Yep. Throwers don't generally have the same difficulties, as extremely few are sprinters and even fewer are distance runners. But it's very tough on jumpers who have to dash off from one event to another
Agreed. Messer of Raceland was constantly on the go winning the pole vault, long jump, high jump, & the 110 High Hurdles.

Records are falling at the 1A meet. Congrats to Raceland's Conner Messer breaking the 1A pole vault record with a vault of 14-7 1/4.
Messer also scored 40 points by winning all of his events (pole vault, high jump, long jump & the 110 High Hurdles).

I don't know where you get your information but the game was never called off. The SC mess had to be cleared up first. This had to go in front of the KHSAA because SC was not only trying to cancel the game but also tried to get out of the buyout. The West game has been a verbal agreement until the SC fiasco was cleared up. To my knowledge, this just recently happened and there should be a formal contract drawn up and signed with West Portsmouth next week. We will play West Portsmouth at Home on Sept 25, 2015.
Correct....it was on the official schedule I received today.

Blair was clutch with four free throws late to seal the deal

I would be surprised if there is not some type of teaching position to go along with the coaching position. I think it would be hard to find the right person without a teaching position.
I agree, which means they would have to "create" one or have someone leave the school system.

No just not a lot have the job flexibility to Coach on varsity level. Plus it usually not worth for the time you put in.
Exactly my point.
-
Be interesting to see where the new coach fits in with no current teaching positions available.

I remember many years before I came to Raceland when I first started I went with another coach to BC to borrow some football equipment from Coach Ross because we were just starting up a program again. He was very generous in giving us some equipment. I also remember his famous "Red Dawn" practice was going on (LOL), & he was coaching drills like it was the Super Bowl...good times. I also knew the family well long before this occurred. Good people.
Prayers for the family and Coach Ross.

Raceland's Connor Messer was picked as the USATF Youth Athlete of the Year in Kentucky. He won the 17-18 2014 USA Youth Outdoor National Track & Field Championships at Indiana University this past summer, as well as winning three KHSAA Class A State Championships (High Jump, Pole Vault, & 110 High Hurdles) in May.

Nor do I but the Williamsburg posters were asking about somewhere to get a drink with dinner. Unless one of the workers at Tres Hermonos offers a Corona from their own stash, they won't get what they want there.
Maybe the Auger Inn or Shenanigans..lol.

Great article.

Blame Conner, he brought it up. lol
He just said there was no heat; he didn't mention the type of travel.

Since you mentioned alcohol, is there a place to eat that might have a cold beverage...
Or across the river in Ironton, OH at the End Zone (Pizza & sandwich joint), which is about 2 miles away.

Hazard would of been a much better team if they didn't lose playmaker Austin Johnson to a torn Achilles. That Hazard and Williamsburg game was a classic. I believe if Hazard had Johnson healthy they would of been back in BG that year.
But game day is nearing and I can't wait to get the updates from the game. I also would like to know if I could listen online somewhere?
KOOL Hits 105.7 They have a free app for smart pones too that sounds great

What's the website for the newspaper that covers Raceland? I remember they had a lot of content to read for last years game throughout the week.

I agree with this in one sense but I believe that by this point all players and coaches believe they can win.
True..it's the adults that get bent out of shape on these boards, not the kids...;-)

How is the Raceland kicking game this year? In single A ball in eastern Ky I'm always curious to see teams that do have kickers.
Messer is the kicker on FGs extra points. Pretty accurate. A few different guys kickoff.

An undefeated regular season is possible, but 9-1 or 8-2 is more likely.
