  1. The team looked solid in the two preseason scrimmages I saw them. Every guy seems to know their role and they run through their sets untill they find someone cheating or they get a good open look. They have a good Knowledge of the game and as long as they keep playing as hard as they have been they should be fine against any opponent. What about Williamstown? They had a few guys at the CC scrimmage scouting but didn't get a chance to see them pre season? If i recall there are several key guys back from last year and one or two that have been playing substantial Vars. minutes since Fresh. or Soph. year. Im going to take Carroll in this one, probably by double digits.
  2. I agree and I apologize for doing this. "The Carroll County Panthers" are goign to surprise some people, and I agree with the fact that they are going to do it as a team and no matter which group of guys they put on the floor they are going to be successful. This is clear with how they played against Ludlow this past weekend. It seems the first couple of quarters, no matter who was in the game points were going up on their side of the board and they were keeping them from racking up on the other side. Thanks for opening my eyes to the fact that who starts the game is not really going to have any difference on the success of this team. See everyone in Williamstown!!! Carroll by Double Digits :thumb:
  3. Black and Gold scrimmage was tonight and I couldn't help but get cold chills when my boys were runnin the court. The two teams were divided almost perfectly. The two almost matched each other basket for basket and stop for stop. While neither half was a very high scoring affair, both teams were getting after it, running the floor making the extra pass and finishing the shot. Saw many good things from many different key players. The Football guys don't seem to be having any trouble getting up and down the court. It was discussed earlier in the thread about probable starters and I think the four of Hendricks, Allen, Yager, and Cable have secured their spot and i think the third would have to go to Brocious. He scrapped and hustled and his mid range jumper looked nice. He also has the age on the other guys and has grown up alot over the past year. But i'm deff not the coach and i'm sure which ever team Coach decides to put on the floor, they will go to war for him. Respect for Coach Yager seems to be through the roof and I think these guys are back loving the game from years past. Could this be CC's year to go back to All A?
  4. All A is a HUGE part of 8th region basketball. The winner always seems to make noise in the regional tournament. Gallatin last year. Hello. Wake up and smell the coffee. This is not just Oldhams and Shelby anymore. The bigger schools better not look over these "A" schools or they are going to be surprised in the "real tourney"
  5. I think your right with the Gallatin and Owen matchup in the finals. I don't know if Henry (losing Roberts) will have the scorer that could keep them close to the Gallatins and Owens. Owen and Gallatin seem to be the two more likely teams to reach the finals. Owen's Gamble and Shelton will play key roles in their success and Coach Duvall will do a good job getting his guys to play at their level. Gallatin seems to be my favorite. There is a swagger that a three time repeating champ has in big game situations. Even losing some big names GC still has one of the top players in the region in Maddox and a host of support players that could be good compliments to his game. Like Henry, I see Trimble competing but just not quite being able to clear the hump. But I think one of the biggest underdogs this year are the Panthers of Carroll County. Returning most key players, the panthers could very easily make some noise. Yager, Hendricks, Cable, Allen, Craig, Proctor, and Brocious have been playing together through JV two years ago and now at the Varsity level. They took their lumps last year. But with a new coach, whoever that may be, i look for them to be a fun team to watch. Sorry if I got to rambling or put anyone to sleep. LOVE 8th REGION ALL A!!!!:thumb:
  6. I think Penny is the top player in the region with a couple of close seconds. I really like the Maddox kid who seems to be able to take a game over, the only thing that worries me about the GC Wildcats is their ability to get him the ball. Losing the older Jones boy and Brown you lose a lot of your veteran guard play, and with the Henson boy gone he loses that inside destraction that left him open a lot of the time. I don't want to count out any of the small schools in the region because im not sure what the bigger schools have returning. I like Anderson's chances riding on the back of Penny and several returning players. I'm liking the underdogs this year in the 8th but we won't know till tourney time.
  7. With the talent returning any coach would thrive in the situation. If credentials for Yager are questioned, you have to look at the player his son is. He has molded Will into the talented young player he is. What if he got his hands on the already talented returning roster. Being a true fan I can't even begin to imagine all of the success the team could have, if they will (no pun intended) put in the effort that a new coach needs in his first year. I wouldn't look the program to be in a rebuilding phase no matter which name appears in the program come october. The only thing I look for is how the veteran lineup responds to the new coach. Knowing the character and the love of the game that lives in them there is no doubt in my mind that the brighter days are in the near future for the Panthers.
