  1. This should be an interesting year in the 12th region. McCreary and West Jessamine are the elite of the region and everyone else will be trying to knock them off with an upset win. Although a lot can happen between now and March, I see the 48th district as the easiest to predict and the 47th as the most difficult. McCreary, with Watts and Roark, should win the 48th with Wayne finishing 2nd. Southwestern could sneek into the region tournament, but I think they will be too young to make it this year. But, for the next 4-5 years, I would expect Southwestern to be a threat to the region title on a consistant basis.

The 47th district is anyones guess. Rockcastle is probably the favorite, but all 4 are about equal. Pulaski Co. is very young and will probably be lead by Taylor Gover since Muse will not be playing. Dixon is also out until at least January so they will have it rough for a while. If Dixon fully recovers I would think they will make it to the region tournament. Somerset will also have it rough starting out the season. They may not win a game in December because the majority of the team will still be wearing their helmets and shoulder pads. But come March, Coach Daniels will have them in region tournament.

Taylor can definitely handle that! I look forward to watching him play!:ylsuper:

  2. I am definitely looking forward to the upcoming season, Purple Pride! I think the district is really wide open, and I can't wait to see how things play out. Of course, I am hoping that Lincoln comes out as champ!

My sons tell me that we have some scrimmages next month with Tates Creek and Bryan Station, among others....so I am anxious to see how we fare against those really good teams!

  3. I think after Danville our district is wide open. Granted, I don't know a lot about Lincoln, but what are they bringing back to convince me that Boyle County doesn't have a chance to be better than Lincoln? Won't they be starting a brand new sophomore point guard? Didn't they lose 2 or 3 of their best players from last year's team?

I'm not so sure about Danville, either.....however, I do think the district is wide open. It will be interesting to see who's on top at the end of the season.

I did hear from a supposed reliable source that several of Boyle's "veterans" had decided not to play basketball this year for whatever reasons. And didn't Boyle lose a few players to graduation also?

Yes, Lincoln will be starting a sophomore point guard, who is the little brother of our senior pg from last season. But we did very well in summer ball with him AND our freshman point guard. I think a lot of people will be surprised by LC this season and how good they will be come March! :thumb:

  4. Lincoln County is not a top 10 team in Central KY, IMO, yet. I think you have them there based on past history, which is fine, but I think Danville and Mercer County and quite possibly Boyle County will be better than Lincoln County this year. Lincoln County got younger this year and it may be a year or 2 before they are mentioned in the top 10 in Central KY.

    Just my thoughts.......

  6. Are the numbers next to each players name their ranking in the state? If so, there is absolutely NO way you can tell me that their are 67 eighth graders in the state ranked ahead of Brandon Hatton. This kid took his AAU team to Memphis for DI nationals and went 8-1 and finished with a national ranking of #8 in the country. Also, if the number represents a national ranking, he would have to be a top 25 player based on the players at the Memphis National tournament.

No, I'm pretty sure that is a national ranking!

  7. Just a little info on Hicks I thought I'd pass along. He visited UC this past weekend and will be headed to Ohio State and Indiana in October...

I thought there was a rule that said that colleges were not allowed to contact or recruit a player until something like May or June of his Sophomore year of high school. Did I dream that?

How old is Hicks anyway? I know he is a "freshman" but is he a true freshman?

  8. Don't see how anyone could leave Tyson Williams off any list of top Freshman. 6' 5" 235 and a gifted talent. Will be a man playing with Boys when he is a Sr.

I definitely agree that Tyson belongs on the list...but I think 6'5" is pushing it by about 2 inches. With shoes he's probably 6'4", but at my last measurement, he was 6'3". And I can't wait to see him as a senior!!!:ylsuper:
