  1. So the 4th, 12th, 14th, 15th and 16th Region teams are already gone. What a coincidence. Surprised???
  2. I love this time of year as well for the same reason. I'm not trying to exclude the Region Champs. All I'm suggesting is to allow more teams in.
  3. Congrats on the win over Ashland Paul Blazer. That's something Eastern, Fern Creek, Trinity and Henry Clay couldn't do. Heck Deming and Augusta couldn't do it either. I agree. I never said you did. I just wish the best teams in the state played in the state tournament, not just the best team in each region. If UCONN or Nova lose in the Big East Tourney they still go to the NCAA tournament, as Winthrop or Davidson do not take their place. I believe there is room for more teams in the State Tourney. This will likely never happen though. I wonder why?
  4. Who in the world is Elliott???:creepy: Great point about the private school championship.:sssh: If your hatred for Trinity, and/or private schools, affects your rationalization insert Fern Creek or Eastern. If your hatred for Louisville Schools affects your rationalization insert Henry Clay.
  5. Once again, don't restrict this to just Trinity. Rather, apply it to any of the 7th Region tournament teams who don't make the Sweet 16, be it Male, J-Town, Ballard, Eastern, Fern Creek etc. Feel free to do the same analysis for the 11th region.
  6. Maybe it's me, but tied with the number 2 team in the state in the 4th quarter, isn't that bad.
  7. Take Trinity out of the equation and insert any team in the 7th that finishes second through seventh. How about Fern Creek or Eastern? Or J-Town or Ballard? Or Male? How are four of those schools going to feel when they see Paintsville and Fairview in the Sweet 16?
  8. I'm sure they're very upset, and they should be. Some of these regions are a joke, as evidenced by the Lit, Cantrell and Masey ratings. I guess it's analagous to the way the NCAA used to be when only the conference champs would get a bid.
  9. Why should you? Every year, you have an easier road to the Sweet 16. There's no reason for you to be upset.
  10. Wasn't that bad. Trinity tied it with 6:44 to go, but Byron went out of the game due to an injury. Male then scored 31 points in roughly 6 minutes to win. Male's the better team.
  11. Nope. I always have known the 7th is a great region, but I just didn't realize there were this many poor basketball regions in the state each and every year. I figured this year was an anamoly.
  12. So once again, using the "scientific" Massey Rating System now, the 7th place team in Region 7 would be... The Favorite to Win: Region 12 Region 14 Region 15 Region 16 and... Ranked Second in: Region 1 Region 2 Region 3 Region 4 Region 8 Region 13 Wow! Thanks for the eye opener mcpapa!:thumb:
  13. Jim, thanks for the response. The problem though is that I am comparing the 6th place team in the 7th region to the 1st place team in the others. I didn't even bother looking at the top teams in the 7th versus other regions, but I'll wager that margin isn't "pretty thin".
  14. So just about every year, the 6th place team in Region 7 would be the best team in SEVEN other regions?:scared:
  15. I guess the phrase "Beauty is in the eye of the beholder" never rang more true.
  16. What rankings do you prefer? I'll use any that you want.
  17. The point of my post was to illustrate how weak some of the Sweet 16 teams are going to be, and that's assumming the favorites win out.
  18. 7th Region has 5 of the top 18 teams in the state!!! Trinity, the 6th ranked team in Region 7 would be ranked accordingly in the following Regions: Region 1: 1st Region 2: 1st Region 3: 2nd Region 4: 1st Region 5: 3rd Region 6: 3rd Region 8: 2nd Region 9: 3rd Region 10: 2nd Region 11: 4th Region 12: 1st Region 13: 2nd Region 14: 1st Region 15: 1st Region 16: 1st
  19. Are you talking about 2003 or 2005? Trinity's 15th or 16th State Championship?
