  1. Fill me in I've never heard of Duffy. Was he a hot head did he yell and scream at his players? If so glad he's gone. Its just a game no need to show a teen-ager up. If he's not doing what the coach wants then put somebody else in.

Would you want somebody up in your face yelling and screaming if you screwed up???

Verbal abuse can be just as painful as physical abuse there's no place for it

    Its just a game...

It's just a game. And they keep score. This isn't the YMCA. Not everyone gets a trophy. Kids are soft these days.

I know, I know, verbal abuse is damaging to the psyche of these moldable young men. Is it a possiblity that through some of the "abuse" there is some accountability taught? Some sense of resposibility to the team and doing one's job for the betterment of the whole?

I'm not for a coach going on a profanity-laden tyrade in the face of a high schooler, and maybe that's what you're speaking of here. If so, I'm off base and apologize. If that's not the case, I suggest the kids take up home-ec and put the ball away.

  2. To all who have seen yet another year gone down in flames by the talented Camels brought down to another losing season by who other than Code. When is enoug enough. I am starting the chant as I type. COACH CODE MUST GO. !!!! Lets go parents, staff, students, start the revolution. Do you want robots on the court, do you want a child who cant make a decision for themselves, ect. If not then Code Must Go. He has been given too many years in my opinion to prove himself and he has not stepped up to the plate. If you really look at Code, and see a game that he has coached, you can clearly see that he really has no idea as to what he is doing.

There are a couple of talented coaches and directors out there that would fit the job perfect for the kids coming up. Lets open our eyes and see because Code obviously is not working.

    One more time.

Code Must Go!!!! Code must Go!!! Code Must Go!!

We can only hope you won't return.

  3. Am I the only one who finds it ironic that we can't get through a decent basketball thread without a GRC mention? Maybe it's me.

Congrats to Male, and Trinity on a fine season. Brutal region. I sometimes wonder if they're not simply beat up once the champ gets to Rupp.

  4. That is not a rumor he has already turned in his resignation and it has been accepted by the school board. I was saying I had been told thathe was going to reapply for his job when it is posted.
Maybe I wasn't clear. I have been told that there are those in the community who will do what they can to prevent him from reacquiring the position.
  5. He is a good player, but not near the best Junior in the state. Zollo had 22 points and 17 rebounds against Ballard the #1 team in the state. He is averagering a double double in points and rebounds. Same game you had Robbie Stenzel with 24 points, 22 in the second half, against the #1 team in the state. Zollo and Stenzel are also Juniors.

Other Juniors include, Easterns Remel Abel and Lional Gaines, Bowling Greens Chane Behanan, Warren Centrals, George Fant and Mason Co Trever Setty.

Timmy Knipp along with the above mentioned should be the leaders for Mr Basketball in the class of 2011.

Neither Stenzel nor Zollo will win because they will take stats from one another due to the fact that they share the limelight.

And for the record Ballard wasn't number one, Trinity was. But Ballard is solid no doubt. I understand saying they were #1 helps your argument however.

And I think Knipp will put up such gawdy numbers he'll be difficult to overlook.

My guess is that Behanan will be the favorite to win simply because he's headed to the Big East. I'd be highly surprised to see any of the others play at that level.

  6. I almost hate to even comment on this, but heck the season is over and I'll do it anyway. If there aren't significant changes in the youth leagues at Russell, there will continue to be some struggles. The decisions that are necessary in my opinion will be difficult ones, create some hard feelings, but would be in the best interest of the basketball program as a whole. If there were 2 more gyms with more time available some of the issues wouldn't exist, but there aren't. Simply too much going on to allow for any significant instruction. And I speak first hand. I commend the powers that be in the Marv league, they have done an amazing job with the scheduling and dealing with the weather issues. The problem is definitely not of their making, it has morphed into this over several years and needs overhauled IMO for the betterment of the whole. And I guarantee my opinion wouldn't be the popular one amongst the masses in the Russell community.

I absolutely agree. But Russell is a football school. You see the uproar that tampering with the jfl football leagues brought about. People lost their minds. You go changing the basketball feeder and many may not even notice.

  7. I was in attendance last night. In any game you can expect some calls to be missed. The striped shirts are human. Honestly, I thought it was fairly officiated. I didn't think that there was a bad whistle one way and not the other. And in a game of this magnitude, I think that a fair whistle is all you can ask.

On another note, the only call that was never made, and hasn't been from what I've seen all season, is on Hampton. He consistently lowers his shoulder, defender in good position and he bulls his way into the lane, makes space for the shot. It's plainly an offensive foul, however, it's never called. Kudos to the Musketeers for continuing to exploit the lack of this being called. The results speak for themselves.

  8. You want your point guard to have as many if not more to's than assists per game. Just because you handle the ball and dribble drive don't make you a true point. He IS a point guard, never said he wasn't, just leans to a 2 in most games, which is what Bayless says.

    Holy Macaroni Batman!

Are you watching the games or just Skip Bayless? No wonder Woody Paige bailed on that moron on First Take. It's like arguing with a democrat about healthcare reform. Not sure what it is, but knows they should argue in favor of it.

  9. I've seen JC twice this season and have come away with the same thoughts after the game. Totally out of control at points. I have no idea about their coach and this isn't meant to be a slight on him, but he appears to be barely older than his players (perhaps I'm mistaken) and he commands little respect with little discipline. The 2 big kids are out of control, one received a technical foul last night then proceeded to jaw with the Ashland fans behind the bench and then was guarded by 2 assistants as he cooled off in the last chair. Personally, I think they are pretty talented, but there are some issues that if they don't overcome, they are going to underachieve tremendously. The guard (#5) is very physical and can get to the rim. I know it's early, but there are opportunities for JC to be a very solid squad. Just my 2 cents.

  10. Perhaps they're all at home watching Days of our Lives. It doesn't end until 2:00 you know.

Look, here's my take on this saga. Folks, for the most part, in that area are in only a few categories.

    1. Those who will get off their fannies to help, albeit, so their kids who are participating can enjoy their time there. (nothing at all wrong with that)

    2. Those that will point fingers at those in #1 claiming they're only in it for their kids, when in fact all the kids benefit.

    3. Those that think things in GC won't ever change and nothing they do will be a benefit, so they chose to sit at home.

3(a) Those in the category above who do so quietly

3(b) Those in the category above who do so while griping and blaming everyone else.

    4. Those who believe in a state of continual paranoia that someone is trying to get something over on the school, or that someone is pulling the strings from Jordan Ice, Applegates, SS Annalou, or the Brickyard.(get my drift)

Just my two cents, I may be absolutely wrong, which would lead to category 5. Those who are clueless.
