Add #76, Trapp to the mix of tough lineman! Of the 95 total offense plays that HHS ran, 92 of them were between the tackles (3 were passes).Trapp blocked hard on 91 of them, he was out of the game for the other one. Add Carson to the running back core. Add Towles to the back field as being the man. Of all the plays he QB'd last night, all were running plays. It would have been the perfect opportunity for him to show his passing talent, he was quite impressive in the FTJFL last year. HHS also has a talented receiving core. Some passing routes to the middle, a quick pass, a reverse, these guys would be involved in the game. If HHS runs the same offense next week against the Camels, it will be quite interesting.

Coaches getting involved in the game is why HHS wins championships. What freshman player wouldn't want their future head coach on the sideline with them, pumping them up. The players appreciate first hand what Coach Mueller does for them at the freshman level. He gets no extra pay for being on the sidelines. He does it because he loves the game and the kids he coaches. It is a great positive, the varsity head football coach giving you a talk at halftime. Not only was Coach Mueller there, but so was the majority of the varsity coaching staff and a number of the varsity players. Go Birds!

Couldn't agree with you more Birddad! Coach Mueller put a fire under the birds and they responded. What we need is the HHS fans to be more like coach, a few antics in the stands, maybe stand up and cheer on the team. Least we forget, these are 14 year old young men that practice hard 3-4 hours a day, wanting to succeed, wanting to represent their team, the tradition of HHS football. It irritates me, that fans on this site after a big win, criticize there own players and coaches. The O line was not okay, they dominated. The receivers aren't running suspect routes, they are running the deep routes that are called. Why, maybe the coaching staff wanted to keep the middle open for the run. I don't know for sure, but there has to be a reason we haven't ran any slants, quick passes, and very few routes to the middle line, yet.

HHS freshman fans. Things are indeed looking good. You guys are correct on the blocking by Ozzy Sheehan last night. He took the DB out of the play on the screen to True and also on the big run, the last score to Quinlen. Miller also made block after block on runs. This "team" is good, the 2nd game of their short careers against a real good CCH team and they came up to the task. The HHS backs are dominating, the revamped O line since the last game is wicked. Talking about blocking, Isles was downfield hammering CCH guys play after play.Trapp handled his new position like a man, some real good blocks to open big holes. My understanding is that in the HHS locker room after the game there were some high fives about great runs and great blocks. We have been living on the run, once our passing game comes around which it will, things will be even better. Lets also give our kicking team a high five, Towles and New.

I have watched the tape of the game several times. On the 2 point conversion it had nothing to do with the secondary, that was the linebackers assignment, it was his man in a zone defense on the short route, not the secondary. NCC had some good runs in the game and completed some good passes. Bottom line, they only scored one touchdown.

Maybe I was at a different game, but the HHS secondary looked pretty good to me. NCC completed one pass that should have been knocked down by HHS right corner but was caught late in the game. However, Towles intercepted the ball on either the next play or a couple of plays later to seal the game, not to mention he made a couple of big hits. The secondary also contained NCC, nobody got outside on running plays.

I attended both the HHS and the CovCath freshman games this past week. Taped both games. HHS used and showed very little of their offense last week. I'm sure that the HHS coaching staff was very aware of the six Cov Cath coaches scouting in the stands and hoping that Cov Cath's defensive plan this week is to clog the middle. Highlands coaching staff wasn't born yesterday. Not making any predictions, but HHS will score more than 7.

All Highlands ran was a dive play and True broke free they were not trying to run up the score.
