I'm just not here for the Lincoln County doesn't support its coaches and programs.  It's not the community and administration fault that the product was poor.

I did not mean to imply that the community support is not there.  In fact, I think the support has been as high the last 3 or 4 years as I've ever seen from a community stand point. Booster club activity, new facilities etc. But there was a significant administrative change that affected the Head Coach.  Josh was only in year 2.  I don't think he was given enough time.  Just my opinion.

That’s how it usually works.  Just seems to me everyone is slamming Lincoln County support, and I don’t think it’s valid.  They have a solid booster club and pay well relatively speaking, and quite frankly they weren’t successful on the field last two years when you have all-time leading QB and veteran nucleus.  With their JR class, I think a coach can spark a new energy and depending on SOS can be solid.

Yeah, we'll have to agree to disagree on that one.

  3. My Sr. year at Boyle our biggest win that year was a huge upset of Lincoln County.  Boyle found success down the road with the right combination of Coach, administration and support.  It can be done, but you really need all three.  Lincoln never can get the right three at the same time, but it can be done.

  4. Really looking for the names of the teams that you would like to coach.....if you were a HC.  I made a decent list.  But what teams are out there that only the locals may realize is a better job than many think?  I personally don't believe it has to be a state title contender year in and year out.

  5. Missing Friday nights so I thought I would bring this up to hear everyone else's opinion.  This is a tough question that usually only people close to a team or school can know. Which coaching jobs would everyone consider the really good jobs?  I know a few that I think probably are.  But a lot of those are just going by what I see written on here, success on the field, fan and community support, the word of some of the coaches I know.  Of course it's just my perception, only the coaches at these school really know if they are supported, helped and what not.  Not a real serious discussion, not looking to have any schools bashed or put down, just really wanting to know which jobs most people believe are really good places to be. I'm not looking for the jobs most consider bad jobs. Might be a few that many think "used to be" really good but now, not so much.  Just look for some off season discussions while many of these open jobs are being filled.  A program might not necessarily be a team that wins a lot to be on this list.  Don't think State Titles are a requirement to make it.  I know nobody coaches high school athletics for the money so money might not be much of a factor but it may not hurt.

I played for Boyle County and I know a good bit about it and it's history.  I've been around it most of my life.  I personally think it's a very good job.

This isn't a complete list, but just a few by class that come to mind for me.  I'm going to list the jobs that I perceive to be good.  Maybe if we get a lot of participation we can figure out what jobs may be Elite.

1A -  Pikeville, Williamsburg, Middlesboro, NCC, Campbellsville.

2A -  Mayfield, Owensboro Cath., LCA, Somerset.

3A - Louisville Central, CAL, E-town., LexCath, Bell Co., Belfry.

4A - Logan County, Paducah Tilghman, Bardstown, CovCath, Ashland, Johnson Central, Boyle, Corbin.

5A - Owensboro, Bowling Green, South Warren, Collins, Scott County, Highlands, Pulaski, Southwestern.

6A - Henderson County, Central Hardin, Manual, Meade, St. X., Bullitt East, Male, Ballard, Trinity, Ryle, Simon Kenton, Bryan Station, Frederick Douglas.

Again, aside from the schools that I know well, a lot of this is just perception.  Might be some really nice jobs out there that are just low key.  Don't make a lot of noise but might be a great place to work.  I don't know a lot about far western Ky. schools.  If a school has had a ton of turnover I probably left them off.  A couple I added then erased.  Let me know what you think.

Hearing Travis Burns name closely linked to the Pulaski job opening. How big of a loss would that be to the leader of the Rebels defense? How many coaches would Burns bring with him?

Would be a big loss for Boyle.  Travis is a really good coach and the players like playing for him.  Fortunately for Boyle, they have a fairly large and experienced staff.  Someone would step and take the reigns but I hate to see Travis go if he does.

I also don't blame him if he has a desire to be a head coach.  Pulaski is a strong program with a ton of community support.  It would be a good fit for both I think.

But I would hate to see him go.

I'm wondering why Foley was being discussed so much for this job.  He's already coaching at the other school in the system. He's completely owned Pulaski County since he's been at Southwestern.  Where is there any advantage in moving across town?  It's the same system, the pay is going to be the same. He's got his staff in place at Southwestern. It's not a given that he can just take them all with him if he changes schools. And why would the Pulaski County school system put themselves through all the trouble of moving a coach and/or staff from one school to the other, then have to go through the whole process again at Southwestern? It just makes no sense that Foley would want the job, or that the school system would entertain the idea of moving him.

A few years ago Pulaski was a better job than SW because of each schools principal.  Not sure if that is still the case but it was just a few years ago.

Yea the Rebels are playing really good now.  54.5% last night and 53.6% shooting for the 2 games.  In most of the losses that Boyle have, they have been shooting under 30% for the games.

Difference in % is due to difference in style.  Steals lead to transition baskets and they are pretty good at that.  Offensively Boyle still really struggles in half court offensive sets.  Not bad from three, but just don't have a good identity in the half court.  But since all of their starters are football players it only stands to reason they would take some time to figure things out.
