn't there that much in the off season which is why another QB got "his spot" Creteau - Is injured. I was surprised he even came back at all this year anyway because he is focusing more on baseball. Menchen - thought he would be the front runner for this spot. He IS a HARD worker that's for sure. Agree that his missing 2 a days really hurt him. He went to an air force camp, which is where he is headed with his future, so you really can't fault him. Dini - it was said he got the spot only because he was the one that was there the most in the off season. They actually asked Jarrod Thomas to be QB but he declined. I differ a little on this aspect, but Dini is known to have led in his feet, he can not scramble at all. He was QB at Conkwright Barnes was QB at Clark Middle. Clark Middle went undefeated the last two years beating out Conkwright. Dini had a so so arm, but ending this on a more positive note...he does look ALOT better with his throwing now than he ever has anytime in the past. Maybe the more snaps are paying off for him. Barnes and Skinner are definately naturally athletic, work hard, and have that "passion" for the game. Both would be an asset anywhere they are placed on a field. They hit, can take a hit, run fast and Barnes has a nice arm. I can't wait for the season to start to enjoy watching all the players give it their all. Scrimmage 15th in Whitley Co. Anyone going?

Upcoming sophmores
George Rogers Clark: Andrew Dini, Mykal Barnes & Darius Skinner Dini - possibly looking at being QB of the Varsity team Barnes & Skinner - all around great athletes in any sport, any position they seem to play. The type of player that leaves his heart on the field/court. I don't think anyone can out work these 2 at all.

Tobacco products at Russell
This is only my opinion (so be gentle LOL) but I think that if we don't want our kids to smoke until they are 18 then we shouldn't bring tobacco products to a place that's dedicated to them. We know that a school is where children will be, whereas a pool hall is where adults will be. I'm not saying whether I do or don't support the smoking ban elsewhere, but in a school it's just the right decision in my book to keep the tobacco away.

It is said that he was the one that was there the most in the off season and that is something the coaches love.

Dunbar 7 on 7
How is Dini looking on the field now? Is he the QB that is replacing Dougie Mason? What about Gillespie, Menchen and Creteau?

Now that it has been a couple of months since many of you last posted, Which QB do you think will replace Mason as QB now? What are some strengths of these QB's and what are some things they still need to work on? Senior - Gillespie Juniors - Creteau & Menchen Sophomores - Barnes, Dini & Skinner?
