  1. Golden Knights 4 Blackhawks 1 Vegas leads the series 1-0.
  2. Joonas Korpisalo broke a NHL record for most saves in a playoff game. He made 85, the old record was 73.
  3. Salsa for me. I make my own or get fresh salsa from the Publix deli.
  4. In the Bolts/Jackets game Joonas Korpisalo faced 88 shots on goal from Tampa Bay. Columbus had 63. Considering that the Jackets had 62 blocks, the Lightning took 150 shots to Columbus' 93.
  5. Flames 3 Stars 2 Calgary leads the series 1-0.
  6. Lighting 3 Blue Jackets 2 5OT Tampa Bay leads the series 1-0. The fourth longest game in NHL history.
  7. Wow. What a game!!! Braydon Point with the game winner.
  8. The Tampa Bay/Columbus game 1 is 10 minutes into its 5th overtime, meaning they have played 2 1/2 complete games. Overtime in the playoffs is sudden death and each overtime period is the same as a regulation period, 20 minutes. This game started at 3 this afternoon.
  9. It is not the same, but they are already being compensated. Free education, room, board, and they get a stipend. In my view that is all they deserve. In 80% of the schools, they are getting that off the backs of those going into debt and working jobs, when not in class, to pay tuition, room, board, and a large part of the players tuition, room board, and stipend, as well as facilities, staff, coaches, and administration. I think that an athletic department is an athletic department and it must stand on its own merit. If football is financing the other sports then so be it. Better to do that than to add to the burden of the student population, tax payers, or donors to maintain those sports. If you have no regard for the other sports, I understand. I do, though. I paid my way through school working multiple jobs, 52 weeks a year. Therefore, I'm afraid I feel no sympathy for the players. I know many players that have taken that free education and made quite a life for themselves, not getting anywhere near the NFL. Several are doctors. A few run multi-million dollar business. Remember 99 percent of college players never play in the NFL. I know my stance is not popular. I've stated my case. Nothing further to add, from me anyway. Have at it. By the way, the Lightning/Blue Jacket game is in its 4th overtime. They have played 2 full games and are still tied at 2. Back to that.
  10. The Big Ten is sighting myocarditis as the reason for cancelling the season. 15 Big Ten players have were left with myocarditis after contracting Covid-19 disease.
  11. Regarding Orlando Antigua, that whole situation at USF was brought on by his brother and was overblown to begin with. A strong AD would have stood by Antigua, but USF had Mark Harlan. Oliver Antigua was tasked with making sure 2 academically ineligible players got their course work completed. During that time, he provided 5 days of lodging and food for both players in a hotel and in his home. The amount involved was between $400 and $500. The accusation of academic fraud, a paid tutor, was never proven. I would love to see Coach O back on the Kentucky sidelines.
  12. The entire athletic department.
  13. I had copied the data off of USA Today a while back. The revenue is a matter of public record for public institutions, though. Why the schools do not use this data is beyond my understanding. I found the link where I got it... https://sports.usatoday.com/ncaa/finances/ There is a link there that explains the methodology.
  14. By the way, I lived in a beach house. @rjs4470 is right. Sand and salt air. It is a lot of work to maintain.
  15. The lake house where I live, right now. 🙂
  16. If you subtract student fees from UCF's 2018/19 revenue, they lost close to $30 million. Maybe those guys getting a fee tuition, room, board, and a stipend should consider that before demanding pay.
  17. As Scott Strickland, AD at Florida, said, "College athletics is very popular and it generates a lot of attention, but it’s still an extracurricular activity on a college campus — an academic institution’s campus." Florida's academic research grants brought in 5 times the amount they made on athletics in the 2018/19 and their expenses are tiny compared to those of athletics. These are academic institutions first and foremost. I have maintained for years that all extracurricular activities on a college campus should be club level. No scholarships. No special accommodations. No facilities provided by the institution. If a club wishes to affiliate themselves with a school then that school can sponsor them financially, but not with student fees. However, the club must provide its own training facilities, staff, and stadium. They can pay the players all they want, at that point. If the NFL wants a farm system, let them pay for it and this would provide a way to do it.
  18. In the 2018/19 academic year, Ohio State had total revenue of $210,548,230. Their expenses tallied $220,572,956. That is a loss of over $10 million. Alabama lost over $20 million and $2.5 million of their revenue came from student feeds. Only 15 of 227 FBS schools charge 0 student fees. For all but 50 of the FBS schools, more than 40% of their revenue comes from student fees. In more than 90% of those 177 schools, more than half of the revenue comes from student fees. If you subtract student fees from total revenue, more than 90 percent of the 227 FBS colleges lose money every year.
  19. Friday, UCF cancelled the start of fall practice when the players, nobody knows how many, refused to attend demanding hazard pay, scholarship security, and 20% of AAC revenue. Another nail in the coffin for college football this fall.
