  1. Leslie has a young team-they'll be back... Congrats to Powell!
  2. In my opinion, Wombles should be the 13th Region POY! Glad to hear that Coach Bowling is returning next year-a class act!
  3. I don't see Coach Parsons staying @ Corbin-commuting from Harlan gets old real fast.
  4. Wombles is definitely the best player in the region and should be 13th POY.
  5. A great game to watch-as always! I felt Corbin had a good game plan in making it a physical game, but I do feel the team with the most talent won out in the end. Just wondering what the shooting percentage was for each team. This was by far the lowest scoring game I had ever seen from each team. Whitley has a great defensive team-good luck to them in the finals of the district. I have truly enjoyed watching this group of girls (Wombles, Brimm, Holbrook, and Rogers) play against each other for these past 6 years or so. I hope they continue playing throughout their college years. Ladies, good luck in your future endeavers.
  6. I agree with your comment about Coach Faulkner-he is a very positive inspiring coach that truly cares about his players. Coach Faulkner is a tremendous asset to the WCHS coaching staff! I truly hope that his cousin, Travis Faulkner, will become part of the coaching staff and take over the program at the middle school. However, I disagree with you about Coach Amburgy's coaching ability. So, lets agree to disagree... I also agree with you about this years Corbin team. Corbin will represent the 13th region extremely well--Corbin's coaches are very strategical and methodical in their game plan; they size up their opponent's weaknesses to a tee. I enjoy watching this team play... Good luck to all teams in the 13th!
  7. Definitely between South Laurel and Corbin!!! Both teams have great coaches and depth from the bench which are fundamental sound...
  8. IMO, this region is wide open-South Laurel, M-borro, Clay and Whitley are your top teams. Any one of them will do a tremendous job in representing the 13th!!!
  9. Who were the ref's? Clay County will be fine-don't give up on them just yet...
  10. Hounds82-you need to check your sources. Mikkah and her brother were both held back in the 4th grade. They will be turning 19 soon if not already. Nothing wrong with being held back!!!
  11. Coach Parsons would be a great fit for the new Harlan High School! Doesn't she still reside in Harlan?
  12. WOW-didn't see that coming. Congrats to the Lady Colonels...
  13. With the two girls back-I must say that Mboro will be victorious...
  14. With work I've not been able to watch as many games as I had in the past, but was able to watch the SL-Corbin game-I observed several dirty shots that were thrown by 2 of Corbin's players. I agree with you-those ref's shouldn't allow dirty tactics from players to go on in the game-a player will eventually get hurt-I sure wouldn't want that on my concience!!! The 13th Region, I must say, has most of the worst ref's in the state-don't get me wrong, not all of them are bad, but there are at least 4 to 5 that can and has definitely changed an outcome of a ball game-in a real hurry! IMO those individuals need to be barred from referring... Corbin girls basketball had always been a 'class act' and teams feared them because of their talent/play on the court and not by the punches they throw. What's happened with their program? Hopefully that type of behavior didn't happen in the Mboro game-if so, somethings got to be done and I for one have stopped watching any of Corbin's games. Girls, if I wanted to watch a boxing/kicking match, I'd stay home and watch it on the tube... :ylsuper:
  15. What did M-boro's coach do that was out of control? Coach Greene has always been in control and a very good coach, but I didn't see the game so I can't comment on how he or his players acted or maybe reacted-Corbin is a tough arena for a visiting team to capture a win. I must disagree with you on that the Rogers kid is not the best player in the 13th. Lauren Wombles is by far the top player in the 13th region. Whitley has 2 maybe 3 players and no one can overlook 3 dominent players from Clay County's team and the Coleman kid for M-boro. With Corbin's win it should show how wide open the 13th region is...:dancingpa
  16. The ref's overlooked or chose not to see many dirty punches and kicks executed from 2 of Corbin's players (Baylor and Waldon). Very "unsportsman-like" conduct from the Lady Redhounds--DISAPPOINTING!!!!! If WC taped the game hopefully they will send it to KHSAA officials.
