  1. Nope, it's Luke Hill. We are loaded with guards but short in the post. Luke was there last weekend cheering for Gover, so we asked him to play this weekend and see how it works out.

Oh ok, well he should do well - I read in the local paper that he did good at the state tournament - set some kind of scoring record maybe? Don't hold me to that - but it was something like that. I thought you might be talking about Carl Lewis Cummins - he is an awesome guard for Lincoln.

I had heard that Lincoln was entering their 8th grade team in the 14U tourney this weekend but I don't see them on the list.

Lincoln has a very promising group of 7th graders (class of 2013) and also 6th graders, hopefully they will continue their success into high school!

Good luck to all this weekend!

  2. As far as the makeup of the Thunder, 6 are from Georgetown, 1 from Lexington, 2 from Falmouth, 1 from Somerset, 1 from Mt. Sterling and there will be one from your neck of woods joining this weekend, but I am guessing with your question you were probably already aware. :ylsuper:

No I wasn't aware and now you have my interest peaked! Where is he from and I am guessing here...is it a guard with the initials CLC?

  3. All in all, it was a disappointing weekend for the Thunder, only because they went down to the wire with The Ville in the first game, losing 54-52 but couldn't get back to the rematch. But, again, there is no shame in losing to the Rising Stars. We knew going in they would be tough.

By the way, the KBA put the 2 13U teams that are playing up this weekend in the 14U D2 in the same pool -- Thunder vs. The Ville Saturday morning. Look for Scott County to take the 14U D2 with Tamron Manning leading the way.

How do you think the G-town Thunder and The Ville will do in 14U this weekend? Will the Thunder have all of their players? Are they all from Scott County (with the exception of T. Gover )?

  4. I hear the Georgetown Thunder are going to play at the Hoops this weekend.

Yes they are. Lincoln tried to get in but it was too late, so now they are playing at a round robin tournament in Clark County. Would rather have played better competition at HOOPS but oh well!

  5. You're not really going to put that kind of jinx on your team are you?

I'll take Lincoln/Wayne in the finals with Wayne Co. making the upset.

Oh no, never, AJG!! I wanna watch someone else play in those games, lol! We've got to get by that first game and hope we don't get bitten by the upset bug (SW). We almost let them overcome a 20 point deficit a few weeks ago - I'm sure Coach Jackson will make sure our boys are ready to PLAY!!!!

  6. Wasn't able to attend the tourney - how did Lincoln County's 13U team do?? I see the results from Saturday but how about today? Any standout players to speak of? I know they had two make the all tourney team at KBA state tourney, with one of them scoring like over 100 points throughout the tournament, but also know they lost some of their bench to baseball. I'm sure their starters played most all the minutes. Hope they did well.....;)

  7. Congrats to the Thunder and the Wolfpack. This looks like it was a battle. Also congrats to the NKY Flash as they have a solid team as well. Didnt they add Max Nussbaum? From what I heard he was asked to play for the Wolfpack but decided not to. Lastly, Is Richardson an age excption or holdback? Should he really be in the 8th grade? Just curious as he seems very mature for his age.

I'd say closer to a freshman if you ask me...;)

  8. I am interested to see how this will play out as I just dont see Georgetown losing this game. I mean they are stacked with Quin Richardson, Portwood, Monroe, McFarland and now rumors of Gover coming aboard. If you are at this game someone keep track of how many swats McFarland has because I gurantee it will be atleast 5 or 6.

However, there may be some matchup problems at the 3 and 4 spots as the Wolfpack have some athletic forwards in McClendon and McGovney. Who will run the show for the Wolfpack out front?

Watch for Lincoln County to be right there in the finals also, although they are missing some of their team to baseball (but not starters). They played in the final four at the state tournament, and two of their players were all tournament team. They have an excellent point guard, Cummins, a huge kid in the middle who can flat out rebound and score, Hill, and another big kid inside with great hands, Luster, not to mention the other two scorers, Burchfield and Jacobs. I look for them to be major contenders on Sunday!:jump::jump:

  9. If they did transfer where would they go? Lincoln Co?

I heard two weeks ago from a VERY reliable LC source that Gover is gonna be at Lincoln. Our 7th grade team this year was Final Four at state tournament - we can only get better with a true shooter like Gover!

  10. This question is wide open. I predict Casey Co. to win this years 12th region tournament. No one in the 12th has been able to pull the upset thus far although the region will be at Lincoln Co. this year I think Casey will pull the upset.

Lincoln plays at Casey tonight so we shall see!

  11. I think Gover would greatly help the freshman group next year. I thought the 8th grade group was missing a true point guard. Townsend is good, but would be better IMO playing on the wing.

I heard a RUMOR (from a very reliable source) the other night at the Southwestern/Lincoln game that Gover may be moving to Lincoln - could this be true?

  12. I guess this thread will be closing really soon. I have really enjoyed talking middle school basketball with everyone this season, good luck this summer and I hope to chat with everyone next season!

How about one last topic. Who will be the teams to beat next year at the middle school state tournament in 6th, 7th, and 8th grade?

Definitely watch for Lincoln County's 8th grade team next year! They were undefeated in conference play this year (and last) and made it to the state tournament final four! I think Meece will be one to watch too! I didn't get to see Scott County play at the state tournament, but since they won, I would say they will be right up there again. Christian County was pretty good also!

  13. Really thought Lincoln would snatch this one. How did Young play?

Ryan didn't play his best game last night, had quite a few turnovers, which is very uncharacteristic. I think he tried to do too much by himself, and should have passed the ball more. I believe he was trying to drive it in and draw fouls, but the refs weren't seeing them, or else he would get blocked on his shots in the lane.

It really was a good game, and was really very close until the very end, when Lincoln had to foul, and took a couple of ill-advised shots rather than setting it up. The game was much closer than the final score!

Also, the Lincoln JV lost in overtime!

  14. Is anyone going to the State Tourney at KBA tomorrow? If so look me up, I'll be keeping score for Meece.

Lincoln will be there, although 8th grade IMO isn't as talented as 7th grade team that played in last weekend's final four. The 7th grade starters do practice and play up for the 8th, but don't really get much playing time.

    Good luck to the Eagles!
