Is Mason a consolidated school? I saw where someone said Maysville had several titles--Is Mason County a combination of Maysville and some county schools?
That is true.
Keep in mind, both Mason Co. and Maysville also did farely well before the consolidation.
-
In a close game with time running down, would you rather have a home crowd yelling for you or a hostile crowd reacting to your misfortunes?
With that comes extreme pressure to succeed.
Home court isn't what its cracked up to be when your are dealing with young men and woman in high school.
Its just an excuse. For either team.:argue:
-
Kind of disrespectful toward all of the member's (past, present, or future) and all of the great atheletes that have been a part of the All-American Team don't you think?
:irked:
No disrespect, I just don't think some AP writer out in California would know who is better a basketball player.
-
Would anybody like to tell me how Scotty Hopson doesn't get Mr. Basketball. I mean he is on the All-American team. If he doesn't get it then something is wrong.
Most of the people voting in this just look at states and/or scouting reports. Most of that is from summer ball.........
Are they allowed to play D-fense or organized offence at these events ?
The fans in our state would actually know best.
-
And the rest of the top 5 is in Louisville:thumb:
Louisville schools have a lot to prove before they are in my top 5 this year.
And they are running out of time...............:irked:

Mason County looked intimidated and Station just looked calm. Felt bad for the Combs kid they were calling fouls on him before he stepped on the court.
?

Good win for UHA over a powerhouse program. Sounds like Hopson needs a new title to his name (Mr. Basketball).
We could give it to him, BUT............................
He folded against D. Miller from Mason Co.
No question who was better that night. :flame:
-
How many of you are going to be at this game?
I will be ! Just look for my glasses !

^ Confirmed ? or just your thoughts..........

Without question BGP polls are the most accurate.
Groups of teams may be switch around ( like 1-4 ) or ( 14-20 ) just to give some examples.
But, at least there isn't some absurd error in calculations.
-
I'll say it again, the people voting in the AP should be honored by the chance and take it a little more serious.
Or just don't turn one in....................

I have come to the realization that Elliott fans and Mason County fans are EXACTLY the same. For some reason they BOTH have an inferiority complex. Mason is obviously a remarkable team. However, thier fans (and Elliott fans) are on many threads "talking trash" and explaining why they are superior to everybody else. Both fans get on my nerves. I think I am done for the season.
till next season !

You stated in another thread that there was no way that Ferguson would score 28 point against Mason County, altho I am sure that you meant he would score a lot less. Your prediction was correct Ferguson only scored 27 points against Miller, WOW Miller held Ferguson to 1 point below his average that really is dominating a player. You evidently were not able to comprehend that "Sidelinecoach" was referring to the post that said that Ferguson had 10 of his points after Miller left the game, which was not true he only scored 2 free throws after Miller left the game. Mason County did dominate Elliott County, but Miller definately did not dominate Ferguson. Come on!!
Being up by as many points as Mason Co. was in this game, I am sure Mason Co. didn't apply much pressure in half court sets. Allowing Elliot Co. to shoot from the outside.
But, it does sound like the Elliot Co. kid has a nice stroke though !

:argue:
Your missing the point. What I'm saying is enrollment wise Elliott, while not in the same league as the big boys are a good team... If Mason had Elliott's enrollment {no bias for ball players) would they be where they are at??
I think Mason Co. enrollment is around 790......Maybe in North Dakota they would be considered a big school......:jump:
Without question Mason Co.'s program delivers quality basketball. Not the enrollment.
If enrollment mattered most, then teams from Louisville and Lexington would win the state hands down every year.
Also, Mason Co. would loose about half or maybe more of its games per year.
-
And sometimes they come true...
Harrison Co. is not GRC "07 !
-
The same can be said for Mason County. In the last fifteen years they had one good run (the Chris Lofton era). Paintsville also had one good run (the Tackett, Vanhoose era). The bottom line is since 95 Mason only made the tournament one time outside of the Lofton era. That was in 06 when the made they made the quarters.
3 good runs actually.
State 3 year' in a row 91,92,93 with out Loften and add this years group who doesn't have Loften. State in 2006, missed last year but could redeem themselves this year.
Also the did a few good this in the 80's. State finalist one year. I am not sure about regional titles.
-
1.Scott County
2.Lexington Catholic
3.Mason County
They reload every year!
:ylsuper:
Looks about right !
-
I agree !
Lofton has someone on his jersey his first step past half court. As soon as he puts the ball on the floor he gets doubled.
Its a little bit harder to hit shots when gaurded like this, let alone actually be able to get a shot off.
The kid from Elliot has some proving to do to be included with Lofton.
-
Most important position on the floor is point guard. Not even close.
Miller and Hopson handle ball extremely well. The only reason they are playing forward and not gaurd is the hight advantage inside.
-
I'll take him on with my five senior forwards. We won't match their intensity...we will just win.
Darius Miller
Taylor Stewart
Scotty Hopson
Aaron Morris
Nathan Novosel
I'd take this team over the other.
Miller is definatley quick enough and handle's the ball as good as most of the gaurds around. He would run point for this squad.
-
Read carefully. I said Elliott's will not be because of kid...........meaning they will fall. So no they couldnt be the winner of state if they fall:rolleyes:
I am not the only one mis-reading the comment .
-
Every team in the state will fall(except the state champion). I don't think Elliott's will be because this kid pointed at the scoreboard. I personally feel sorry for him. He has lost a uncle, grandpa, and a parent in the last 7 weeks.
So,......everyone will fall and Elliot will win State ?
-
Just to get in on this......
In the NBA they allow 2 steps, then the 3rd step counts as a pivot and you ARE allowed to lift off of it .....and come down if needed too create a highlight or top 10 play list...........
