Just wanted Post #5,000 to be a Mason County-related post. Looking forward to seeing how the Royals respond tomorrow to the long road trip in the LexCath tourney.

For a second I thought I saw a $ sign, that got my attention real quick !

I would say here's the favorites in this order:

 

1. Mason Co

2. Lex Cath

3. Elliott Co

I would switch Elliott with Cov.Cathlic.

And just a reminder Cov. Cath beat Lex. Cath but I don't think they can do it twice or get a chance to in this tourney.

Yeah, sorry about that but I have been sulking for a day or two.

I'll be honest my nerves were on edge for a couple days during this tourney.

About like they would have been watching them in state.

Royals did a great job and I am proud of them all.:thumb:

Final score does not reflect how close this game was or the fact that Mason Co. had everything in place to take command in the final minutes.

My thoughts...............WATCH OUT !

Usually a big upset will take place when the favored team's best player has an off night or the underdog team has a player that just has an outstanding night shooting.

Neither of these situations took place as Mason Co. beat Mt. Vernon.

Mt. Vernon's best player actually had a better then normal night and Mason Co. was struggling from behind the arc.

Mason Co. still hung in there for the win.

We all will find out in a couple of hours if the Royals are deserving of a top 20 ranking in the national polls. :fire:

Hopefully that ranking will hold up with others to follow.

Also, Mason Co. is now 7-0.

Max preps currently has Mason Co. ranked 16th. in the nation with a record of 5-0.

This must have came out just before the game with Mt. Vernon, NY.

does the Ohio Ky all star game at Thomas More help answer the question? Hasn't Ohio knocked the heck out of Ky several years in row???

The question was Ky basketball or Ohio basketball, not who has better indivudal players through out their state.

I would put Mason Co., Scott Co.,Lou. Ballard, and Lex. Cath. head to head with any team in Ohio.

They definately would hold their own.

And we have already had several teams from Ky. ( not nearly as highly regarded ) play Ohio teams and walk away with wins.

What is Mt. Vernon NY's record this year? What kind of teams have they played?

Kentucky is the graceland for highschool & college basketball. If any two states go at it, it should be Kentucky vs Indiana. No one is more passionate

Comments on another thread led me to put Ky. vs. Ohio.............

Its better to have its own discussion.

Would be fun if there was an Ohio/Kentucky challenge as a Christmas tournament or a series of showcase games.

 

Take the pre-season top 10 from each state and match them up. That would be fun to watch.

Do you follow big-time high school basketball? If you did you would know that the top teams in the country fly all over the place all the time to play in these tournaments, heck they are on ESPN weekly any more. There is nothing illegal, non-compliant, unethical, etc. etc. about Mason Co. or any other team going to Hawaii to play in a basketball tournament.

 

I don't know how close to the Mason Co. situation you are but I and anyone else close to the situation can reassure you that the Mason Co. administration, AD Fred Hester, Head Coach Chris O'Hearn etc. are some of the most competent and honest people in the business. I promise you fairness and compliance is checked and double checked on any athletics business from travel, to practice time to uniforms.

 

Instead of trying to poke holes in the Royals trip, as a fan of KY HS Basketball you should be proud that a program like Mason Co. and players like D. Miller, Chris Lofton, etc. etc. are representing your state on big stages in such a classy way.

 

I wish them nothing but the best and hope that other teams from the 10th get such opportunities in the future.

Withrow is 10-15+ better than any team in KY this year .......

We are going to have our highs and lows this year.

GRC will eventually right the ship sooner than expected because of the pride within the program. You have much to look forward to.
