That is for the Knights of Columbus Tournament at Boyle Co. High School...
Here is a break down for the tourney...
Danville vs. Casey @ 10:00 am
Lincoln vs. Corbin @ 11:15 am
Boyle vs. Mercer @ 12:30 pm
Garrard vs. West Shelby @ 1:45 pm
Casey beat Danville, and Lincoln killed Corbin, so it will be Lincoln vs Casey in the upper bracket. I am wondering why Lexington Catholic didn't play in this tourney this year. They have been in it the last several years, and won it last year. Hmmmmmmmm.........:idunno:
-
Lincoln won to advance to the elite eight, but that is all the info I have. GO EAGLES!
-
By the way, Rainman, how is SC doing this year? Is Quin back yet and is Dylan's back healthy now?? We look forward to seeing you at the state tournament!
-
Blevins and Perry did their 8th grade team last year, but Turner West -- who coached the Lexington Ice AAU for years and helped out throughout different levels of the LCA program -- is the coach. Scott County played them at LexCath in December and won by 9, but I understand LCA was missing a couple of starters (of course, SC was missing Portwood). But, the new kid from Clark County had about 25 and kept them in the game.
What position does he play and what is his ht/wt???:scared:
-
LCA has a pretty good 8th grade team. Might give Lincoln some trouble if they play. I would expect Lincoln to win, but don't take them lightly. Their group last year as 7th graders wasn't very good, but they had a player move in from Clark County to compliment some returnees.
Aren't they coached by some former UK players?? Maybe JP Blevins and Bobby Perry????
-
Southern Middle (Southwestern) out of Somerset is playing in the tournament.
How is the Southern 8th grade team this year? Lincoln plays them twice at the end of February, so I haven't seen them play this year. Maybe we will meet up this weekend!

Lincoln County (20 - 0) is playing in the Lexington Christian Academy 8th grade tourney this weekend. Does anyone know what other teams are participating?
-
could you tell me who you are referring to on lincolns bench??
Matt Cooper, Zach Hill, Tre' Owens, Dwayne Whitaker......I hear from a very close source that the JV beats the varsity in practice QUITE often. Lincoln has NO rebounding from what I have seen at the games, and if the starters and the current subs aren't going to rebound, then why not put in Cooper (a junior who can rebound and shoot the three) or Hill (sophomore who can really rebound)? Owens is a great defender, and Whitaker is an excellent shooter. There are others on the bench who might make a real difference if they were given the chance. Lincoln had a 20 point lead on Tuesday night vs Danville, and the coach never let his bench in!!! Spurlin can't carry the team every night as he did on Tuesday with 36 points - and it's not fair that he has that burden on his shoulders every game.
Now, I understand that I am not the coach, so maybe there is a good reason for not playing your talented bench. Maybe it's strength, or maturity, etc.! What do I know???
-
Does Lincoln play Wayne again during the regular season? I can't find my schedule.... I know that we beat them quite handily in the game in December, and we were not even playing our best basketball then...but then they probably weren't either, right?
If Lincoln continues to improve, and the coach will start letting his very talented bench play, then they will be right there in the regional finals.

Lincoln's 7th beat Meece last night. It was a close game until the middle of the 4th quarter, when Lincoln went ahead for good.
-
Lincoln 8th remains undefeated, beating Rockcastle County last night by 30 or so. Next game is tonight vs Meece. Go Eagles!
-
Lincoln wins, 60 - 40. Wondering why Coach Jackson doesn't sub the bench in when they are up by 20 most of the third and fourth quarters. Seems like you are just asking for an injury to one of your starters. And besides that, I hear that the bench warmers beat the starters in practice a whole lot! lol

I don't think there is a rule regarding this ....
On another note, Richardson for Scott County out up to 6 weeks with hairline fracture in his ankle.
I hate to hear that as well. Quin is such a competitor, I'm sure it will kill him to have to sit out that long. Best wishes from Lincoln County for a speedy recovery!:thumb:

Clinton County is 16-0 with it's biggest wins coming over Russell County 8th, Warren Central (Moss) 8th, Warren East 8th, and winning the Bowling Green Invitational. Clinton County would be a factor in the 8th grade state but I think Ian Asher is being added to the varsity roster and will not be playing at the middle school after Xmas break. He could be seeing some varsity action, he can play.
Can a middle schooler who actually gets varsity minutes still play middle school ball, or is he/she done at the M/S level once those varsity minutes are played? Just curious..........

Any info on the Lex Christian tournament this past weekend? I heard Lincoln Co. and Royal Springs were in the finals and Hazard was playing LCA for 3rd place. Anyone know who won? Scores?
Don't know the score but heard that Lincoln won the tournament.

Lincoln 8th beat Danville Bate last night to remain undefeated. Would LOVE to play Clinton! Wouldn't that be a good game!!!!:ylsuper:
-
Lincoln swept Casey County last night. Next up, Rockcastle County on Monday. Wish we were playing in the McCreary tourney tomorrow. Good luck to those who are!

Top five 8th grade teams as of 11/19/08:
1) Scott Co.
2) Christian Co.
3) S. Laurel
4) Knox Central
5) Lincoln Co.
I have seen both Knox Central and S. Laurel play this year and as of right now I think S. Laurel is playing better basketball (and that is even with South missing one of their better players). It will be interesting to see the outcome of the South vs Knox game later in the season (Jan. 8 at Knox and Jan. 22 at South).
In a perfect world (or on a perfect Lincoln schedule), we would be playing all these teams!
-
They do have a 6-3 / 6-4 kid, but he is the same one they have always had -- just keeping growing .... Catholic actually beat Scott County by 2 Saturday in a running clock Pan-o-rama at McNabb in 8th grade .... Portwood did not play for Scott County as he has been nursing a back injury all pre-season .... Scott County gets Catholic in SC's season opener tomorrow night .... Portwood is expected to play .... I expect a different outcome tomorrow night once the teams play a full game at full strength, but Catholic has a nice team .... They will do well this year .... Scott County will see a lot of them as they have a potential to play 4 times (3 on schedule and also in the same tournament) ....
No, I remember the BIG blonde kid, but there was one I don't remember who looked like he was a sophomore. I have never seen a middle school game with more HORRIBLE refereeing! It was almost funny it was soooooo bad! Our tallest kid, who I think scored 25 against them last year had to sit the whole first half with 2 fouls and eventually fouled out in the 3rd quarter. It was pitifully called and we were lucky to get the win for that reason. We were fortunate that ALL our kids played well, in spite of the MANY fouls and 3 second calls and 5 second calls, etc.
But I guess that's the way it goes when you play them on their floor! I really wasn't that impressed with them and I say good luck to Scott County - kick their butts for Lincoln!:thumb:
-
Lincoln County 6th/7th/8th swept Boyle County last night. We play Lexington Catholic tonight in Lex. Our 8th grade team has beaten them every time we have played them since these kids were in 6th grade. Hopefully there won't be any "NEW" 6'5" additions to their team, LOL.
-
Congrats to Lincoln's 8th grade team - they beat Wayne County last night by 33 points, 62-29. Wayne took the 6th grade game by a BUNCH and the 7th grade by two, I believe.
Lincoln looked REALLY good, although it was their first game - so we shall see how the season goes!
-
Lincoln has a couple of guys around that same size - Luster at 6'1" and over 200 with great hands, and Hill at 6'2" and probably 180. Looking forward to meeting up with Wayne on Monday!

FYI I posted this in KYMSFA Thread as well...On a side note in December 09 the KABC is planning a Middle School Basketball Sweet 16 with regional tournaments and all, there will be regional hosts and a Sweet 16 at Frankfort Civic Center. This is as close to it gets as "real"....unfortunatley some schools/conferences (fayette) will not allow them to participate as they do not start basketball until Jan.......there will always be exceptions!
Wish they would start it this year!:irked:
-
Wayne Co. is legitimate. None of their kids will turn 16 until the next school year. The same group of kids have been playing together the last 3 years. Shelton is their player and he is strong! :thumb:
What is his size (ht/wt) and position? Give me a little scouting report, ha ha!

Well, I'm confused, so someone help me out...the KBA site shows Scott County with 2 wins and 1 loss, but the brackets show them with 3 wins. Which is it???
