both teams played hard and when it really mattered Mason rose to the top and took the game from Elliott.
After reading all of this thread, the quote above is the one that says what actually happened... :thumb:

I think Paintsville has to be favored in this game IMO.
I think you will find very few people outside Johnson County that will favor Paintsville...
-
If J. Bryant doest go out of the game then Valley wins in the first O.T. He was doing whatever he wanted right before he left. Anyone know what happend to him.
Someone said that he gashed his shin open on the "protective" barrier that surrounded the court...
-
How many seniors does Valley have?
2... Jacob Bryant and Jonah Justice... Most of the team are sophomores.
-
I understand people questioning SV holding the ball in OT and double OT, but I think it had alot to do with Jacob Bryant and Ashley Hatfield being out of the game. Whenever Elisha would drive to the bucket Paintsville would send help, taking the ball out of his hands. The subs for Valley didn't appear too comfortable with the ball, and I think that may be why Booher decided to hold the ball. It didn't work out well for them, but if they had won people would see it differently.

The only thing that I had heard was about an assistant with the initials of T.C. Nothing definite.
You're talking about Cavanaugh (sp?) Trent from Letcher County Central. That rumor has been floating around for a while now. My understanding is that the Cox family and Stamper family are firmly behind Amburgy..

The biggest transfer rumors from the mountains involve a few June Buchanan players leaving for other schools...

Final from the 15th...

That's a big first quarter...

Agreed. I would add Hazard/Cordia and Raceland/East Carter to the list of good games.

What about Phelps? I know they are 20-6, but have played several games against West Virginia competition. Is this team pretty solid?
Not really... they play a terribly weak schedule.
-
A definite underachiever is June Buchanan from the 14th...
-
East Ridge has to be absolutely thrilled with this draw...
-
Gotta believe that SV and Paintsville are happy to see Pikeville gone.
Maybe not SV... Pikeville and SV wouldn't have met until the regional final, and SV might have liked to see a Paintsville/Pikeville first round regional matchup...
-
I think you are referring to Saihou Jassey... No clue about where he went to college.
-
Final from Perry Central... Valley was led in scoring by 6'6" sophomore Ashley Hatfield with 20.
The title should read "Shelby Valley"...
-
I think this is a dangerous game for Hazard...

Is there anyone who would STILL like to tell me that Miller is better than Hopson?
Granted that it was only one game, but I watched Miller absolutely dominate Hopson at Sheldon Clark early in the season. Miller had something like 41 and Hopson had somewhere in the high teens. For my money Miller is better...

The top East teams return alot of players next year. Hazard (14th) and Elliott (16th) return most of their players, and while Paintsville (15th) loses everybody Shelby Valley should take their place and has just as much talent. Corbin and South Laurel will both have nice teams again next year along with Knox from the 13th... The mountains are loaded with talented juniors-to-be...
