  2. Great Game for Augusta! Played very hard. Had a chance to tie the game for OT but went for the win. I think it was the right call. Had a good look, unfortunately didn't go in for them. Very well coached and good game plan. They need to be proud.

BB played a little flat but turned it on and came from behind. \

Good Luck to both teams as they move on this season.

  3. Here is the rest of the 10th Region All Tournament team.

All-tournament team: Reesa Martin (Nicholas County), Payton Govan (Silver Grove), Chelsea Fryman (Deming), Zania Caudill (Calvary Christian), Kate Staggs (Augusta), Allana Ahrens and Sara Sticklen (Bracken County), Sarah Futscher and Rachel Hartig (Bishop Brossart), Morgan Crain and Asia Sims (Paris), and Brooke Mosler, Chelsea Douglas and Allison Tolle (St. Patrick).

All-academic team: Mandi McLean (Nicholas County), Cindy Miller (Silver Grove), Chelsea Fryman (Deming), Kate Staggs (Augusta), Amie Roaden (Calvary Christian), Nicole Ridder (Bishop Brossart), Allana Ahrens (Bracken County), Tori Harris (Paris), Lydia Hamilton (St. Patrick).

This may sound like a stupid question, but what determines the all academic team? Best GPA on team? Who decides?

  4. Before everyone goes piling up on us, (Brossart), I'd like to clear a few things up.

We're sorry that our on-site gymnasium only seats 750 and that we are unable to host the 10th Region "A" tournament at Brossart High School. We would love to have a gym that seats 1200-1500, but we don't.

We really want to be in the rotatation. We feel that just because we can't host it on-site shouldn't mean that we (or Augusta, Calvary, SG, or St. Pat) can't host it at all. We have gone to great lengths in the past to host it at the Campbell County Middle School and this year to host it at Regents Hall at NKU. It would be easy to pass and not go through the time, effort, and trouble to host the tournament. But we feel that we can do a first-class job, and provide a positive experience for everyone involved - teams and fans alike. Just because school's with gyms that seat 1,000 people doesn't mean that all of the other bases are covered - parking, locker room facilities, etc..

At Regents Hall we will have ample seating, four spacious locker rooms, and parking areas set off for our fans.

We are working tirelessly to make this tournament a success. We will have a first-class hospitality room sponsored by Barleycorn's (Jan 19-22nd) and Subway (Jan 17th). We are producing a full-color, spiral bound program and are creating sharp commemorative T-Shirts that we plan on selling at a minimum price. We are going to broadcast the entire tournament over the internet so that those who can't come to Northern Kentucky can listen to the games and those at the game can go home and listen to the replay. We are going to provide pizza (or something suitable) and Gatorade to each team following their games. We are really going the extra mile to gain approval from the participating teams and their fans. I feel like the rental car company who was Number 2 and had to try harder - that because we don't have a gym that meets the requirements, we have to work harder to make up for it with a quality product.

When we contracted with NKU to host the tournament there, they said they would block off parking for us, but the first mention of a fee was at our meeting with the facilities coordinator last Wednesday. We pushed back, requested an exception, and are presently pursuing the possibility of paying a "blanket" charge that perhaps we could deduct from tournament revenues to eliminate the parking fees. Nothing is etched in stone. I will be honest, because this is a five day event, it is likely that a "blanket" fee, should NKU agree to one, might be cost prohibitive.

The parking fee is is the same argument that led to a multi-page thread on this site back when the 10th Region tournament was held at the BOK Center two years ago. When all was said and done, the consensus was that the 10th Region was a huge hit with the fans and that as long as it was part of a four-year rotation, it was a welcome change of pace, and something that most fans/teams would look forward to every four years.

The same applies here. Brossart is only one team in a nine team rotation. Even narrowing the rotation down to the teams who presently wish to host the tournament, Brossart is only going to host the tournament every five years.

All we ask is to be given a chance. I would hate to see a great effort on our part to conduct a first-class event be totally overshadowed and only remembered becasue of a $3 parking fee. Give us a chance and then write the reviews following the tournament. I think we will pass muster with flying colors.

Thanks for all your hard work! See ya there.
